Create rivers, trees, vines, and whatever else you can imagine procedurally!
Rivers:
The rivers are all spline generated with a material that increases the speed of the river based off of the slope angles of the geo and adds foam to the water at the tops and base of any water falls. So there is no extra work on your part. Just place it and go!
Moss:
There is also procedural moss placement on assets or vertex painted versions for the more precise individual.
Trees + Foliage:
Simply adjust the number of branches, the angle, the angle variance, twist of the tree trunk, the wind intensity, up to 4 separate branch types per spline, and all of this can be found on each individual branch spline. Customize them to your liking or copy and paste them all over! The branches randomize their position and rotation so no two will ever the same. It's even more powerful when you start swapping it with your own assets!
Terrain:
High quality hand sculpted zbrush normals and height maps. Turn tessellation on or off on some assets for next-gen looking models.
Rocks:
And of course rocks with the ability to have worldspace color overlays and normals so you can scale and rotate them at your will to any size or shape you'd like without any distortion to the worldspace rock material.
You can easily export any spline generated models that you create. Simply by selecting the generated meshes and using the export function. This can even be a quick modeling tool for your arsenal!

I'm not interested into buying contents but after seeing yours I will at 100%. Why? because simply you're one of the professional modellers I came across. What i mean by professional is that I can see you worked to fulfil the needs of other designers. Yes we like to use contents but we use it in our way, how we see things and how we imagine the environments may be very different than what the owner thinks, therefore its very very important for us a content that can be modified to suits our needs and yours fits that description, because simply you made it while thinking about the person who will use it. I just bought it right now and awaiting for future contents. Please update this page in future for links toward other new contents you may create: Desert, Mountains or a different season forest with different colours: grass, trees, leaves, flowers...etc

Definitely love your content and will buy it! But I have mixed feelings on the grass. It looks great but seems a bit bendy like most of them were all stepped on a few times and kind of worm-like compared to a natural, nice even curve going up then 20-30% downwards from the top. Although it is the most innovative grass I've seen compared to everyone else! Sorry if I offend you, just trying to help. : ) If it has a scale option (seems like it does) then I will definitely use it short in forrest like areas with another grass type and longer near water.
@PurePolygons
@PurePolygons 8 жыл бұрын
Hi Edward thanks for the comment and the interest :) No no haha not at all. I didn't take any offense. I believe I included multiple types of grass with some being a bit more straight ones as well. I simple prefered to use this grass for this type of environment. As I thought it added more interest and the grass feel a bit heavier and perhaps damp or wet like the type of environment I was going for. It's completely fine if you don't use the grass or use it in different ways. It's totally scaleable and you are free to use the pack in any way you like or some parts not at all haha. Enjoy :)

@ChimeraProd
@ChimeraProd 9 жыл бұрын
***** Thanks for the answer, I know in speedtree there is a material feature that seamlessly blends the texture when you add branches to a trunk. For example even though the branches and the stump are two different mesh's with different topology, the texture still looks seamless and it looks as if it is one continuos mesh. The texture also still looks seamless no matter where you intersect new branches. Its an amazing thing that I wish unreal had

Sorry if this is a stupid question, but i'm new to Unreal engine, and just have to ask. Is this just for making scenes, or can you make games with this iswell? Like, functional, playable games, where the player won't walk through a massive tree. Once again, sorry if thats a stupid question. Second, this is $79.99. What currency is that in? ( USD, AUD, NZD, etc )

***** Hey, I just had a couple more questions. Does this have multi-player support, and can you swim in the the water?
@PurePolygons
@PurePolygons 8 жыл бұрын
+Mr.Cat Hi Mr. Cat, as for the multiplayer support. That would be something on the networking side of the Unreal Engine that I am not very familiar with. I would assume that it does, but I have never been able to test it so unfortunately I couldn't tell you. And swimming in the water needs to have a "water volume" added wherever the user is. This is something that must be set after you have placed the river so that you can specify water depth, width, location, etc. But it is absolutely possible. Thanks!

Broadly, what is your approach for creating seamless transitions between the distinct spline segments? (i.e. root-to-trunk, trunk-to-branch, etc.) The noisy surface displacement seems to be flawlessly continuous from one spline to the next.
@PurePolygons
@PurePolygons 7 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the comments! I'm not really doing anything too fancy here, I believe it's just the displacement of the surface and the look of the texture that helps it to blend easily with the other intersecting splines :)
@FistFullOfAtoms
@FistFullOfAtoms 7 жыл бұрын
For example in i.imgur.com/KLcUUqq.png , there is no visible seam. The displacement seems to blend from the trunk into each of the roots very nicely. I would guess this was done using world-space displacement, but the displacement also seems to be aligned to follow the curvature of the splines.
@PurePolygons
@PurePolygons 7 жыл бұрын
That's correct, the displacement is aligned directly to the rotation and direction of the tree spline. There are no world aligned textures on the tree except for the moss coverage, but the tree bark simply mapped to the blueprint. It appears that the way the displacement works and the tiling texture of the tree just works very well for the purposes that I designed it for. Thank you so much for the compliments and noticing this :)

There are more terrain materials provided as well that you can paint over the surface of the ground to switch between the different textures and hide the tiling look of the ground plane. Wind is already applied to all of the plants, but for the trees it can be adjusted on the tree blueprint properties itself. Is it me, or the Interactive Tree Creator has more options for Tree customization, i di not found a guide do, to have a more clear idea, mave you should create a new video for this product, explaining the Tree options, not just for procedural, but materials, leave types, color editing posibilities, also not sure if this will only work as a hand made creator that we wont be able to duplicate with paint tool, please create a new video, more like a tutorial.

Unreal Engine 4. It is used to make many games and is known for high quality assets. Currently it is a free engine to the public as long as you pay royalties for any games you fully release for commercialization. In my case, I'm only making a game for personal use and I don't plan on releasing it as a full fledged game, so I can use it without needing to pay royalties.

+kai sun Hi there kai sun, there is a link in the description of the video showing a bit more how you can utilize the pack and place/adjust assets in the engine. As for the game creating part, the packs are all used for the environments to whatever you would want to create :) It doesn't include any of the gameplay elements or scripting to make your game work and that is so you can decide how you want to use it for whatever you want! I hope that helps

this is very interesting. what does procedural mean?
@PurePolygons
@PurePolygons 8 жыл бұрын
Hi bl00dyroar, It relates to how the things in the scene are created. It is procedural, because it uses Blueprints inside of the Unreal Engine to create the trees and rivers etc. So it requires less work from the creators and allows for more unique environments and artwork!

So that once all of the files are cached in UE4, you can then open the Demo Scene and it loads up much easier. I hope that helps!

I really like the idea of spline trees!! However the quality of the leave, grass isnt realistic enough for my game... =/

Friendly gamedev reminder: when going for realism always make sure you can slide the draw distance around and don't load full textures that are further away so you don't run into stability issues 😊

Is there a Redwood tree model with splines included in this pack?
@PurePolygons
@PurePolygons 8 жыл бұрын
Hi Charles, Thanks for the comment. In nature pack Vol.1 there is not a Redwood tree, but for future pack versions there will be completely new forest scenes and a redwood may absolutely one day be a part of a future pack :) I hope that helps!

It says in UE4 market not compatible with 4.10 Will this be updated?
@PurePolygons
@PurePolygons 8 жыл бұрын
+galadhlinn Hi there! Thanks a lot for the comment! I had just been told by Epic that the pack will finally be updated today as I had sent in the 4.10 compatibility update over a week ago now. Unfortunately, we don't have direct access to our files and so I am just waiting on the Marketplace Team to update the pack for me in the Unreal Launcher. In the meantime you can purchase any of the packs I have created including the Procedural Nature Pack and you will receive the update for free when the team adds the 4.10 compatibility into the marketplace! Also you can easily migrate the assets over to 4.10 by following the Unreal Documentation docs.unrealengine.com/latest/INT/Engine/Content/Browser/UserGuide/Migrate/index.html Nothing needs to be changed or adjusted to make the pack work in 4.10, all of the assets work great. It simply needs to be migrated using the process mentioned above :)

@PurePolygons
@PurePolygons 9 жыл бұрын
+Gilberto “Ossus” Solano Hi Gilberto, You can use the pack however it best suites your needs :) There may be some extra optimization required and awareness of lines of site as to not have hundreds of trees drawing at the same time, but using rocks to block the view occasionally or mountains would help. But you absolutely could!

What does procedural mean?
@PurePolygons
@PurePolygons 8 жыл бұрын
+KnightOfNostalgia Hi there, good question! It basically means that all of the artwork is created with "Procedures" or "Tools" inside of the Engine and can be adjusted or updated at anytime you want. The artwork isn't "Static" meaning that it can't be changed or adjusted without a considerable amount of work inside of other programs.
