The decision to bring back one of the most unbalanced abilities in a different form is baffling to this day. I am of the opinion that gear abilities should be minor changes and not impact the game in a major way. Grinding for abilities is not fun and to be at a disadvantage right off the bat because the other team is willing to no-life and get perfect gear abilities is annoying

I was always a little sad that I lost interest in 2 right before the Kensa weapons dropped since they looked really cool and as an undercover player I definitely would've enjoyed the kunder kit, but now I'm pretty glad that I dodged the MPU bullet lol. Praying that MPU's current absence in 3 will be permanent.

I still feel like MPU should have never included damage up with no counterplay. The buffs aside from damage are trash. The paint buff, range buff, jump rng and inkbrush run buff were all horrible when you compare it to getting more consistent falloff for SOME reason adding DPS to Hydra and allowing KPro, L3, H3 and Bamboo to kill much faster. I fantasize about what Splatoon would be if they buffed options to counter things that are overused. Best example: Instead of nerfing Ballpoint, how about buffing its natural predator: charger, so now more of those exist? Now team comps have back lines in them that aren't CJet! MPU was a horrible idea overall. ThatSRB2DUDE said it best when he said "instead of making me wear gear to get a small buff, just buff the weapon"

I like main power up to increase range, make it easier to paint, or to go faster (which is brush only lol) and the other little abilities for the other main weapon…. But damage up is stupid :S (sometimes) Someone running all main power up on a weapon that gets more damage is stupid. But someone like me who only runs 1 gear with pure main power, or just half is fine and good enough to give that extra little punch in damage. I kinda want them to ditch damage up for Main power up in Splatoon 3, bring back the normal damage up ability… but make it a gear exclusive (so no chunks for sub slots) or make it so you can only equip up to 1 main and 3 subs of the ability

The MPU MMMM I think if they DO add it to splat 3 they should use it as a main-only ability for hats. Hat abilities I've noticed give you extra subs or upgrades conditionally, so if nintendo sees damage up/main power up as a REQUIREMENT then it should activate for ten seconds after a kill (timer RESETS, does not extend), the equivalent of two mains of mpu. Doesn't take up too much gear space, forces normal kills, and I think should be non damage up for each weapon, eg dualies get an extra roll temporarily, aerosprays get more painting, chargers get range/charge speed (e liter), blasters have better ink efficiency, etc.

The biggest mistake they have made in those balance updates imo is making some weapons getting a ton of damage up with mpu ability. Such as splattershot pro for example. That one already has crazy damage. And instead of nintendo making mpu for that weapon to increase fire aim while jumping, nooooo let's make it damage up for that weapon (seriously to this day that choice still doesn't make any sense). I hope mpu wont cause damage up for weapons in Splatoon 3 anymore. Or else we get the same ridiculous situations of Splatoon 2 again

@@j.6267 yeah indeed, damage up or defence up for other weapons actually suck, try fight a mpu stacked brella on tower control, that really sucks. But I'm glad not all weapons have such mpu effect. Take Aerospray for example. I like that one because mpu makes it so much more useful. It doesn't do damage up, it makes the ink spread much better to improve inking. Almost no gaps with such build. That's what I like to see

They should replace Damage Up and Defense Up with 4 Gear Powers: 1.) Security Ink: This boosts the damage of the ink. The more slots of this, the more damage. Each time you are inked by an enemy not using Security Ink, Stain Blocker, Primer, or Counterfeiter your special meter decreases. 2.) Stain Blocker: This gives the user a reduction to all damage taken, being able to totally ignore the damage boost from Security Ink. 3.) Primer: This gives the user the ability to ignore Stain Blocker reduction and does bonus damage to Stain Blocker that increases with each slot of Primer. 4.) Counterfeiter: This Slot acts like Primer if your target is using Stain Blocker, like Stain Blocker if you are attacked by Security Ink, and Like Security Ink if you target a Primer User or a user that has Primer and Security Ink. This Reduces Swim Speed slightly. Counterfeiter ignores Counterfeiter. This can only be slotted in a Primary Slot. This creates enough craziness that some people might prefer not to slot any of these... But there are still benefits for doing so.

I wish MPU made it into 3 just being more like SPU where it just increases specific stats of the weapon like a slightly faster charge for splatling, chargers and brellas. better accuracy (including jump rng) and fire speed for shooters and blasters. Higher acceleration and top speed for rollers and brushes. finally more range for sloshers. And on top of that it should have been restricted to being a main ability only.
