There was a probability question for one on my certification tests. (If someone spins the spinner twice, what is the probability it will land on an even number? The spinner consisted of the numbers 1,2,2,3,4,4,5. My answer was 16/49, but it was not one of the choice answers. How would you figure this out? Reply

There are seven sections that the spinner can land on, and four of those sections contain an even number (2, 2, 4, and 4). I assume the question meant, what is the probability the spinner will land on an even number BOTH times? The probability of that is indeed (4/7)x(4/7) = 16/49. (Assuming those sections on the spinner have the same area.)

The 4% comes from the probability being 1/25. This is first written as an equivalent fraction of 4/100, and that in itself is of course 4%. Perhaps you don't know how equivalent fractions work? Check out this video: kzbin.info/www/bejne/nXbchY2BmsqFhsk Or maybe you don't know the meaning of percent? Percent is "per hundred", or how many hundredths you have. So, four hundredths is four percent. The same reasoning applies to the 44% which came from 11/25.
