I was struggling with making a stone material and yours one is not only perfect but you also give an explanation of how each node works and what exactly does it add to the material, so we can play around and adjust to our needs. Thank you very much for sharing your material and your knowledge!

This saved my butt, giving me the elusive texture for a large temple complex that I just couldn't pin down. On a very large scale like I'm using, I found that what works best is to just leave the very final bump map addition out of the equation. I just ended up muting the final bump and changing the scale of everything; I ended up adding a mapping node immediately after the coords (so I could scale the coords in the mapping node) and I switched to UV coords (which all had to be mapped) because they allowed for consistency among all faces; UV for any given face that was too stretched or compressed could be manipulated individually. So the whole thing ended up working very well. I run across these situations frequently, were a tutorial saves my behind, and each time it happens, I'm more and more appreciative of the people like Ryan King who take the time to make these videos and share what they've learned and discovered.

First of all, great tutorial! Though I have a problem with rendering this material: For my free-form Object I copied your stone material, exactly as shown in the tutorial. (Also added a subdivision and bevel modifier). During my render the surface fills up with more and more white dots until it becomes completly white where light is supposed to be. Also the shadow dissolves. In the render preview everything looks fine except for Ehen viewing trough the camera. I‘d be very greatful for help:)

@@RyanKingArt Thanks, I was doing the Tutorial again. I was monkeying with settings and found an interesting design, after removing the connection to the bump map to check something, and i got a really nice marble going, the marble was deep due to a bump map connected above.
