In Splatoon 2, they still don't consider brushes their own class. They're still considered rollers. I really hope that changes in 3 because I'm pretty sure that's why we barely have any brushes is because Nintendo thinks they're just a form of rollers even though anyone who's remotely competent knows that brushes and rollers don't play even a little bit alike. They just can both "roll" although for both, that's not the best way to use them. It's better to flick both. But yeah, I hope 3 realized that they should be their own class so we can get more new types of brushes because I feel like they could make cool new brushes if they were willing to
@alvaro9842 жыл бұрын
but they are different weapons in the octo canyon, I think they are considered already as different classes
@loganmiller78272 жыл бұрын
@@alvaro984 if you sort by weapon type in the gear changing menu, if you push the sort button while hovered on a brush, it will pull up all the rollers and then show you the brushes after all the regular rollers. If you do it on a regular roller, the brushes will come up after those before moving onto the shooters. From a development stand point, rollers and brushes might be considered the same class. They definitely started that way in the first game, something we can see from early gameplay and/or trailers. Octo Canyon is the only place where brushes are treated as separate enough to be considered distinct. I think the same is true for blasters. I think they see brushes as a sub class of sorts for rollers when they should be seen as a 100% distinct class because brushes play extremely different from rollers, even if both can do different things between holding down and tapping ZR

I don't know why nintendo considered brushes as rollers. If they had a vertical flick I would believe it but they don't. That is saying that splatlings are chargers.
@greenguy90902 жыл бұрын
. I'm 99% sure the reason Nintendo had the first trailer be so awkward and slow was because they still had the "we have a casual fan base" idea stuck in their heads. And because splatoon was such a unique game they wanted to make sure it was simple and easy to see/understand. I actually think that mindset was incorporated into splatoon's overall design, which really hurt the first game, (at least it's balance) which then carried over into splatoon 2. Roller for example, Nintendo thought the roll mechanic was an actual good part of the weapon so in most of the footage shown of it they had them rolling, including the dynamo! Despite the fact that anyone who's even a little good at video games can just shoot the roller walking slowly at them, so in splatoon 2 the roll mechanic is still awful. It actually kind of feels like, splatoon 1 was too chaotic, so in splatoon 2 they compensated way too hard which then turned splatoon 2 into a boring game. So now splatoon 3 seems to be evening out the odds.

the circling of the reticle for the echolocator fucking killed me i didnt even notice what the problem was until you pointed it out- explanation for 1:10 and 14:47, in the japanese version of splatoon both the terms インクリング (inkulingu) and オクタリアン (okutarian) exist, but are almost ALWAYS shortened to the much shorter イカ (ika, squid) and タコ (tako, octopus). this change sounds all fine and natural in the japanese version of splatoon as 'inkulingu' and 'okutarian' sound too clunky and full of syllables. i guess here they tried to directly translate this change that happens in japanese, but it never really caught on in english because 'inkling' and 'octarian' sound perfectly fine to say.

What I find so funny about the ink mine part where you talk about the hotbox being so small… so recently I played Splatoon 1 for the first time ever and in one of my matches someone a week into playing.. on Mahi I ended up walking on a mine with 2 teammates following right behind me and it got all three of us… I really wish I could have saved a clip of it as it was ridiculous!

What if you looked up to splat someone with a charger, but you said "nah I won't pull the trigger please splat me instead I will stand still to make it easier for you."

The reason for "we prefer to call them squid/octopus" is because this is clearly directly translated from the Japanese, and "inkuringu/okutoringu" are indeed a lot harder to remember and say to a Japanese person than plain old "ika/tako."

I remember the very first teaser and I assumed it was an indie western game due to the squids eyes and not realizing it was a Nintendo ip til the end of the teaser

I also thought the same, especially when at the same time Wii U owners began playing Indie games because there was nothing to play on Wii U at the time.

Wow, the way they presented this looks REALLY tame compared to the more recent videos. They really didn’t expect this game to pop off as it did.

I recently went back and tried the weird controller. It's not that bad, Wii motion plus isn't that bad. Although it requires larger hands.

I remember being so disappointed that ranked wouldn't be open on day 1. But Im pretty sure it opened the 2nd or 3rd day of release so it wasn't too terrible.
