There was a famous PTQ Extended back in 1999 where a player won the game using a lifelace to change his white perminant green preventing his opponent from using Anarchy to take out that permanent to force a deciding game 3 just to lose the next game because he drew a 4th card off a Brainstorm (from what he later said was because of a lack of sleep).

Is Tyler playing a single Summer Magic Swamp? It's kinda hard to tell from this far away, but that's what it looks like to me. Sweet $450 basic, haha.

at 9:16 Carlos Romao look at top 4 after casting anticipate, the judge rule it as violation and Carlos has to reveal all four cards for Tyler to see and choose one to be shuffled in deck and Carlos has to anticipate with three that left behind...I'm not a magic judge but I do think this is a bit unfair towards Carlos, kind of reminds me of pro tour magic origins quarterfinal between Paul Jackson and Stephen Berrios where Paul carelessly reveal his top card even though his courser has died in combat, the judge at that time rule that is a violation when looking at extra card and Paul Jackson received one violation and required to shuffle his library...what I mean is, I feel this judges ruling is a bit unfair since it gives advantages to Tyler, why don't they just give violation to Carlos and shuffle his library and anticipate again
@jaredvargas57858 жыл бұрын
It does give an advantage to the opponent. Just the way looking at 4 cards with an Anticipate gives an advantage to Carlos. If you don't want that to happen, don't make game rules violations.
@broadwayat8 жыл бұрын
because he is the player that made the mistake and needs to have a violation. if there were only warnings, there would be lots of gaming and cheating and we would have what is known as 90s magic
@xtehmoonlight74008 жыл бұрын
I understand he makes a mistake for looking top four cards, but to compensate it...it was much better if he was asked shuffle his library in order to eliminate the advantage he got from looking top four cards and received one warning, I don't know but I feel its a bit unfair though

That's the established fixed for a Hidden Card Error, which is the infraction Carlos committed. This fix is so much better than the Game Loss that used to be associated with that sort of error. To answer your question of why the judge didn't just shuffle the library is that they don't want to give the opportunity for a player to say look at 3 lands and "accidentally" grab a 4th card in order to get the opportunity to look at a new set of cards.

Im kind of new so i dont know all cards. It would be really good if they showed all cards. I stoped at 20:25 its kind of hard to understand what is going on.

@justinkp8 жыл бұрын
Kyle Anderson They know what the cards say - but once you are playing at that high level you realize it's better to look at the card to make ABSOLUTELY sure you know how it works rather than screw something up. As LSV (I think) said during coverage there's no penalty for reading a card but there's a huge penalty for making a misplay because you assumed incorrectly how a card worked.
@Nanofuture878 жыл бұрын
Do well at a GP that's a different format. As others have said, it's always better to double check. Misplays at Professional REL can punish you pretty brutally.

Wizards usually posts top 64 decklists after the PT. Look for them on the mothership. Or contact a specific player through social media if you want their exact list.

1st and 2nd seed get 2 byes, 3rd and 4th seed get 1 bye
@signisakanades13298 жыл бұрын
The new structure is that the players in seeds 5-8 all play each other (5-8, 6-7). Then the winners of those matches face seeds 3,4 and the winners of those matches face seeds 1 and 2, and then the winner of those two sets face each other. It means that your rank matters more overall than it used to.
