@zarzina makes sense i guess i feel like delver isn't that threatening to go paying 2 life, but I haven't played standard since shards/zendikar so I'm still getting used to the very different card styles have a BW token "control" deck I wanna get. Was gonna run esper, but the blue didn't seem super necessary. One more question whats the big deal with the scars split lands? Wouldn't people generally not want those coming tapped on every turn after 2?

Darkslick Shores enters the battlefield tapped unless you control two or fewer other lands. Since he controlled 1 Land at 0:15:43, it comes in untapped (his first one) Since he controlled 2 Lands 0:17:50, it also comes in untapped (since he controlled 2 or fewer, the one coast and darkslick)

@DeusO73 This sis what I saw. Palo had a 6/6 primeval titan and a 4/4 thrun. the titan got blocked by 3 3/3 tokens and thrun got blocked by a phantasmal drogskol captain and a 3/3 token, both 3/3s.For thruns combat he assigned dmg to the phantasmal first. Then regenerated and pumped thrun once ( i think) so, at end of combat the tokens that blocked the titan die due to losing the +1/+1 from phantasmal and the token behind phantasmal dies because thrun had 5 total power. Get it?

The Thrun was pumped by Wulf Run for 1 more power equaling 5 power total. When damage was assigned he assigned 3 damage to the Image with 3 toughness, and 2 damage 2 damage to the spirit token. So when the image died The token died as well because it went down to being a 2/2 after the image died. To go a little farther, the Titan assigned 2 damage to each spirit that blocked it so once again when the Image died its made all the tokens 2/2s and so they all died.

can anybody explain to me why gutshot and mortarpod are so popular? I get the red splash without having to use red mana with gutshot kind of, but for one damage? And i don't get mortarpod at all is it for the swords?

Can someone please explain to me what happens at 1:08:10 when Paulo attacks with thrun + Titanl and Jelger blocks with 4 tokens and phantasmal image? I don't understand why all of the tokens die!?! To me it looks like 3 tokens block Titan, and image+1 token block Thrun. Then Paulo pumps Thrun x=2. To kill all 3 tokens the Titan must assign 3dmg+3dmg+2dmg, right? How is that possible?

standard round is 50 minutes long. so if you play all three games you have to average around16-17 minutes. some games are much longer, some games are much shorter.

The point is that if you draw a Delver, Vapor Snag or a Ponder off of the Probe draw you can cast it, so you don't feel stupid if you paid 1 blue mana for no reason.

regarding thrun, how did 2 3/3 spirits killed by a 4/4 thrun? the image is a 3/3 killed by thrun and 1 more damage assigned to the other 3/3 spirit which is then a 2/2 because the drogskol captain is still there. so why is it that thrun killed the 2/2 with only 1 damage?

@VideoPaladin Yeah it was nice of finkel. But why did costa not slam his geist of saint traft earlier? He had3 mana up often with no counterspells and finkel was tapped out with only a unflipped delver in play.

At 1:08:28, why did the 3rd 3/3 token blocking the titan die? If Paulo pumped Thrun, the titan would have had to have dealt 3 damage to the first two spirits in the blocking order.

No....because Finkel needs to pay 2 for his counter to Geist. That would put him at one mana, and unable to counter Costa's Mana Leak. I dont mean to disagree with you, or start an arguement. I could be wrong. But what I see at about 28:00 on is Finkel and Costa have Mana Leak. When Finkel has only three mana, he can either stop a Mana Leak or cast one. If Geist is played by Costa first, Finkel could Mana Leak it, and then Costa could Mana Leak the mana leak.

Thanks. Nghhhh. There was a reason none of us played City of Brass, painlands, and friends in 4th edition/Tempest days - we died from it! These days, I see vintage,Miracle Gro do fetchland sac fetch (take 1 damage) - fastbond - fetchland (take 1) sac fetchland(take 1) for bayou (takes 1) for vampiric tutor (take 2). Vintage is different - you might be facing a deck with fewer than 4 creatures. These people are against aggro, aggro/control, beatdown, weenie..is taking damage still a good idea?

Wow why he didn't attack with dungeon Geist I don't know. He even countered the blast with dissipate to save it. Paulo would have been at 3 not 6 a couple turns later and would not have been able to slag storm for game. Am I missing something?? Why didn't he attack with dungeon Geist???
