de-ess before compression can result in more natural sounding de-ess . IMO sibilance from waves is one of the GOAT de-esser after trials of countless de-essers.

@Orderftw782 Жыл бұрын
Nope . Compressors like 1177 and optical tend to increase sibilance , So it is always good to add a deesser after compression to get a round and clean tone . This is used by all pro mixers like Lesli Brathwaite and Dave pensado.

@Orderftw782 sure have an de-esser after compression could tame the the sibilance from a FET Or Opto. but if we're speaking "dave pensado" it is also him that said "always over de-ess vocals before compression then compensate it after " he was using C1-SC at the time , Also 15 second work flow is ideal but also remember De-esser is essentially an Dynamic EQ & functionalities its an essential especially dealing with vocals. sometimes you'd want to lookahead or sidechain trigger from your vocal mids or lower mids, Alot of major engineer used to separate sibilance in new track to use as triggers. oh Heres a mic drop " The Best De-esser Is manually gain ride The sibilance on the waveform before hits any plugin " (

@@iloveeverything4380 it means you grab 60000 which is an amount of milliseconds in one minute then divide that count by bpm (beats per minute) of your song and takes the result, so you can know how much you have to set a decay and also count a pre-delay using the same formula except, in addition, you will need to divide it by 4. hope I gave you some help 😅

A dynamic eq makes for the best dresser. Use the preview button to hear only what you are cutting to help find the silence then scan between 5k and 7k for the loudest Tss sounds and reduce by about 3db. Also nothing beats manually adjusting your vocal recording volume peaks before it even gets to a compressor. Allows for a much more natural sounding and upfront vocals. Lastly a harmonic saturator really helps adds 3 dimensionality to the vocals. Cheers

@Jay-dn2vg11 ай бұрын
People saying the chain sucks but it isn't terrible, it's just standard. I do think the plugins are out of order tho. It's usually best to de-ess before comp cuz de-essers use dynamic changes to find what it should reduce. Putting it on a compressed signal can make it harder for it to work cuz the sibilance peaks have already been slightly smoothed out. Also adding an EQ before comp typically gives you a warmer tone, where adding an EQ after comp usually gives you a clearer tone, so I PERSONALLY would comp before EQ, but it could depend on the song
@LMN225 ай бұрын

Your reverb ms time has a formula. 60,000/BPM * 2 = MS of decay. You can then divide or multiply this number by 2 to get perfect timing for a lot of things in the mix that use MS

I used to not think that. I can make about any mic sound as crispy as the 103. But the 103 out of the box is so clean, I don't even know what to do to make it sound better. I just purchased the 103, focusrite isa one, and a lin2a. It's a game changer even though it cost almost 2.8k. I started with nothing and cracked plug ins. Now I have nice stuff and use no cracks. Invest in yourself and your credit. I get gear interest free and can pay for it over-time. I don't make money from music it's more of a hobby. So I can never justify paying for most stuff up front. I have the money 9 out of 10 times. But it's so much affordable overtime. I recommend zzounds for interest free payments.
