Bangladesh has a secular constitution with a population with secular mentality, yet the population is more religious and observant than the Pakistan. Bangladesh does not have so many people attacking Islam like the Pakistani atheist do. Bangladesh is also ahead of Pakistan in every field of social and economical sectors. I have to say without meaning to offend, Pakistans political Islam has corrupted the Pakistani society. It is the least favourable Muslim country in the Muslim world. Sometimes it puts rest of the Muslim population around the to shame.

I think these debates are useless until people get educated. And education brings awareness, awareness of yourself and your surroundings. You start to make your home, your neighbourhood better and when everybody is doing it, everything starts getting better. For past 75 years, the reformation is tried be brought from top but it always starts from the grass root bottom and goes upward. Average Pakistan is not educated. What you call schools and colleges are abomination to education if you compare it with the world. What some of our students do and achieve is purely their own talent, hard work and luck. System has nothing to do with it. That's why there is lack of equity. So the solution is here: Every priviliedge person (Everybody is privileged in someway), should try to get awareness about their surroundings (what's lacking, what can be made better, how can it be made better, who should I communicate, how should I communicate etc. etc.) and create awareness about education and its importance. It should be the ultimate focus of our nation. To get knowledge, solve problems and be patient. Best system will automatically evolve in a generation or two.

Jinna became Governor General of Pakistan. He dismissed Govt of KPK and Sind with his extra constitutional powers/ dictatorship. he enjoyed the tremendous power without being PM before death in 1948. PM was Liaqat Ali Khan and Jinna was Governor General. Jinnah relaxed without putting much efforts for future of Pakistan like Land reform, constitution making, Panchayati Raj System, buildinmg educational instituitions, Irrigation system for barren lands, boring tubewells. he touched couple of political and philosophical references here... Geist by hegel....well it is just a theory...not an empirical evidence or a logic....so to quote it to deny role of religion in statecraft makes no sense at all..... then he said in Islam, there was no concept of democracy rather election of ruler confined to select few called shura.... he is utterly misinformed, in the theories of caliphate by Ghazali and others, the shura was to scrutinize and nominate the candidates for caliph and vote on it, later by Ba'yat, general populace was to give assent... some view Shura had kind of defacto power to appoint caliph while other muslim philosophers of same period argued that populace could veto the selection of caliph by Shura..... i side with the second group and to me the popular veto power was a crude form of republicanism (democracy).... Even the members of Shura were kind of nominated by the populace (this way shura was synonymous to modern day electoral college)... So to say that Islam was antithetical to democracy is lack of understanding of muslim political thought. Finally, when asked about why there should not be a rule of religion in statecraft, well his reason was simply an insinuation and completely lacked rational logic... his insinuation is that human civilization has reached to a point where individualism in religion is the only successful way to develop and compete for a society.. as if it is the ONLY practical and successful way to continue thriving as a society... what a logically destitute statement..... just bcz some western countries succeeded in economy/society, it surely does not mean that one should give the credit of their success to efforts made to dismantle the religion in collective lives.... for his and other's information, secularism is a construct born out of peculiar circumstances in the europe during 16th and 17th century when there were inquisitions against the protestants and hugonots etc and Luther had to introduce the concept of individualizing the religion..... Church those days served as an institution of political control.... While there is no such parallel in Islam... In Islamic history, mosques never played the role of political maneuvering... so, there has never been a reason to eliminate Islam from statecraft... What his response should have been ( unfortunately, owing to him, perhaps, being misinformed of Islamic political history, he did not touch it...) that the doors of ijtihad should have never been closed.. which were closed as a reaction to Mutazillites by Asharites... It had lot to with the rationalist (Mutazilites) bcz they went too far in the rational approach that they even touched the sacred elements of religion such as fundamental Islamic beliefs like Tauheed (tried to rationally prove it using the Greek thoughts)... So rationalists were to be partly blamed for discontinuation of Ijtihad.. the other party to be blamed was the Asharites...they overreacted and failed to see the utility of reason and logic in improve the human society and the way human live... They succeeded in persuading the rulers that reason was to be abhorred, banned and detested... My final words are, religion is not to be blamed for the current state of muslim world, it is the lack of ijtihad that has caused miseries on us.... blaming Islam for the mess our ruling elite created over the centuries is historical wrong and amateur to say the least...

So Muzammil there are various flaws in the thesis you have put forward, To begin with your whole point is about how successful West is due to secularism, the thing is the west is really involved and it funds even now, the genocide of human beings. There materialistic success is because the British looted the wealth of India and was the first to experience industrial revolution, there's no magical secularism behind that. In fact what secularism has produced is worse than any religion has ever produced. The western nations can literally do anything to safeguard their interests, they can kill innocent ppl and do any inhumane thing possible, and as far as countries like Denmark are concerned, so their safety really lies in being non-violent because they can not afford wars like the heavy weights of EU, which all by the way are involved in war like France and UK. Japan similarly supports USA and has QUAD alliance with the USA, so the USA has progressed because it can mercilessly genocide any nation, Iraq for instance and other countries like Japan progress because they are under the shadow of the USA. and if indeed western secularism is what brings progress then how come China experience such a dramatic rise, and if religious states fail then how is Israel the most powerful nation on earth which was based on a religious ideology. Conclusively, I really laugh when you say western nations respect human rights, well they may do of their own ppl but they are really the nations that have killed the most number of human beings on earth, and that is what distinguishes a religious state from a secular state(taking about Islamic state particularly) and Yeah countries are now moving to post-secularism with Denmark even banning the burning of the Noble Quran in public.

You call yourself syed and on the same time you have such an ideology about Islam that it is fine to practice individually and if it so then what's the purpose of NAMAZ im Majid, Eid prayers, Umrah, Ramzan are all those individual practices. These are the proof that to be a complete religion Islam must be practiced collectively. What about the Sayings of the Prophet(PBUH) about Islamic system before qayamat , were those just theological??? "It's not the eyes but the hearts that are blind". Why are you relying so much on democracy and you are showing Islam as a religion of just prayers. Islam doesn't stop us to follow democracy or secularism but it has some certain rules which were strictly mentioned in Quran and sayings resultany these systems have some serious issues for which we cannot follow them and hence we have only Islam as an option. On one side you are saying that logical school of Islamic thought should be encouraged but on the same time you're saying that Islamic pillar system is out dated. We can make a system according to the modern era by getting help from Quran and Sunnah , not saying to overwrite the preachings. One thing must have to be cleared that Islam always fits according to the age.I request you Mr @AbbasHaider that next time you must raise these questions Infront of these kind of so called Secular individual Muslims.

First of all, there is a difference in Mazhab and Deen. Islam is Deen. I think you should gain some knowledge before talking on such a deep concept. Islam always makes a Muslim strong, knowledgeable and productive. It is not Islam, we as Muslims are the real cancer for Islam, when we do not follow our religion. We made no progress, we have become lazy. Those were the Muslims who invented many things and gave Europe ideas. It is our fault that we did not gain any benefits from our ancestors and carried on legacy of knowledge in Science. And you talked about orthodox Jews, they have firm belief in Toarah.
