The Sarajevo to Mostar train ride is without question the best kept train secret in Europe!

I'll be honest, I had no idea what to expect when we started our research on getting to Mostar from Sarajevo. There were buses that ran constantly but like most people, we prefer trains. This is what it's like riding on the Sarajevo to Mostar train!
If you're planning to take this train, then be prepared to wake up early! The train leaves every morning around 7:15am. There is a train that runs at this time, departing from both Sarajevo & Mostar (we even passed the one running from Mostar to Sarajevo but we didn't get it on camera). We woke up bright and early and walked over to the Sarajevo train station.
We purchased our tickets the night before so all we had to do was show the person at the desk our confirmation number that was sent to our email. Nice and easy! Quickly after grabbing our receipt we made our way through the station, up the platform, and onto the train.
The ride is SO smooth & provides some of the most stunning views of the Bosnian countryside. This train ride is one of the best kept secrets in Europe and something you HAVE to take if you're in Bosnia. There are excellent facilities on the train. It's equipped with a nice bar car & plenty of bathrooms, as well as more than enough bag storage if you're traveling with a lot like we are. After about two hours we arrived in Mostar!
We made the short walk to our Airbnb, dropped our bags off, & finished the morning with the greatest breakfast we've ever had at a restaurant called Urban Grill. We CANNOT recommend this restaurant enough. It's a must-stop if you're in Mostar.
Thank you so much for tuning in! We can't wait to show you around this beautiful city in a few days. See ya soon!

the biggest tip for the ride from sarajevo to mostar is "SIT ON THE LEFT SIDE!!!" on the left you get to see all the amazing views and on the right 90% of the time its a wall

The Balkans is surpringly some of the most beautiful rides you'll get in Europe. I went from Munich to Ljubljana and the views were stunning, going down through Bosnia from Croatia was so-so but this ride was something to this day I'll never forget, my eyes were absolutely blessed

Man I couldn't agree more with you on that!!! It's a region of Europe that I feel is super popular with budget travelers but gets overlooked far too often by people going on vacation to Europe. The entire time we stayed in Bosnia we couldn't believe the beauty, & this train experience was unquestionably the highlight of our time. It's incredibly cheap & so underrated!!!

I’m watching this while staying in Dubrovnik. I visited Mostar yesterday, the old town is beautiful and the colour of the water in the Neretva is unbelievable. The countryside is beautiful and the Kravice waterfalls were a welcome respite to the heat.

Man, I can't recommend enough trying to find a way to take this train journey. Sarajevo's such a cool city & definitely worth a day trip if possible. You're absolutely right about the Neretva. It's unbelievably emerald. And it's sooooo much colder than we anticipated😂 Enjoy Dubrovnik & try to get into the water if you can. It's crystal clear in some spots & makes for a great way to get out of the heat. Thanks so much for taking the time to watch our video Damian!! We really appreciate it!!!

I did that trip 2 days ago and were lucky to sit on the left side of tje train both ways. I was tired as we needed to get up pretty early but I couldn't take ky eyes off the window. I actually didn't do some research about the ride in advance but maybe that was good so I could enjoy this trip and have been stunned the whole 2 hrs which went by so fast. 😮😊 This train ride is a big hidden gem in Europe!

Interesting fact about this river that you probably don't know. Wikipedia: The Upper Neretva has water of Class I purity and is almost certainly the coldest river water in the world, often as low as 7-8 degrees Celsius in the summer months. Search: Which Is The Coldest River In The World?

River flows thru limestone all the way and since it is clear water and limestone is reflecting just green/blue part of visible color wave thru water, Neretva is getting this color :)

Bosnia is beautiful country, traveling with train to the sea was one of few good experiences of my life. Also Bosnia could do more if people who generally speak the same language would focus more on economics(tourism, agriculture etc) and less on ethnic fights and endless "us vs them vs those" stupidity. In Bosnia you can really meet exceptional people, see amazing nature and heritage and for people from EU, USA etc. stuff here is really cheap and hospitality is probably the best in the world.
@ProbablyLost

It's definitely an incredible country!! I think the thing for us was that it just completely shattered our expectations of what we thought we'd experience. As Americans, our first thought is naturally to think about the war when we think of Bosnia. Which is why A) we wanted to visit so bad & B) we were so blown away by every aspect of it (i.e. the culture, the people, the food, etc.). We fell in love with Bosnia & always tell our friends back home that they really need to travel there at some point. It's such a stunning, beautiful country. We can't wait to get back! Thank you so much Eric!! The language is a Serbo-Croatian mixture. A few of the Balkan countries we've been to seem to speak mostly the same language, with some different variations based on the country. It feels like the whole world is just INSANELY hot right now! We went for a walk this morning at 9am and stopped after like 20 minutes😂 You're definitely on to us with the content!! We're currently in Tirana, Albania and we have 7 vlogs that have been filmed but not edited & posted. So we're trying to post 3 vlogs every other week in hopes that we'll be fully caught up by the end of September.
