I am all caught up on ALL of your material tutorial vids, and I can't thank you enough. You should be a teacher, seriously. Your repetition of method allows us to get to a point where we don't even need to pause your vids because we can see where you are going with it. It reminds me of studying CAD in college, but better! I also feel confident in making and combining material ideas of my own after your course. I will recommend your vids to anyone I know who becomes interested in Blender, which these days seems to be a growing interest.

Ryan, I've been watching your videos and I did some searching through your videos and didn't see something that I need. Maybe I'm way too new to 3d modeling, but if someone were to buy your material packs, do you have a video on how to properly apply that? Basically, I am working on car 3d models for a video game and as you could guess... this dirty metal, rust, scratched plastic, etc are all right up my alley. I can't get my blender to look exactly like yours so I've kind of given up on creating them and would like to try to apply them. I'm going to support your channel in at least one way, but I want to be able to use the things I buy. Thank you for the great videos, it's given me an amazing amount of ideas.

There are two main ways to add a Procedural Material into another Blend file to use in your projects: The first way, is to append in the material. To do that, open the blender file that you want to add it into. Then click on file, and append. Then a file browser will appear in Blender, and you will need to locate and select the other blender file that has the materials. (Like my Procedural Packs) Then when you click on the blender file it will show you the data that you can append in. You will then go into to the material folder, and then select the materials that you want to append. Then click on the append button. Then simply select the object you want to add the material to, and in the material slot, just select the material. The other way to add in materials, is to use Blender's asset browser. I have a video on how to use the assets browser here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/roaVlGN8i7uYh68 After the material has been added to the object, you can tweak the procedural material to your liking, like for instance, changing the scale of the material, or changing the color of the car paint, ect... Hope this helps! And if you do purchase some of my materials, thanks for your support!

@@RyanKingArt Thank you for the help, I'll be buying the packs for sure, eventually getting onto your patreon. My biggest struggle with learning this stuff is not knowing the terms for things. For example, it took about 3 Google searches and a random forum post for me to see the term "baking a texture" which lead me to your videos :)

Hi, Ryan. I tried Substance Painter/Designer but they're very heavy and hardware demanding. Do you think I can replace them using Blender nodes properly? Another thing: when baking to an external program, do I need to work with the UV input or the Object UV could work?

Hi Ryan, first thanks so much for your vids, they have really helped me start making some cool materials in blender. I had a question that you may have already covered but I cant find it. Im making some chipped paint and its going good so far. The only problem is they are evenly distributed around the object. Its a spaceship so I was wondering if I could give it a gradient so there is more chips on the front than at the back. Is there a way to set that up with nodes, or maybe I should I paint vertex groups and use two materials with different amount of scratches?
@RyanKingArt
@RyanKingArt 2 жыл бұрын
Yes, you can totally do that with Procedural Nodes. Although its kinda hard to explain it all in text in this comment. But you could do that with the Procedural Nodes. There is a gradient node in Blender that you could use, to to tell the chipped parts where to be.

I switched to a different ViewportShader. and as i did it. i realised all my textures went to the original colour of the texture i started them with, some being black, blue, and white. i switched it back, thinking it was a visual glitch. but it showed the same. i looked in my textures and they turned to pure white and black... after 3 hours of making a texture i was proud of. this happened, please if you can. help me
