Please tell us what happened to it. I work as a gardener for a company working around town and try to rescue trees like this when people throw them out. Even in mid summer I try. And have had some success. Sometimes they survive and I don't know how, except I do use sphagnum moss, as you suggest, if I can find enough of it that I can afford. I wrap them up in it and put them in a pot with soil around that and have saved some trees with rock hard and dry root balls. But not drowned trees, which is rare. This information for rescuing dry and wet trees is vital. So, Peter, please can you tell us if this tree made it. And others like it. Very interesting stuff. Thank you.

I havent had much luck with flooded trees either. I think next time I have a chance I am going to de-soil, dry pretty well, then use a rooting compound or dip on the roots, repot. and see what happens with a light watering schedule.

Lost my JWP this year, it had been well looked after and the watering regime hadn’t changed. After taking it to a specialist it was clear it had been overwatered to my surprise, he put it down to the heavy rainfall we had earlier in the year causing pooling of water in the pot damaging to the symbiotic mycorrhiza. If I had tilted the pot it would’ve been ok.

Thank you Peter for this video. I wish I would have seen this a few months ago, my white pine just died this summer. I repotted it, probably with too much compost causing it to hold too much water in the soil thereby drowning it.

About 3 weeks ago I had removed all the leaves from my oak tree. The tree looked to be dying, not sure why. Scraping the bark it's still green and alive but should I now place it in the garage as it has no leaves anyway.

Hi, I´ve got a blue one in a clay-y type of soil in the open (not in a pot) since only two years or so (in-pot-bought), and it dropped quite a lot of needles. I´m wondering if that is still normal for the cold season, or there´s another problem, maybe with the soil or something...

Hello Mr. Chan, i bought a beautiful white pine a couple of weeks ago and the needles turn a bit brown. I’ve seen all your videos and i still can’t really say what i’m doing wrong. The moss on top makes it hard to estimate if the tree is too dry or too wet. I saw another clip about this matter and he removed the moss and replaced it with akadama soil for a better estimation. What is your opinion about this?
@LounoirRecords
@LounoirRecords 4 жыл бұрын
when the current year pine needles turn brown means that they haven't died recently but loooong ago which in turn means the roots have died long ago 1:24 that thing is unfortunately as dead as can be, RIP :((

Pine needles are constantly dieing... Every year the needle growth from 2-3 yrs ago will turn brown from early September and drop. If you see the present years growth turning brown... Then the tree has a problem.

Hi there, beginner here... I've left my Maple in the sun for too long, I've read that I should remove the leaves because otherwise it won't grow any new ones and it will keep the scorched ones. Should I prune all these leaves or leave a couple? Can anyone recommend a video maybe? Thanks!

Very effective for the Bonsai Polyter® saves at least 50 to 80% of water consumption, increase acreage decreasing water yield while reducing fertilizer consumption 30 to 50%. Increase acreage decreasing water yield, accelerate crop cycles of 1, 5 to 3 times and optimize the performance, quality and keeping the productions. The resumption of young trees close to 100% and in all types of soils and climates, allowing the trees to have a development at the leaf mass and production, faster than a tree without

I don't understand. When you have such beautiful trees why not investing in a simple automatic watering system.
@danbanham728
@danbanham728 4 жыл бұрын
How would an automatic watering system know which trees to water? some soil may be dry, some may be wet. Some trees consume a lot of water some only a little. The skill of watering is knowing when to water and when to hold back.
@Intemporality
@Intemporality 4 жыл бұрын
@@danbanham728 if you have good drainage and proper bonsai soil this won't be really a problem. At least it will be better than no water for a week. Plus, you can adjust the flow of each drippers and it exist simple timers with multiple ways switches.
@danbanham728
@danbanham728 4 жыл бұрын
@@Intemporality Yes that's a good point, if using modern substrate it's difficult to over water and adjusting the drippers or spray units can alter the amount of water delivered. I wouldn't trust anyone to water my trees.
