After his accident plus all of his fights what an inspiration for all people who face difficulties where they may not make it well take a look at this man. Bless you Vinnie for your courage and determination.

Haugen beat Vinny 2x, the first fight we had to pull Vinny's nose out of his ear. Haugen was so robbed. The second fight he beat Vinny even more. The 3rd fight, Vinny is so right Haugen could even cut him. Only because he couldn't chase him down. I had the honor of promoting as MGM when he fought Duran at MGM and Haugen fought Lopez.... Greatest press tour ever. Love Vinny, and Love Haugen even more. Great fun with these two.

For a long time I did not like Vinny Pazienza. I thought he was an over glorified club fighter. But after his broken neck and his comeback, I learned to respect him. As I grew older, I learned to like the guy. Much Love, Vinny. My best to you always.

Haugen clearly beat Paz’ ass in the first fight but was quite obviously robbed by home cooking judges. Anyone can watch that fight and see that Haugen beat him. Then Haugen absolutely destroyed Paz in the second fight. Paz looked beat up as hell after both of those fights.

I love Vinny but I've always been a fan of Greg Haugen too. You are correct about their first two fights. Haugen was robbed in Providence and then easily defeated Vinny in their second fight. Many believe Greg also should have been awarded the victory in their third fight. I saw Vinny's first fight against Roberto Duran live in Las Vegas. It was competitive, Duran floored Paz with a thunderous punch that almost KOd him but Vinny survived and won the decision. Duran was 43-years-old for that fight. Side story...I had a great seat for the fight, almost first row of the MGM Grand Garden Arena section that starts to rise above the main floor. It looked out directly in front of the ring (think 50 yard line but for a small ring). You're raised up just enough to have a perfect view of the fight. As I walked to my seat during the prelims I spotted a Mexican gentleman in the seat next to mine who must have weighed 400lbs. He was munching food in his left hand while holding an enormous drink in his right. Layers of his considerable girth were flopped over my chair leaving me no room to sit. All the surrounding seats were taken. I went to one of the ushers with this news and after confirming my story he brought me to an office. There some big shot said he would correct the situation. He certainly did. I was given a seat near ringside, best seat I've ever had for a major boxing match. After the fight Duran stayed around, leaning over the ropes to talk to his fans. I was one of those fans and that night I had the honor of meeting the great Roberto Duran. He was smiling, friendly and very gracious with his time. It was quite a thrill.

If Vinny thinks he beat Greg 2 out of 3 times he has no soul. Everyone knows who won. It is totally fitting that Vinnie worked with WWF and Vince McMahon. What could be more fitting for fake fighting than a fake champion. When Vince tried to tell Vinnie how and who was going to win the matches that night. Vinnie told Vince that he would just treat it like the 1st fight with Haugen. As long as Vinnie avoided getting KO'd, the judges would make sure he would win any decision. Vinnie's movie should have been called "Cheat for This" cuz who would bleed for a fixed fight.

Haugen may have been mouthy but he acknowledged that Paz was tough after the fights. I listened to a podcast about a decade ago where they interviewed Haugen. He mentioned that Paz was the one fighter he enjoyed beating up. Old rivalries dies hard.

@@pogglethelesser-fx5bf I think Paz was a good fighter but not as great or in the great category as Roy Jones Jr. or Roberto Duran and to Vinny's credit he has been complimenting Duran a lot lately as do many of the boxing pros. In fact in another video he acknowledges he fought Duran when he was an old many and even joked that he fought him when he was 87 years old; which he was paying homage to his 87 wins when he fought him. He also mentioned Duran was hard to hit and couldn't imagine what it would be like when he was 25. On another note the irony to Vinny's loss to Roy Jones Jr. who is probably one of the best P4P fighters ever, he had one great round against RJJ which demonstrated his skill that he was a good fighter, but of course Roy in his his prime was unbeatable and caught up to all of his opponents very quickly. All of that said I don't see the cockiness in Vinny like I saw when he was younger. As much as I like that he is more honest and humble now it's also sad in a way because you can see he is little punchy, like many pro fighters end up being. Much respect for all of them, and if you see the interviews on all of those fighter almost all of them a very humble in their later years, but also beaten down to some extent one way or the other.
@pogglethelesser-fx5bf4 жыл бұрын
@@swmita Thank you very much for that magnificent statement about Paz and the other great fighters, and of course I agree with everything you just said about him. I just wish he would've given RJJ a little more credit in that interview is all, but of course being an Italian grease ball that he is won't give any black man none.
