People complaining about Kibler shuffling, talking and fidgeting.......would you honestly rather watch 2 guys sit there silently with there hands on there thighs taking 5 minutes a piece to make every move?

I was wondering the same thing the first time I saw it happen. Apparently it helps keep players focused so they don't give away emotion or their hand. In essence, it helps them keep their "poker face". People tend to do various things with their hands when they are nervous or confident, so they constantly shuffle those cards in hand to keep a consistent action going that their opponent can't get a read off of.

I'm also a fan, but copying without putting in your own ideas with stifle your growth as a player - even if you just second-guess and change a few cards or alter the sideboard to better fit your local meta, it will still help you become a better player by getting a deeper understanding of the game.

Wolf Run has kinda become like jund. In 2009 Jund was in the finals of Worlds, and the final two decks of PT San Diego. Wolf Run was in the finals of worlds, and both decks in the finals here. Pretty dominant deck!

@xh1199 There were so many different decks played at pro tour, just because 2 of the winners were wolf run doesn't mean anything regarding the viability of other decks in this format. But you wouldn't know that since you probably took one look at the winning decks, and calle dit a day.

gate crash had: Esper by ben stark. UWR by Joel larson and UWR by Thompson Wolfrun bant by mellisa detora. The aristocrats by martell. Jund by stephan mann and .owen. Frodog millionaire played an aggresive version of naya. it did not feature tusks in the main deck. So 3/8, the top 8 was dominated by reckoner(which is starting to fall out of favour recently)

people need to stop complaining about the shuffling in Kibler's hand. I see how it is annoying to us, but it is meant to distract the opponent..and based on how many people complain about it, it's clearly annoying enough to merit its worth.

Except now it's so commonplace that it only annoys and doesn't distract anymore. Magic players typically can multitask. So for instance, I can be annoyed by something, but still focus on the task at hand, with minimal negative effects from being annoyed. You are right however that when it first started cropping up that it was distracting. That tactic though doesn't do much, but raise the blood pressure of your opponent.

I guess for some maybe. Like I said before, it helps me focus and think, just like pacing when talking on the phone helps me focus and think during a conversation. Some of it may be habit, but I don't think I'm the one with a disorder if someone else can get distracted so easily by hand shuffling. To each their own I guess.

Pri-Me-Val. That's how three dictionary sites say it's pronounced. So when it's said altogether it sounds like "Prime Evil". Also if you listen carefully to their audio sample of it, it sounds even more like Pry-Mevil. Honestly not picking a side on it, I wasn't sure either so I looked it up.

@GageLeeHughes Oh! That explains a lot. But I still find it a bit dull... There are the same steps and the same idea: 1. Get mana 2. Get Primeval Titan 3. Get the Inkmoth and the Kessig Wolf-Run. 4. Charge!!! Well... If I'd play against them, I'd use Torpor Orb :D:D That would ruin it:D:D

@farleymeaghan It matters because this is the very highest and most professional level of playing and it shows lack of professionalism not enforcing rules like having token cards for types that your deck will generate The same way when a few games ago they had to go back on a game because a wolf token was suposed to get destroyed but wasn't, and from the 3 people watching the game nobody said a word It matters for the general acceptance of magic as a skill based competitve game

I doubt I could take option B in a pro tour though. It just seems unfair to those people who are annoyed by the constant swiping and clicking noise along with the constant movement. There are no formal rules against doing things that are annoying, although if I started singing halfway through a match because it calmed me down and annoyed my opponent, I'd probably be asked to stop by either the player or judge. I'd honestly prefer some random guy singing as opposed to him just auto-shuffling.

It's a bad habit though. There aren't nearly as many people who fidget and tick as there are people who generally remain silent, because sometime in their life those people who -did- fidget were probably asked to quiet down or stop their fidgeting. It is discourteous to the opposing player if it is distracting to them. They, unfortunately, cannot remedy the problem, so it's up to the person doing it to either find another, less noisy and annoying form of concentration, or just stop altogether.
