For your master, put the glue compressor on, turn the compression level all the way down where the compressor is not working at all, then click the “Soft Clip” option at the top of the glue compressor. It’s like a soft clipper in FL Studio effect nothing will go over 0. You can then push your 808 a tiny bit past 0db for that feeling

ableton gets really interesting when you start to create your own instrument racks, audio effects racks, drum processing racks, parallel processing racks. and you can save all these racks and use them in other projects. i have my own dub techno effects racks, reverb, echo, delay, filter etc, its so much easy to drop an effects rack into a project than having to recreate a new rack every time. you can group tracks together, great for drums and for keeping the workspace tidy. and then when you think youve got ableton sussed, theres a whole world of max4live devices out there, a sound engineers wet dream. have fun man, and welcome to the ableton live rabbit hole :)

I remember buying a keyboard. And when it arrived I was super confused, cos it didnt have speakers or an audio output... Then I learned you need to have a DAW, and lo and behold, the keyboard came with a trial version of Ableton. How intuitive it was for me as someone that loves to fool around and discover... And it started me producing, making classical music out of 0 expectation. Love it.

Ocean, try warping and chopping up some breakbeats and add them to the track. Next learn about automation.You'll be able to twist the knobs on your midi keyboard and it'll change parameters of your effects. 0:39 Ableton does look basic but don't let that put you off, it has hidden depths which are *very* powerful. Once you get the hang of it Ableton is lots of fun. 😃

@HITMAN1er3 ай бұрын
@G-O-N-x not necessarily you can undo freeze and flatten. Also when you bounce in place in logic or commit in pro tools, you can choose multiple tracks and they become one audio file. It is also just a keyboard shortcut in logic as well. You can only freeze and flatten one a track at a time. Only thing comparable is resampling but it is a lot more extra steps which is strange since ableton is all about workflow

Hey Ocean, looks like the BPM is getting automated, possibly on the master track. If you Right Click the BPM at the top you get a "Show Automation" option. You can also see every track's Automation by going into Automation Mode. There's a keyboard icon that is selected on the top right of your menu (its currently orange to indicate that you've turned Computer MIDI Keyboard On). This icon means that you can use your laptop keyboard to play MIDI notes so that pressing "A" on the keyboard plays a C MIDI note. If you temporarily turn this icon off, you can press "A" to look at the automation lanes for each track instead of playing MIDI notes.

I switched to Ableton 8 years ago, welcome to the promise land. Now I'm learning FL Studio because all my clients use it. I am extremely well versed in Pro Tools, Ableton, and Logic, Ableton is the superior DAW for just capturing your ideas without thinking. FL Studio makes me think (it doesn't use the standard macOS shortcut scheme), but damn did I make a banger lol. Pro Tools obviously for recording and mixing. I tell MUSICIANS who want to produce to use Logic, plus it's a much fairer price and a 1-time purchase, and they like that since they aren't tech-savvy. Basically if you ask me, I'm gonna probe some questions and see how computer-literate you are, then I make the recommendation lol.
@kirtandreamrezzer3 ай бұрын
Once you get over the minimalistic design of the interface, and learn a few basics, the thing with Ableton is the immediacy & flexibility of capturing your ideas simply & quickly. I love REASON (graphics and it's old school studio vibe) & LOGIC, but I find myself gravitating to Ableton Live most of the time, especially when I just need to lay ideas down before I forget them. Yes, it takes some learning/adjusting to the unique interface but, Ableton is made to work quickly (or LIVE ) without getting in the way. The SESSION VIEW non-linear workflow is great for creating (loops) ideas and playing them back in whatever order you want, the interface is not as rigid or complicated as other DAWs. I find myself missing a lot of the PIANO ROLL keyboard shortcuts when using other DAWS. At least that's what I feel makes me use it the most.

Hi Ocean... glad to hear you're trying Ableton.. At the end of the day though it should always be about using the DAW that best serves your own way of working... BUT... I hope you give it a good go before deciding. Something very important that I picked up on your last Ableton vid and this one was your mention of the DAW's appearance. Ableton doesn't look flash, but music production is about functionality, intuition and familiarity.. As such the stock devices all have a nice 'familiar' look within the DAW, this leads to a nice 'intuitive' work flow. Once you've used one, the other make sense as the interface and controls have a 'generic' Ableton feel. I'd much rather that processing power is focused on audio, rather than 'swish' looking devices with hi-res, animated interfaces.. And, let's not forget 'Session' view as well.. Ableton's secret weapon.. Not only can this be a great way to sketch out and try ideas before committing them, but the the live applications are very powerful indeed. There's a reason why it's called 'Ableton Live'

I am pretty inexperienced, but after using FL Studio for a while and then trying out Logic Pro and Abelton, I absolutely would pick Abelton over Logic Pro X. As per most apple applications, almost everything felt like it was annoyingly in a dang menu or shortcut, so that was a no-go. I still prefer Fruit Loops though because of it’s use of in-app windows and the *keyboard* mmm I love the keyboard in FL. Really dig the UI of Abelton though, it was pretty easy to figure everything out, and how everything was just up in front of you made it look really nice

Ableton is a good DAW and many are leaving Logic because every new update means that in a short period of time you have to change from Mac. Ableton live is for Windows and Mac OS and many stop using Mac to continue with Windows and Ableton live. Mac users prefer to have an old version of Logic Pro along with Ableton live 12 that works since Mac OS 10.13. And that causes people to stop using Logic. For me personally, Logic Pro since version 10.5 is a brutal tool. Ableton has improved a bit in its version 12, but it does not have the same advantages. 🤔
