I didn't know that about the pencil sharpener! I can't wait to get my pencils out and try it! I found your channel about 2 months ago. You are so fun! I love seeing your process. I love your studio! I love the faces I've drawn. I'm practicing birds, I would love to be able to draw birds! I also enjoyed the art challenge you had with the glue bottles! I am new to art but I'm having tons of fun! Thank you!

Sandi, after bing watching multiple videos of yours, I stumbled across this one. I initiated the process of adding an under color to my work. It’s a game changer! I’m still working through not being so “precious” when I sketch and loosen up more. Thank you for allowing us into your studio! Be blessed

This was so helpful with the Bright under painting I like seeing the process videos. And who knew I didn’t know that about the pencil sharpener either until just now.🎉😂
@rachelleandrichard3 жыл бұрын
Omg that underpainting of a bright colour is a game changer for me. It totally makes it cohesive. I just wonder how it doesn't distract from the painting itself when you're first starting out. I'm so literal and find it hard to think more than one thing at a time. Does that make sense. I guess I'll give it a go. Process videos are great.

wow. Did not know pencil sharpeners were to be used that way way either, and now I'm feeling guilty about all the students I taught who would often volunteer to stay after school to sharpen the set of class pencils! I wonder if THEY knew but never told ME? Actually, it all makes sense now - my knife sharpener is also two stage (my husband had to point that out to me though, lol). AND - I'll bet that's why I cannot get my liner / brow pencils to sharpen correctly. You've really sharpened my thinking :)

Hi... I got that pencil sharpener. You can also change the blades and buy new ones. I like to sharpen my pencil (Blackwing Matte) with the first hole and leave it giving a blunt tip. I use the side of the lead to shade my drawings. I sometimes sharpen another pencil to the sharp point to save me some time.

Hi Sandi! Question: When you do an underpainting of an oil painting, do you do the underpainting in oil as well? Or do you use acrylic or something?
