Hi from Texas. I Ride a 2006 R1200GS and Love it. I have never had a problem and have 42,000 Miles on it. It still Runs and Drives like new. They are so easy to work on, that I do all my own Maintenance. It still looks almost Brand New also. I have been Riding Motorcycles for 50 years now. I owned everything from Kawasaki to Hondas, Suzukis, and Harleys and Yamahas. The GS is the Best Bike I have ever had. I have 8 Fusions in my Neck and lower Back. The GS is the only one I can Ride and not hurt. It will probably be my last Bike, so I’m really happy the GS is it. Thanks for the Video, New Subscriber.😁👍👍

2007 GS 1200 70K trouble free miles. 40 year MX racer, thought these bikes were for the Starbucks crowd. Boy was I wrong. Unparalleled as a long distance touring bike, incredibly capable off- road with proper tires , skills, and discretion. Also, due to current used bike market, one of the best bargains for serious riders. No silly electronics ( ABS only. ABS is mandatory on this type of machine). Tons of torque. Smooth , refined , and sophisticated. The chassis is a dynamic masterpiece of stability and handling, especially in gnarly conditions. Front end vague off- road and low end lean bog makes it clunky at slow speeds in difficult terrain. But ADV is always about compromise.

Yes this is normal this is the modulator.. Good maintenance, regular use, the more you drive, the better. Here from Wikipedia: From 2004, the BMW R 1200 GS was available with the optional extra Integral ABS from FTE automotive with brake booster (BKV). Design weaknesses led to a change of model and manufacturer.[4] From mid-August 2006, the BMW R 1200 GS was available with the optional extra Integral ABS from Continental Teves. As problems also became apparent with this ABS brake system, BMW initiated a recall in April 2008, officially described as a "technical conversion campaign", in which the brake lines on the ABS pressure modulator were to be replaced.[5] On May 5, 2010, the Federal Motor Transport Authority published information under the KBA reference number 2895 that this campaign would have to be repeated "with identical circumstances" from model year 2006-2009.[6]

I have over 100,000 miles on my 2010 1200GS. Not worth much on the used market so I’m keeping it. I’ve never heard of K25/K26 before, must be a European thing.
@secondhandbiker11 күн бұрын
Thanks, probably best to keep it indeed. On German Wikipedia you will find K25 for the air-colled and K50 for the LC. The Adv is K255 not 26 my mistake and K51 for the LC. Lots of safe miles!!

The 1300 is a technological masterpiece with terrific power and torque, a sport adventure tourer. The 1200 is providing a timeless motorbike experience. It slows down time, the 1300 speeds it up. 👍✌️

The biggest POS I ever had. In 2012 I bought my 11/2006 GS. It is lovely to ride (when it does not break down). I have had so many problems, 4 fuel pumps, fuel gauges, balancer seals, lots of tyre pressure sensors, ECU (yes, one ECU!!!), ignition switch, corrosion on engine and fuel cap, leaking front shock, I forget what else, all that before 45000km. The previous owner had the standard rear transmission bearing and ABS. Do not get me started about BMW company, very difficult for them to own issues. While I am at it, the fuel pump issues still not fixed after all the years, high pressure leak, not dangerous they said...and cigarettes do not cause cancer too???? I am sure I forget things but you get my drift. Just one more, they cannot (will not?) provide maintenance on spoke wheels, buy new ones!!!! With these details, BMW know who I am, care to comment????
@secondhandbiker5 ай бұрын
So sorry to hear this, fuel pump is a recall issue and gauge is known to break down. Sum of issues you have is staggering, time to buy a Honda😅. Spoke wheels can only be serviced a specialists. Keep strong!! 😬👍✌️

Maybe somebody isn’t take care as he should of his bike
@ChristianGuitard-v7f4 ай бұрын
To Rodriguez: if you do not know anything, better to keep your mouth shut. For your info, I have been taking VERY good care of my bikes for over 50 years, it is just that BMW R1200s are shit and the company does not care about customers. Just Google R1200 fuel pumps for example. Etc etc...
@ChristianGuitard-v7f4 ай бұрын
@@secondhandbiker I forgot to say also, try getting stuck in traffic, after about 20 minutes, it will overheat, the oil will get too hot and the cam chain tensioner s will give up, wonderful engine noise. This is why police bikes have a fan on the oil radiator (of course cannot fit on a GS!!!!) Yes, I am the same guy with the fuel pumps,gauge, ECU , spoke wheels, etc.

If my 1150GS (owned by me for 24 years) died this would be the only bike I'd consider. Had a 1200RT camhead so understand the motor and the LCs are just too much of everything; weight, complexity, price, etc.

Sorry but these bikes don't get 650 KM in ONE tank of Gas. What year is this bike?? I had a 2007 GSA and even with the larger tank they don't get 650 KM.
@secondhandbiker5 ай бұрын
Same gas tank of 33 litres. I am referring to what the trip computer says. If you cruise at 80-90 kmh, fuel consumption drops to about 4.5 lt/100km. 7x4.5=31.5. = >700km range. Must be same on yours if you have the K 255 GSA. ✌️👍
@AB-hx9hs5 ай бұрын
@@secondhandbiker Sorry but the GS tank does not hold 33 Liters to start with. And the only way you will get 700 KM is if you're going downhill in Neutral. My GSA which has a larger gas tank than a GS got me around 275 miles at the most, that's 442 KM. Yes I drove faster than 90KM/H but still. You will not get 700 Kilometers out of a GS.
@secondhandbiker5 ай бұрын
33 Liters it is in the 2010 GSA, same in 2007. Mine is a GSA like yours. The GS has 20 liters. Even at 5 liters consumtion > 600 should be easily possible.
@warrenharrison50525 ай бұрын
@@AB-hx9hs Ive got the 2011 R1200GSA - it definitely has a 33 litre tank and i have done over 600Ks on a single tank multiple times - most i've done is nearer 650ks
@AB-hx9hs5 ай бұрын
@@warrenharrison5052 If 33 Liters equals 8.7 Gallons and 450 KM still equals 403 Miles then I am curious to know how fast you drive to get this. The best the 07 I had ever got was 36 miles to the Gallon, mostly freeway speed. 70-80 miles per hour. Maybe at 60 or 55 miles per hour you will get 400 KM, I don't know.

Thinking about selling my 2008 GS with 100k km. Drive it already 10years now so would like to try something else (but after seeing your video ...), issues I had: ABS pump broken, fuel meassurement sensor broken. Otherwise love it, but missing some horsepowers. Also afraid of the costs that will come after this 100k (Shaft and clutch plates). Also really hate the arrogant BMW dealers. KTM 1290sas not realiable, Honda Africa Twin to slow, Multistrada to expensive, Kawa is a 4cilinder.., Suzuki vstrom 1050 ugly, Triumph? Mhum..
@secondhandbiker3 ай бұрын
🤓 the answer is simple: get a 1250 and keep the 2008. I have the Africa Twin and slow it is not... and reliable. The AT 1000 after 2018 will do nicely. I have the DCT version. A 1200 LC is also an option. ✌️ Enjoy (pa: No Multistrada for me anymore, Versys 4 cylinder not really, no KTM, BMW is after all your safest bet. )

@@secondhandbiker Thx a lot, love the looks of the (normal, non Adventure sport) AT 1100. Maybe give it a try indeed. Unfortunately no room for two bikes. The 1250 ticks all the boxes, but as I mentioned I don't like the BMW community over here (dentists driving from Starbucks to Starbucks in their Rukka suits) and the dealers only have eye for you when your bike is less then two years old (or when you drive a police RT).
