I think that the big elephant in the room is the actual durability of the nano texture screen. Have you tried for longer considering that you draw professionally? How has performed the nano texture glass? Do you see any visible scratches or anything to be worried about?
@artsideoflifeАй бұрын
That's a valid point, Vicente. I think it won't be an issue bcs this technology is different than the paper like screen protectors, but of course, only time will tell. And I haven't noticed any scratches but then I always check my Apple Pencil tips and change them when needed
@3dvortex001Ай бұрын
@ thank you for addressing this elephant, now he can go and run free. And , it’s actually amazing after some months and having now scratches, this is what I really wanted to know to make the purchase. Thanks !!

My paperlike screen protector gets chewed up and smoothed out over time which is what I would worry about with Nano Texture, so i think I’ll still go with Glossy + Paperlike so I can always change it for a fresh one.
@artsideoflife3 ай бұрын
I think you've got a great point there. Nano texture is still pretty new, so only time will tell. Paperlike is my go-to solution for now, too!

I picked up the 11 inch M4 nano screened iPad two days ago. I enjoy not having to worry about reflections with the screen. When I would speak at podiums, I was always trying to manipulate my standard screen iPad to avoid the stage light reflections on the screen. You do give up a little bit of sharpness, but it more than makes up for it when you can take your iPad anywhere, sit by a window, sit under lights coming in from any angle and generally go about business without having to worry about reflections which are unavoidable and will at times be totally distracting. Have you ever tried to show someone standing next to you a video or picture on your device and found it difficult to get them to see the screen because of not getting the screen angle just right for them to see because of reflections - no more. I’m writing comment this with a lamp above my right shoulder which would totally be reflected in my old iPad, but it doesn’t even show up on the nano screen. Not to mention the way my fingers glide on the screen surface without ever stopping or sticking at all. The surface is like Teflon to the touch. Wonderful. None of these things possible with standard screen. Food for thought. All the best.

Thank you, Joe, for such a thoughtful comment-exactly, that's a fantastic use case! The nano screen really "shines" in challenging lighting conditions, especially for public speaking or sharing content. You’ve highlighted practical, everyday benefits like reduced reflections and a smoother touch experience. It’s great your new iPad Pro is enhancing your workflow and interactions!

There’s a magnetic matte screen protector. It’s removable if you want the glossy screen to watch content or game and draw on the ipad

Are you team A: nano texture, B: standard glass or C: Matte screen protector?

I like all three. I’ve had all three but I returned the standard glass for nano. I prefer the nano. They are all good choices for different reasons.

Do you have any watercolor tutorial or class to learn how to use your brushes?

Hi, yes I have some tutorials where I used watercolor brushes, but in my classes and tutorials I focus on art skills rather than only on how to use the brushes. You can explore on my website club.artsideoflife.com/tutorials

I really love your art. But I have a question! I know this isn't a question directly related to this video, but when you go to the park etc, do you take the 13", or do you have a separate 11"? If it's the 13", is it comfortable to use on your lap etc? I've seen a few artists talk about preferring the 11" for comfort, I'm curious on your thoughts on this.
@artsideoflife3 ай бұрын
Hi Josh, supper happy you love my art 😊 The current iPad Pro 13" is surprisingly thin and light - even lighter than the previous 11" model. I used to have the 10.5" Pro and loved it because of the portability, but upgraded to the bigger one for more layers and a larger workspace for recording Procreate classes and tutorials. For outdoor sketching, I find it comfortable on my lap, but some artists prefer the 11" for portability. It really depends on your needs!

Hi Iva, your art work is amazing. Talking about nano texture, I just returned mine because I can see sandy textures when the screen is showing white or grey backgrounds. Did you notice that? Thanks.
@artsideoflife4 ай бұрын
Thank you so much, I really appreciate your kind words, Wolfgang! 😊 Yes, I did notice a slight texture, but it didn’t bother me personally. I think it’s probably from the nano-texture 'stitching', which is natural. The most important thing is that you get what feels best for you, especially if it’s something you'll be using a lot!

I just bought the nano texture screen on my iPad. I use it a lot for writing. I’m considering getting a matte screen just for screen protection. What do you think?
@artsideoflife3 ай бұрын
Hey Gail, I don't recommend it bcs it may distort your view. I'd rather invest into a good iPad case. Find inspiration for cases on my website artsideoflife.com/best-ipadpro-accessories-for-artists/

Is the nano texture less bright than standard glass ?
@artsideoflifeАй бұрын
No, the Nano texture screen isn’t less bright than standard glass. As I show in the video, in a dark room, there’s barely any difference in brightness, contrast, or saturation-they’re very similar. The difference really shows in bright environments, like near a window or under overhead lights. The Nano texture diffuses light, so you don’t get those sharp reflections you see on standard glass. It doesn’t actually reduce brightness-it just handles glare better, which makes it easier to use in those situations.
@MrJonndoeАй бұрын
@ thanks for the response. It makes it better in all ways then
@artsideoflifeАй бұрын
You're welcome! I always recommend that people always try before they buy - visit your nearest Apple store or borrow from friends/acquaintances bcs it very much depends on your personal preferences

But isn't the nanotexture more likely to get scratched ? :(
@artsideoflife2 ай бұрын
Nano texture is not like a screen protector. It’s a different type of screen tech, so it’s less likely to get scratched, but only time will tell!
@HereAndNowAndForever18 күн бұрын
Yes, the nano-texture is more likely to get scratched. It was tested to be 4 Mohs while the standard glass is 6-7 Mohs. Lots of people have experienced getting scratches even when they've been babying the iPad...😢

I remember taking the first gen iPad Pro and Apple Pencil into a workshop back in my undergrad days, and I still remember the confused and curious looks 😂 it’s been a privilege of mine to see how far the technology has advanced. Tech is best when it gets out the way and lets you create! Great breakdown!
@artsideoflife5 ай бұрын
Thanks, Cortez! I'm glad you enjoyed the video. It's awesome that you've hands on experience with how much the tech has evolved from the first generation until now. I completely agree with what you said: 'Tech is best when it gets out of the way and lets you create!' That's exactly why I love Procreate. It feels so simple to use as an artist, even though I know there's a lot happening behind the scenes to make it work seamlessly with iPads. This simplicity really allows us to focus on creating.
