Haha. We used to back in the day. More than five years ago now. The problem for me was I felt like I had to write every piece of content with one hand behind my back. So that you don’t take away too much from the course itself. Personally, I much prefer being able to give away it all.

I'd recommend you scale down this social media calendar to a level that's doable for you. The most important part of social media, as I talk about in The Social Ministry Mountain later in this video, is #NoWeeksOff. You need to develop a sustainable rhythm for your church.

It seems like Facebook prioritizes reels over video posts, which means social sermons need to be 60 seconds or less for Facebook. Saw a big drop on views when doing the 90-second social sermon on FB. Didn't affect Insta since they auto post videos as reels and can be over 60 seconds. So thinking about keeping social sermons 60 second reels??? Not sure why 90, which forces a video. Okay for Insta though. Just a realization after experimenting.

Love the content, as always! We're gearing up to pitch a lot of this material to our new media team and I'm looking forward to seeing how our reach grows in 2024. How would you suggest churches incorporate the promotional side of things too? I definitely want our focus to shift away from promotion to giving people added value through our content, but we do a lot of community events and have several partnerships with other organizations in the area and love to connect with them on social, especially since FB events and local groups are great tools in our area for advertising outreach events. What's the balance there? Do we keep our posting schedule consistently about the sermon material like this video suggests then add in other things as they come up? Move those things into events and stories instead of in the same spaces as our other posts? Reserve those types of posts for Saturdays when the only other material posted is the blog on the website? I'd be interested in hearing your thoughts

Brady, you suggest to delay a week. If you post your service live, and then post your SM content from last weeks service, would that create a disconnect with your content?

Because we're not creating mini-recaps of the sermon, we're creating mini standalone sermons essentially. Which are evergreen. Meaning they have no expiration date. Which is crucial for discovery algorithms because when a post does well it will be viewed for weeks and even months after it was first published.

The best supplemental content is going to be photos of your church family. And then you can sprinkle in promotional posts here and there so long as they don't eclipse 20% of your overall posting volume.

We are beginning to follow a stripped down version of the social media calendar for our church, Cornerstone Baptist Church of Edmonton. Two reels a week, a carousel post, and a blog post. Once we get those established and can do them efficiently every week, we will expand into some of the extra posts.

We train churches to be ready to 1) Reply to comments 2) Move willing people to Private Messages 3) Be ready for a deeper conversation 4) finally move them to on-the-ground connection.

Just finished the whole video and it was so good. I wanted to know if you had more information on one section, the intersection of offline and online. Specifically, what are the tangible ways all the staff and those involved in the ministry can support the online activities (e.g., everyone engaging in the Church’s social media posts through commenting, liking, sharing, and their own individualized posts, specific roles engaging differently, etc.). I think sometimes we have a challenge of folks understanding their role in this part of the ministry and why it matters. I’m guessing others may have similar questions.

For sure. Practically, the best way to bridge that gap is to share the testimonies of life change and connection that are being spearheaded by digital. When you can tie it back to the mission of the church and demonstrate how it's making a difference - that's what people need to see. The specifics of liking and all that comes second to them grasping its importance and potential.

You're the man. Coming in hot at 4:50 lol. One question about the Friday post: As I understand it, you're selecting a longer clip of the sermon. That is then what you're transcribing and making a blog post? Or are you also putting the full sermon up somewhere as well? We do the clips, I also cut the sermon out and transcribe it through Rev and post it as a blog post, but it's the whole 30 minutes. I think you mean do the sermon clip itself and leave the other to the archive, but just wanted to double check.

That's totally up to you. Many churches have their full service in their 'Live' tab in KZbin. So leaving it there is fine. You could also break them up into playlists if you have them as main videos on the feed. Starting a second channel for the shorter videos is also a great option. And yes, I'm creating the blog post from a smaller segment in the sermon so it's more targeted at a specific problem/solution.

How many hours a week would be a reasonable estimate of labour in producing the suit of content you've laid out? Not a dig, trying to get my head around what is realistic in my current context. That really comes down to how familiar you are with the weekly process. It's an annoying answer I know. But we've seen our people basically 2X to 3X their speed going through their reviews of sermons over time as they become more familiar with what needs to be done each week. The other part is you can scale this down all the way to just 2X SocialSermons per week. Or scale it all the way up to the full calendar. So it's meant to be flexible for whatever time you can dedicate to it.

100%. We leave Sunday open for that. You're also welcome to supplement throughout the week. No platform in our social media calendar has daily content. For example, Instagram only has content four days a week in this calendar. So there's the still half the week to supplement with that kind of content if you choose.
