Honestly, I really like the look of the attempt 3. It looks stylized enough but pretty atmospheric. Did you discard it because you didn't like the looks or did you assume that it would take too long to draw in this style?

bit of a specific q, how do the coordinates in ur isometric system work? I'm guessing ur using diamond shaped tile sprites, rather than an orthographic camera rotated by 45°. so are the x,y axes of the game objects on a diagonal to line up with the isometric grid, or are they placed as they would be on screen with x and y representing vertical and horizontal position?

Coordinates are isometric too, so the axes follow the angle of the tiles

I did it myself - quite simple though! Just changes an object’s render layer depending on its height on the screen 😊

Thanks! That’s an old version of the game but you just take the position of the mouse at mousedown and then use the current position of the mouse while it’s held down and compare to calculate the area in between 😊
