been following your dream with you from day one. Your first ocean passage was a difficult one by all accounts. One word - WINDVANE - just finished reading Jessica Watson's book about her solo voyage and she said she had a windvane AND two electronic auto pilots as backup.. wind vanes are like $3000 ... 300 of us donate $10 bucks.. job done! who's in?
@steveolson45847 жыл бұрын
Absolutely a windvane would help!! Hand steering short distances is fun...not so much longer distances. I'd consider something like a Hydrovane. ;)

Thanks Tracie!! We got your donation! A windvane is very important in our eyes now aswell, the idea of mechanical instead of computer gets me excited. Because I can fix it then haha we are investigating into all types of windvanes and also a replacement auto pilot. Your donation will definately assist us in contributing to this! Thanks legend!

I don't care what anybody says but you guys pulled off a feat that most couch adventurers couldn't even come close to accomplishing! You truly were put through the paces in a condensed time. 50 knot winds and sustained 45 knts...that is not for the light hearted. You guys rock. Fair winds to you both!

Swinging around that mast like a tether ball! C'mon man, if you get knocked senseless where's that gonna leave Bonita? It's not just you out there. Sometimes you gotta let Neptune win a battle so you can continue the war. Fantastic video! Tells the real story, no sugar coating. Thank you for that. I've heard it described that being horribly seasick on passage as "Crossing The Ocean By Rail". That is, leaning over the rail, chundering! lol! Be safe! Be smart. Believe!

..I've always found that the womenfolk have a somewhat better grasp of physics than we menfolk do. We say "Why Not!?", and they say "WTF (with a silent "is wrong with you")!!?" Luckily, Bonita's good at vocalizing her intuitive wisdom regarding such things, thus saving one Yosh's bacon.. Teamwork, and the correct decibel level in delivery, often saves the day. Hoorah! I agree with so many others: you're both real, and much appreciated for it. You're doing a fantastic job documenting your experience, particularly when all the alarm bells are ringing. Way to go, Bonita, laying down the law! Way to go, Yosh, respecting your partner. You'll eventually master that damn engine, but by then you'll be comfortable with the notion of going without it. Great vid under trying conditions. I can't wait for more.

About as real as it gets. Great job! Check that when you have finished starting your engine that the starter motor is not still running due to a problem with the starter switch. Also make sure that the main power cable on the starter motor connected to the main stud is not loose and cannot sag down and touch the start wire otherwise this will engage the starter motor when the engine is running and burn out the starter motor. Always investigate any chattering sounds, shut the engine off if you have by pulling the stop button to to check that the starter is not running. Starter motors aren't designed for prolonged running and will quickly burn out if left running for any time. You can usually buy just the solenoid for a starter motor if that is the only bit that has failed and it is a big brand (Bosch Denso etc).
@mathewdavis-adventuresandd66437 жыл бұрын
Yup, you definitely do not want that starter re-engaging while the engine is running. Been there done that $$.

ding ding ding haha, we can see how it would break couples up, but it definately only brings us closer. YOu can never hold a grudge and always trust your other half.
