Join me as I sit down with Caleb Hegg from TorahResource to discuss the important work TorahResource is doing to offer solid, pro-Torah scholarship for the Body of Messiah. We also explore the fascinating world of Greco-Roman meal customs and how this historical context can bring new understanding to New Testament passages about communal meals in the early church.

Shalom I have to differ a little bit with the brother that an uncircumcised person can eat the Passover meal if there is no animal sacrifice. Exodus 12 and Leviticus 23 mandate to cook the animal by fire therefore there has to be a sacrifice to share the blood. The Torah gives us a physical aspect and a spiritual side of ceremonial customs but we cannot separate one from the other The rules for the Pesach meal are set and they are not to be changed,obviously Shaul or no one else is going to contradict the Torah much less Yahshuah to be circumcised means you are part of the people of IsraEL Ephesians 2:11-13 and part of being the people of a israEL-and to be circumcised is to be both heart and flesh(EzekiEL 44:5-9)otherwise you are not part of the Covenant with Abraham and you will be cut off (Gen 17:14) Shaul emphasis was on the fact that the heart should come first but never take away the physical aspect of the covenant Shalom Alechem

Interesting conversation. It was enlightening to learn about greco-roman tradition in meal eating. My husband and I used to attend Beit Hallel, Tim Hegg's congregation. Nice to see you online, Caleb! I pray you and your family are doing well.

Could it be that Yeshua is having meals with the Father in heaven right now? And we will also take part and “worship” and have meals in the millennial reign? Meaning animals are in heaven?

So we are justified by faith alone. True faith will cause a change in action/life. The Holy Spirit quickens us to protect Torah as a way of life. But only atonement saves.

Atonement does not save. It reconciles a person to God, as Rom. 5:10 clearly teaches. The Bible says a person is saved by Christ's _life_ , not His blood.

We are saved from the punishment of sin by His life and by His death. Rom 5:9-10 Romans 6:23 King James Version 23 For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord. Matthew 26:28 King James Version 28 For this is my blood of the new testament, which is shed for many for the remission of sins.

David - through a debate you won - you had me reconsider my theology which led me to get your book "remeber the sabbath" --- which led me to Tim Hegg and buying all his books - which led me to Torah Resource learning center... My family has been growing into Torah observance ever since !! 🎉 Thank you !!

So, in consideration of the "Passover Meal" issues, I am interested in your take on the "Eliyahu". It seems to be in every Passover Siddur, but I object. It seems to be a prayer to Elijah. I have seen two translations. One was clearly a prayer to Elijah, and one rephrased it as being only about Elijah. Who is right, and why is it in there, anyway? Thank-you so much for bringing in this particular guest. I have so much been seeking an alternative to FFOZ for years. Actually, this channel, and 119 Ministries, have been my alternative. But I still need more comprehensive study and research resources to be more actively engaged in. Thank-you so much for all your hard work!

Just started watching this video with both of you. I am of Caleb's father's generation and remember getting into the early days (at least for me) 2000 of the Torah understanding. In all my early studying and visiting groups from the traditional Jewish Messianic to Sacred Name and later Hebrew roots. There are commonalities and differences and sadly some bad teaching/teachers. That all said the anti Torah crowd some of which you mentioned their concept of a thing called the Church and how it relates to national Israel has been rooted back into Roman Catholic doctrine. No one bothers to ask Did Jesus/Yeshua even start the universal church system or did that system grow out of the false teaching Paul warned the Ephesians about.

Interesting perspective, but not really into the "new" interpretation of Paul's letter to the Corinthians. He dismisses the broader context and also I understand that the Last Supper is directly related to Passover, which he has to make a few arguments against in order to... further confuse the letters? Seems like chasing "new" just for the sake of having a "new" perspective.

Here is a hint: The "day" starts at evening. Genesis 1:5 [5]And God called the light Day, and the darkness he called Night. And the evening and the morning were the first day.

He discusses "scholarship," and I agree it's a vital resource. However, in the Torah movement, people reject all forms of scholarship (Sean Griffin comes to mind) and submit their fringe and radical doctrine to no one for critical critique. I support his statement that you don't have to have a degree, but scholarship can be helpful to us when we are not as well-studied on a topic as someone else.

Haven’t hebrews been doing this bread and wine blessing ritual since the time of Abraham? Isn’t this what Yeshua was talking about? Wasn’t he simply saying that the ritual always pointed to him, and so it should also be remembered in light of what he has done (pay the penalty of death for the broken blood covenant in the place of the guilty party).

I think brothers that we have to remember clearly that you can’t add or delete from the Torah so the Pesach has to be incorporated and established as the celebration to Yahshuah if we apply the Torah you will find that whoever did not have the blood of the lamb in their posts was going to perish and that can’t be changed, again, the physical and the spiritual meaning have to go together

The passage in 1 Corinthians 10 is saying if you are buying meat at the market and it is undisclosed, go ahead and eat, but if it is disclosed that this meat was pagan religiously killed (such as muslim Halal meat) then you should avoid it.

Pursuant to 1 Corinthians 5:7-8, It is a passover meal! You cannot celebrate the feast and it not be the passover meal. Christ is our passover. CHRIST IS THE LAMB!!!

The word lamb is not in the original Greek text of this verse. In fact the addition of it seems to contradict the context of the surrounding verses which is about bread and leaven.

You will often see pro-torah people shouting "the lord's supper was passover!!!" but it's like... what exactly did the early church do then when they met? Clearly there was a thanksgiving (eucharist) meal happening when they got together. How did that work? Like a jewish kiddush today? Isn't that like "communion" in the church today? What should church look like today? It's not enough to just say "the lord's supper was passover".
@theeternalsbeliever1779
@theeternalsbeliever1779 Ай бұрын
The Bible clearly shows the "Lord's Supper" being the Passover because Christ was crucified on the day portion of this festival. Paul even goes on to state in his letters to the Corinthians that the ceremony Christ observed with the disciples was Passover. And no, the communion service that is observed by the churches of traditional Christianity is nothing like the biblical Passover. Study it in the Bible, and it will tell you what the Passover should look like.

Yes! I love this because I saw the Lord’s Supper as the same thing, “as often as you do this, do it in remembrance of Me”, as often as we gather, we commune with Him, where 2 or 3 are gathered together in My Name I am there in the midst… How often are we communing together to honor our Messiah? Then how often are we actually participating in “communion”? Sounds like should be pretty often lol… forsake not the assembling together of yourselves even more as you see the day approaching! 🙌🏼🙏🏼

Christ's statement about 2 or 3 ppl gathered in His name was about the elders deciding judiciary matters in the Churchs. The context of this statement clearly shows it has absolutely nothing to do with a religious service.

What about the possibility that the Jews at the time were observing passover on the wrong day if it is based on the moon and solar cycle, and they missednit by a day? Just a thought and rabbit trail to explore. Perhaps Christ was observing passover meal on the correct day with his disciples and then the crucifixion took place on the passover as well according to the Jews. So double fulfilled passover meal and Yeshusa as the passover sacrifice. At any rate, Christ is our passover. 1 Corinthians 5:7 [7]Purge out therefore the old leaven, that ye may be a new lump, as ye are unleavened. For even Christ our passover is sacrificed for us:
