Great video! I am going through the same experience after having bought the slightly bigger set from Proaim (but the principle is the same). My first trial was similar to yours: camera was somewhat more stable but swinging around with little control. In the meantime, I learned how to balance the gimbal statically and dynamically (the latter is more complicated but helpful for pans) and how to make the arm move sideward and back & forth just by changing my body posture. And, I learned how to use my hands correctly (in your case: right hand on the post with only the fingertips, left hand more firmly on the grip to control the movements of the post) From there all is practicing the different moves (forward, backwards, sidewards, panning, turning, ...) - it's still a steep learning curve. Being 60 yrs old I can say: you're never too old for this.

You have the vest on inside out my guy. The padding goes against your body. Also, use your right and slightly touch the pole to steady it. You don't operate it with one hand.

Hahaha, you just made me bust out laughing. I didn't realize he had the back pad inside out. OMG that is too funny. Good call! I was fooling around with one of these things too. They take some getting used to, that's for sure. I'm trying to see how other people are doing it.

Get this, I went to look at mine again after watching this video. I had mine the same way he did- inside out!. It's the way it's packaged. It's folded into that inside/out shape. So once you open it, I guess it's easy to just start connecting all the clasps together without noticing the back padding is inverted. Ha, can't believe it got me too.

Just about to buy one and this has been helpful :)

Honestly, we had it for 2 years and have not used it one time. Buy a DJI Ronin gimble and you will get more use out of it. The steadicam is old technology and has a steep learning curve. I had multiple videographers and they picked up the Ronin RS2 in less than a day. Watch this behind the scenes video: kzbin.info/www/bejne/bZbCq4mchM6XmMU You can see one of my video guys running with the ronin, you can check out our unleashed channel to see the final video.

This was really helpful 👍 I’m thinking of getting one, and in a funny “non “ pro way you illustrate just what this system is all about 👍 so thank you.

i have this and there is mos def some getting used to. mostly like yourself, i found myself tryin to man handle it. its supposed to hold itself up while we just conrol WHERE TO SHOOT. Keep practicing bro, it has its lil charm and in time you will be dancing with that thing! Keep it up! im also doing the same. its hard because we dont understand how it works, and we force it adding tension to our arms and with that goes into our back. and we get tired easy... keep walking with it, try not to shoot at first. just walk with it. Learn your groove... learn its awkwardness, and youll be fine.

As a TV engineer and shooter, I had to laugh at your comment on "Maybe I'm just too old" when using the Steady Cam. It is definitely a young man/womans' gig!! har har har!!

This was years ago. We have grown up so much and in fact just ordered a glide gear stabilizer for $25, so planning on making a video about that soon. Could not pass up a steadicam for $25 including shipping.

No steady cam is designed for traipsing through the untracked wilderness. Plus the top of the line steadicam runs about $50k. You need to watch some videos to get the hang of it. You should be able to get excellent shots combined with a camera with in body stabilization, together with lens stabilization. And in post you can get it so smooth it looks like the camera is floating.

I am watching from Uganda East Africa and laughing at this...I plan to acquire one flycam galaxy....I think I will use it better than Mr Dog Poop since I currently use steadycam very well...U only need to learn how to balance the camera using 2.5 seconds dropdown test

I bought that 2 years ago and to this day, that was the only day we used it. I would highly recommend a DJI Ronin gimble. Much easier, smaller and it won't kill your back. Not that it is not good, because it is, good quality, but nobody wants to use it. I don't know if you heard but Americans are lazy Fu#k$ and the laziest ones all seem to work for me. I am glad you got a laugh out of me trying to use it. I honestly still have no clue how to do it and I am told the vest was even on inside out!

Is it a 200,000 steadycam system😂
@mrdogpoopunleashed Жыл бұрын
It is basically the same for $500. And there are no steadi cams for $200,00, that includes the camera and accessories. The vest and arm are much less than $200,000.
