Having played nova for a year the weapon feels pretty much unchanged and forgot about

i feel like nova shouldn’t even exist. a lot of shooters have really decent gimmicks with splash’s RNG, jet squelcher’s range, aerospray’s paint, squeezer’s dual modes, Nozzlenose’s burst fire, JR’s bomb spam, etc. but Nova is just. weak weapon for the sake of being weak that can paint alright. like what’s the point of giving a weak shooter middling subs that can’t help it fight in the slightest?? why can’t nova be a 4 shot?? i don’t understand why they couldn’t have just made it like dual squelcher from Splatoon 1, it’s not like it was hurting anybody

@@Fridgemasters the point is it's supposed to be a midrange support, sort of in between splattershot and pro. it feels basic because it's designed to be a basic midrange support weapon. the problem is it's just undertuned. i was a super big fan of nova when it first came out, i love the feeling of being an annoying pest & that's exactly how you play nova, but i just felt like i just wasn't having enough impact on the game, so i eventually lost my love for it.

Or if you are playing low level competetive with a dedicated team, I'd less so take into account how good or bad a weapon is and more so how flexible it is. Having everyone play 1 flexible weapon for your standard team comp is a great way to learn what your playstyle as a team is like, and gives you good foundation to alter that team comp. Good meta examples would be stuff like Vshot, Vdualies, or Tri Nouveau, but even a fair few low tiers can do that like H3, VPro, or Zap 89.

Tier list being designed for competitive play means there's assumption that you will play the weapon optimally with comp designed around it. Strong at optimal play doesn't mean it'll be easy to use or it'll be effective at suboptimal play. See weapons like clash blasters being on F tier despite getting easy wins in low ranks.

@@minamisoro clash is really a bad example of why these don't work. It only really works well at the levels that everything works well. It's clearly the worst weapon in the game at anything but bottom levels as it's a mistake punisher that eventually just runs out of mistakes to punish. It can be fun to run sometimes but the moment the other team has any idea how to fight it, it gets locked out of playing entirely. On the other side you also have weapons like shot which are stupidly easy at low levels and bordering best weapon in the game sometimes at high level. Tier lists sadly do mean things in this game and a lot of it does have to do with kit bias. Good weapons have good kits bad weapons have bad kits and there isn't enough changes in patches to change these lists up enough either.

It really is too bad that Hydra Splatling isn't competitively viable because it has the best kit it's ever gotten. I love playing it so much but I definitely feel the strain when displacement specials are thrown at me. There are some games where I literally don't get to do anything because I'm too busy running away and trying to reposition.

In solo, I love this weapon. I don't play at a high competitive like Chara intends this list to be considered, but this is easily an A/S tier weapon for me. It's only limited by some maps.

Novilla is now bottom tier it’s so joever I feel like with a few buffs Novilla and Novaki could get boosted up tiers, but also it’s been like nine months since it got even touched (3.1.0)*. Hopefully Nova3 will work really well and we can get something that will make it more significant (By touched I mean DIRECTLY, I know Wail got the buff which does help Novilla at least but still)

Vanilla nova is incredibly slept on. I haven't seen anybody talk about the range advantage that nova has that allows it to demolish most weapons that'll be rushing it if you have a solid retreat option. Point sensors and wail both combo with that range and support the rest of your team.

I had a similar idea, but for when it hits a player. After making contact, a little echolocation circle like Autobomb's is send out from the hit player, and if anyone is within that radius then the dart fires the rest of its distance towards that other player. Basically, it ricochets off of players if there's another player nearby.

I love the hydra splatling as I'm 5⭐with it and I try to push like a midliner and be more aggressive. I completely understand why you put it in D rank as the charge up time is so slow and moving while mid-charge is like walking in slow motion. That's why I like to put run speed (lot's of it) on. Love your videos.

As another 5 star Hydra main, run speed is so necessary for Hydra to have a teensy bit of mobility. I've toyed around with a few main abilities and I've landed on thermal ink since it's nice to see people. Though I usually only get extra aggressive and push mid when there's another person to help handle backline in solo queue. It sucks that it's in D tier, and I hope we get to see another (hopefully good) kit on it soon, but it's also a deserved D tier for now.

Mini spatling had just turned to my number 1 most used and i use stamp for either preengagement to prevent enemy team from advancing or 1v1. Just play stamp like sploosh was the best advice I got.

Not comp but I find Custom Jr. really good in solo queue just due to its ability to cause chaos and lets teammates know where every enemy is. Its just nice, easy to play it as an aggro support. Torpedo for dealing with range, main weapon has good paint, torpedo and wave breaker works together for overwhelming the enemy and I can swoop in while they're distracted by it all. ....Could just be me tho xD

I think vanilla Junior fulfills that role better. Splat bombs are way more threatening than torpedos and you can use bubble to guard the zone from being painted. Wave breaker also ain't that good and there's ton of often played point sensor weapons in soloq right now (looking at you, custom blaster). But maybe I'm just biased, considering I love splat bombs and have been maining the splat bomb junior since splatoon 2.

aerospray (vanilla) main here! i actually really love the weapon although it can be super comp dependent. usually i see a bunch of people run ninja squid while playing but i run a bunch of swim speed instead. nobody will think that youre gonna come at them that fast and it helps while also allowing you to do annoying movements to better your survival. i love flanking with the weapon too, especially if no one sees it coming. fizzy is really good in general obvi and i mainly use reefslider to either get in or out or try to get an assist or too during chaotic times. in general, the best thing you can do with the weapon is either cause or take advantage of chaos

Flingza in C tier is yeah that’s acceptable, I’m a flingza main and have been since day 1, and I really think it could benefit from a new kit like Burst/Auto and Rain, which would help it get in and be a menace while also able to be support type. Though you could replace rain with cooler I reckon if you want a full on support We just need an actual (good) bomb because the amount of times I’ve been in situation where a bomb would’ve helped me rather than a mine that doesn’t kill, would be too many times to count.

I disagree with your ranking of blob deco ( I don't play the vanilla ), although am a casual I see a lot of good synergy with deco's kit. If you get a direct with angle shooter the 40 damage done by it makes it so easy to finish off a kill and although aiming with it can be tedious, being able to see where the opponent is from the angle shooter makes it a lot easier to hit with blob. Even though its hard to direct angle shooters it's still rewarding to throw them because your bound to mark somebody as the enemy team would have to go through too much effort to avoid getting marked. Also another thing I would like to add is angle can act like a burst bomb in the sense that you can paint your feet to move faster and more importantly paint the walls to climb up faster instead of using blobs wall paint. As you said in the video this weapon gets rushed a lot which makes the special this weapon has even better. With Kraken you can defend yourself while being more threatening from the location given by angle shooter. Not only that but its very easy to spam kraken with it. I think this weapon does struggle on maps where kraken is hard to maneuver or angle shooter shots are hard to hit or both. This is from a casual standpoint but their is a lot of good synergy to be had imo. I think this weapon is the most enjoyable and fun out of all the other options with angle shooter, as it gets rid of blobs annoying flaws. I still wish they would add more to angle shooter to make the directs slightly more rewarding though.

I’ve been playing annaki shot a lot throughout this month because the weapons I mostly use are kinda stale but it’s honestly pretty good (from my perspective). Squiffer’s range on a shooter makes it a decent mid-long range weapon and mines can help it defend its teams base from the rm carrier, power clams, and can paint zone if they’re triggered. It’s a decent kit imo.

Vunder is a Zones weapon in general, tbh Like, it's got the Slider cheese, but it's got mines to help it cling to the zone a little longer than other weapons that want to cheese the zone. It's a weapon that loves playing defense. Either that or Sunder is worse than everyone says cuz I really don't see a huge gap in usage or performance between them

Rework clash remove like 20% of the outside hitbox, buff the paint heavily, and turn the damage into Rapid damage numbers so it can direct into indirect for a kill or kill with 3 indirects, slow the fire rate by like 2-3 frames, and give it the sploosh movement treatment The fact that the weapon exists in the way it does is a travesty, how a weapon with such an amazing vanilla kit is in the worst tier is indicative of a severe design deficiency Just make it the blaster that can actually paint in a similar vein to reeflux (just don’t give it actual reeflux paint we don’t need that many zookas) and has a consistent up close kill time while reducing the hitbox size so it’s not glaringly obnoxious for low level

My god kit for the Undercover Brella is actually Burst Bomb and Killer Wail or Tacticooler. Both of the latter are better for farming Assists, to regen your shield, and Burst Bombs are cheaper than Torpedos and still combo off one shot direct or two shots indirect.

I think Tristrike is fine on VBrella, the main issue with it is that the special takes away a lot of your options but it's not really a problem with the kit. The main problems with VBrella are the sub and the main weapon itself. Sorella's kit was cool but it didn't fix my biggest peeve with Brellas which was its main weapon inconsistency so I went back to VBrella.

As a person who mained the Luna blasters for a while, I have moved on since, the two shot is not worth having such a short range and horrible special when there is a lot more that does better than them with better kits

Have the devs ever given a clear, definitive answer as to why they continue to insist on having fixed kits instead of just letting players pick their own main/sub/special combo like any other game? Imagine no more having to beg for third kits. No more promising kits getting cucked by including reefslider, or dart, or both. Honestly, simply having the s92 kit in the same game as the 91 is testament enough as to why the kit system is fundamentally flawed if you ask me. At the very least I wonder why the devs aren't open to reworking existing kits the way they rework maps or edit points for special.

Hearing Nzap 89 would be higher if someone competitive pushed for it felt so validating. It’s amazing at just painting and can handle its own.

As a Sploosh-o-matic and Aerospray main, I was disappointed in the fact that they're pretty low tier and that Blob is mid tier as a Blob main. Then again, I'm glad this is using the Splat Zones meta because I don't use those weapons in Splat Zones anyway. But as someone who has also used the N-Zap 89 for Splat Zones, it sort of sucks that it's considered C tier.

Only 2 new seasons left in the game. Probably won't get the buffs we need to fix a lot of weapons. Probably have to wait for splatoon 4 then they'll over buff and patch them and make them weak again like sloshing machine.
