PROCOl HARUM IN CONCERT
With the Danish National Concert Orchestra and Choir
To go further and compare with the original song /clip : • [HD] Procol Harum - A ...
Lyrics:
We skipped the light fandango
turned cartwheels 'cross the floor
I was feeling kinda seasick
but the crowd called out for more
The room was humming harder
as the ceiling flew away
When we called out for another drink
the waiter brought a tray
And so it was that later
as the miller told his tale
that her face, at first just ghostly,
turned a whiter shade of pale
She said, 'There is no reason
and the truth is plain to see.'
But I wandered through my playing cards
and would not let her be
one of sixteen vestal virgins
who were leaving for the coast
and although my eyes were open
they might have just as well've been closed
She said, 'I'm home on shore leave,'
though in truth we were at sea
so I took her by the looking glass
and forced her to agree
saying, 'You must be the mermaid
who took Neptune for a ride.'
But she smiled at me so sadly
that my anger straightway died
If music be the food of love
then laughter is its queen
and likewise if behind is in front
then dirt in truth is clean
My mouth by then like cardboard
seemed to slip straight through my head
So we crash-dived straightway quickly
and attacked the ocean bed

Just how many new lives and loves came about as a result of this song, or Nights in White Satin? We will never know, but those of us lucky enough to live and breathe when these masterpieces burst into our worlds and hearts thank our lucky stars that we lived then. As long as this song plays somewhere, Gary still lives. A gentle thanks to a gentleman. . . .

This song was a mystery that formed most of my musical appreciation! I heard part of it the week it came out, then not again for 16 years! I drove me mad, trying to find "that song with an organ that sounds classical" Along the way I found Yes, King Crimson, ELP, Black Sabbath, Deep Purple, Iron Butterfly, Bo Hannson and Larry Fast. You know, all those 'progressive snobs'! Anyway, found these guys too!

This looks like the site of the Denmark concerts on a weekend in the summer of 2006. I was present at both sold out shows along with many PH fans from around the world. The local fans coordinated for post concert parties featuring musician fans who had rehearsed PH songs. A great time was had by all. The group was kind enough to show up both nights to sit in and play with the fans. I got the chance to meet Gary and thank him for all the great music he had written over the years. I wasn’t interested in an autograph or photo but just to tell him that his music had influenced my life in a positive way. He could not have been more polite and gracious.
