It's great to poke through your videos and find yet another very helpful video, Nitsan, so thank you for this one and all the others! I bought the Felicity version of this unit a few years back, which looks exactly the same as yours, but mine uses aluminum rods instead of carbon fiber, which made it much cheaper, but I'm not sure how much lighter. They seem to have the same basic parts and I have found it to be very versatile. I'd say that if someone is looking for an even less expensive version of this unit, that the Filmcity one would be a decent choice. One thing I'm not in love with though, is that it seems I can never get the handles to be tight enough. I was thinking of drilling them and putting a locking pin through them, just to keep them from moving. Other than that, I added another piece of rod to connect the counterweight to the front rails, because there was some flex between them. Perhaps the CF one is not like that. Lately though, I've been using the BeHolder DS-1 3 axis gimbal stabilizer for my "walking" videos and have found that to be better for some things. The shoulder rig is still better for doing some types of shooting though. Anyway, thanks for all your videos, great job! Cheers.

As i explained in the review the full setup was too big for me so I sold a lot of it. My friend Lucas Pfaff still uses the matte box he bought from me, i think he may have reviewed it on his YT channel. The rails from this are the best i've seen so far and they're still in use on my rig. Most the other stuff i sold since i have to sell stuff to afford new review items.

I mostly use manual focus lenses. They have smoother focus rings and are more compact which is great for video. My 55mm f1.2 has been my most used lens for about 4 years. Looks great on full frame (5d) or crop cameras. I'd recommend an Olympus or nikon 55mm or 50mm f1.2 if you can afford $200-300 or f1.4 if you only have $100-150. Other nice ones are the Samyang/Rokinon 85mm, 35mm and 24mm (all f1.4) and if you need a zoom lens then there are some inexpensive f2.8 zooms from tamron and sigma.

yeah you can mount the h4n anywhere you want. search on ebay for a cctv mount, they cost about $3 and are short so are great for mounting audio recorders to anywhere you want. otherwise, there are shock mounts or magic arms you can use. or just use a bolt, clamp, rubber band, velcro, what ever you want.

Hi, first off great review! I am looking to get a rig and this one seems pretty good. I was hoping you could answer a few questions for me if you wouldn't mind. I live in the states, and I am always weary about ordering online from overseas. 1: How painless was the process to actually order this rig? 2: How sturdy is this rig? 3: Do you have to buy counterweights for the rig from them, or would it be easy to make some decent looking and functional DIY counterweights for this rig? Thanks!

I really like your camera rig as it looks to be very versatile. I was thinking of buying a Filmcity FC-02 but curious as to how you feel about yours over the long-term when used on the shoulder or hand-held. It seems that whenever I look for shoulder-based rig reviews on KZbin that not many have been uploaded between 2016-2018. What do you think? Thanks Tony
@nitsan
@nitsan 6 жыл бұрын
Hey. I rarely use them anymore. Just not needed for my current work. When I do need one, a big gorillapod gives me the most comfort, stability and compactness, since I don't need any add-ons except what I can fit on my camera's hot shoe. For most stability I set it up with all legs wrapped around my shoulder with both hands on the camera. Or for more movement, one leg on the shoulder and two legs as handles. They are not as durable as a proper rig but I still prefer them.
@ExpressiveImagery
@ExpressiveImagery 6 жыл бұрын

that's a good option anyways, as the smaller plates allow for more movement and adjustment, and less weight. the cage will still get in your way if you want to use a viewfinder - i think. see my facebook for a photo and parts list of my current rig setup, which is perfect IMO. I've never used a better rig, and i've tried a lot of them.

@nitsan 9 жыл бұрын
Guide504 That's like saying "why are you eating cake? Pie is good too." What I mean is, things have different uses for different people. For example: 1. Image stabilization isn't available on every lens and on every camera. 2. camera and lens stabilization alone isn't always stable enough. 3. that combination doesn't have any place to hold a follow focus, etc. I'm not saying you're wrong, just saying, different setups work for different people and different needs. My current compact shoulder rig setup is a sony A7S on a gorillapod focus. I wish I could have stabilization but it's not available on any of the lenses I want to use.

they have a $95 rig called FC-10 (you might only find it under the filmcity name) if choosing one of the proaim rigs, that's the one i'd go for. I have one here and will post a review soon. Saves you some money you can invest in a tripod and slider. (see my reviews of the FC-270A tripod and the Konova K2, both absolutely amazing and cheap too) I also have a video coming up of the rig configuration i've been using for my own work, which is about the same price as this but only partially proaim.
