I've chosen the Asus ProArt RTX 4080 OC as my GPU for my new PC build - it looks nice, and I've seen a lot of negative reviews with the TUF easily reaching 75'C. And they have good support for New Zealand and Australia.

Amazing! I don't think you'll go wrong. It's such a beautiful and well-built card. The fact that you can get a 4080 in a 2.5-slot card, is incredible. I'm really happy with what Asus is doing with their ProArt series.

Is it good for gaming tho? I dont care about creative thing at all. Is it good as much as tuf or rog strix? or proart version gets hotter than other versions?
@JohnLCharette10 ай бұрын
Yeah, it's excellent for gaming. I game on mine at 1400p ultra-wide, all the time. The TUF has 'better' thermals and the Strix has more overclocking potential but all three perform very similarly out of the box. If you don't care about RGB or overclocking but want a solid card, the ProArt works well. It was designed for smaller form factor or using two of them. The TUF is the same price, but it's bulky. If you have the room, the TUF is the better buy.
@thedarkswindler812410 ай бұрын
@@JohnLCharette thank you! Also, I have a 2k monitor as well. I don’t think temperature would be a problem but is it gets hotter than other versions? Temperature is very important for me because where I live is very hot especially in summer.

I just ordered this GPU an hour ago and will receive it on Saturday. I'm planning on running it stock with Topaz Video AI, a program that really stresses a GPU. I'm going to take note of the temps and then do a repaste and replace the thermal pads with some Gelid Extreme pads. My current GPU is an RTX 3080 and when I received that GPU used from ebay the temps were horrible GPU:72C, Hotspot: 96C and Memory Junction: 110C. After a repaste and adding those gelid extreme pads it dropped my temps immensely. My new GPU temp is at the most 67C, Hotspot 72C and Memory junction: 72C. I just have to do some research to find out the thermal pad thickness on this GPU.

Great review man. I bought the asus 4080 super tuf gaming. But it barely fits in my case and will bend the 12vhpwr connector up in the glass and I’m not risking a $1000 dollar melting card. So wanted to downsize without sacrificing performance. So which comes to my question. Do you think this card has will be good for gaming as well? A lot of people say it’s for “creator” stuff. I will mainly be gaming and playing VR. Thanks
@JohnLCharette5 ай бұрын
YES! It's the exact same GPU core, so it will perform the exact same for gaming and playing VR. The biggest differences between the TUF and the ProArt is that the TUF has a much bigger heatsink, which is why you're having a tough time in your case. Due to that larger heatsink, it will run a bit cooler. One thing to consider is that the ProArt series only has one HDMI port vs two on the TUF series. That could be important for VR. Lastly, the TUF has a bit of RGB and the ProArt doesn't. Performance wise, they'll be the same. I'm using a ProArt 4080 Super in my system right now and it works great in every game I play. I'm working on the review right now. Give me a week or so and it will be live.

@JohnLCharette6 ай бұрын
Ahhh, very good question. I'm going to add this question to my list of videos to create in the future. It's a pretty easy answer based on your needs, as they are designed for two different purposes. The #1 feature of the ProArt, other than it's beautiful design, is the form factor. It's very small and they've done that on purpose. It's great for smaller builds OR if you want to stack two of them, it works really well. It does make a small compromise on thermals, but I've tested it and isn't a problem. No RGB on ProArt cards. The TUF is a thick boi. It's the thickest GPU that Asus makes. Because of that, it is able to cool really well. The TUF has some small RGB accents as well, with the dark grey shroud. The only other advantage that the TUF has, it's that it's been designed to handle waterblocks, for custom loops and the ProArt hasn't. So, if you ever plan on adding a waterblock, go with the TUF card. Both cards will perform pretty much identical while gaming and 3D art. Do you want a bigger card that cools a bit better with some RGB, or did you want a smaller sleek looking ProArt card? Let me know where you're leaning.

@@JohnLCharette Oooh thanks for the answer that's cool ! I think I'll go with the ProArt. I'm really not a fan of RGB, I like minimalist design so it'll be perfect. I was mostly worried about the thermals but several people told me that they had 0 problems with their ProArt

@JohnLCharette10 ай бұрын
Thank you very much. No, you can't use both of them at the same time.. it's one or the other. You have to ask yourself, what's more important? Stability when making or playing games, then decide on the driver set. I've decided to stick with the Studio drivers myself. I've also noticed that they release Game Ready drivers more often, most likely due to the frequency of new games being released.

The TUF 4070 Ti Super will perform better because it’s a Super. If you meant ProArt 4070 Ti Super vs TUF 4070 Ti Super, then they will perform very similar, if not the same. Hi i want to buy the pro art Rtx 4070 for gaming. But I am unsure bc of the thermals. Do you think it has better thermals than the ASUS dual Rtx 4070. I think so bc the prop art has better cooling? And compared to the 4070ti is the pro art version at the 4070 has good thermals guess what do you think? @JohnLCharette8 ай бұрын
Yes, I think the thermals on the ProArt 4070 will be better than the Dual 4070 based on three fans vs two fans and much more surface area to dissipate the heat. I haven't personally used the 4070 but based on the size, it looks like it shares the same form factor as the 4070 Ti. So, if anything, it probably cools better than the 4070 Ti. Correct, the GPU itself is the same from card to card, which is the main factor for gaming performance. The only difference is if you get the OC vs non-OC version, which means the GPU is clocked slightly higher. The OC version should be 1-5% faster. The design, thermals and additional features change from model to model.
