PRODIGY BOWLERS TOUR
Episode 117
"2020 George Washington Open"
Recorded February 22, 2020
For release February 28, 2020

If you'd like to support the creative work that goes into the production and post-production of PRODIGY BOWLERS TOUR, we invite you to become a PRODIGY Patron. For as little as $5 a month, you'll gain early access to all our full-length episodes. And for just $10 a month, you'll not only get early access to all our full-length episodes, but you'll also have your name listed in the end credits of those shows and you'll be listed as an Executive Producer. Upwards of 35 to 40 hours go into the production and post-production of each episode of PRODIGY BOWLERS TOUR, and the producer could be spending that time working to build his business (the one that keeps the lights on). But instead, he prefers to spend his time producing this show. Please consider becoming a PRODIGY Patron. Go to: / prodigybowlerstour and sign up right now. And thanks for supporting the show!
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
On this edition of PRODIGY BOWLERS TOUR, six kids went to the starting gate, and all six were given the opportunity to compete in a special extended stepladder format of five matches to decide the winner. This episode of PRODIGY is chocked full of strikes, so strap in and enjoy the action!
As always, your comments are not only welcome but encourages. But we do insist that if you have critiques that you keep them positive. Remember, the mission of PRODIGY BOWLERS TOUR is to "Celebrate Junior Bowling and Elevate Junior Bowlers." So if all you have to offer is to insult or demean the kids, such comments will only be deleted by the moderator. Just remember to be helpful, not hurtful, and your comments will be just fine.
PRODIGY BOWLERS TOUR is "Unofficial, Informal and Impromptu" After League competition designed to simulate the pressure of big-time tournament competition. And while the ultimate prize is little more than symbolic in nature, the pressure is very real. These kids are very aware that every shot they throw will be seen by an audience of tens of thousands of bowling enthusiasts. So they will bowl their hearts out, win or lose.
As the Volunteer Youth Director at Bowlero Roswell, it's my desire for PRODIGY to inspire bowlers, young and old alike, to pursue their passion for this amazing sport. In the process, if we're able to convey how committed we are to providing kids a great experience with bowling in our youth program at Bowlero Roswell, so much the better. But the main thing I want to instill in these kids is a love for the game and adherence to the principles of good sportsmanship.

*** PLEASE DO *NOT* POST SPOILERS!!! *** PLEASE DO *NOT* POST SPOILERS !!! *** PLEASE DO *NOT* POST SPOILERS!!! *** *** Guys, I spent about 35-40 hours to produce each episode of PRODIGY. When you post a comment that gives away the ending on a match or the overall event, it gives people less reason to watch, and renders all the time and effort I put into producing the show pretty much pointless. Please show some courtesy -- and a little creativity -- by carefully crafting your remarks below in such a way so as to avoid giving away the match endings. PLEASE! ***

Jesse here: I set both extremes, most gutters in a row and most over all strikes lol. I had a ton of fun (and yes I bowled slow, I wanted to win). I loved all the little comments, “Going into his squat!” “All similar shots, differently walks back.” “It’s a black hammer urethane.” I laughed so much thank you.

You're very kind. Here's a video documenting my career in radio. kzbin.info/www/bejne/qpjCcqCQj7KAqcU And yes, what pays the bills is my work as a VoiceOver talent. www.RandyBrownVO.com. I'm on a number of radio stations around the country as the station "imaging voice." Fortunately, the pandemic hasn't really forced me to change much in the way of my lifestyle; I've been working from home (home studio) since 2001. Only difference is I've been getting to sleep in on Saturday mornings rather than going into the bowling alley.

I WAS LITERALLY CURSED IN MY 3RD GAME TODAY. the first game was a 103. AWFUL. 2ND GAME WAS A 158. Not bad. My highest score ever is a 180. Well, in the third game in the 8th frame I had 153. Then I leave the 6-10. piece of cake. I throw the ball but I put the ball out to the gutter and it BARELY hooks back and only hits the 10. Before that I was pretty confident to break 180 then I open. Ok so I had 162 in the 9th and in the 10th I was praying to not open. I directly hit the pocket and leave a stupid ringing 10. I'd say when the ball was one foot away from the pin half of the ball was in the gutter and the other half was on the lane. But, it went in the gutter. Just my luck. The last game was a 171

Gosh, talk about a question with about a thousand possible answers. I wouldn't know where to begin to answer your question. Much depends on where you live. Actually, it *ALL* depends on where you live. Here in the Atlanta area, we have the Georgia Youth Bowlers Tour (GYBT), which has a Facebook group (Georgia YBT) that provides the schedule and such. (They hold Junior Gold qualifiers on the first Sunday of every month. Except June, when they hold their TOC over that first weekend of the month, and July, when they're off.) There's a Pepsi Tournament in all 50 states, and you can learn more about it through Bowl.com (look for "Tournaments" under the "Youth" section.) And most urban areas have a city tournament (check with your local USBC association) and there are state tournaments in pretty much every state, as well. Other youth tournaments may be available, but you'll need to plug in to the local youth bowling scene to find out about them. SInce I have no idea where you live, I would tell you your best bet is to check with the Youth Director at your bowling center, or at a local bowling center with a large, active youth program. Good luck!

Regarding deep cleaning, I've found that cutting a hole in a cardboard box and using a hair dryer to heat the inside of the box gets tons of oil to sweat out of an older ball. I'm still able to keep some of my balls that are years old hooking by sticking them in the box every couple months or so. What's your take on that? I know there's many things that could go wrong, but I have yet to have an issue, not to mention it's free and in my opinion gets out even more oil than a deep clean.

When you posted this question, I had no idea what the answer was. So I had to go back and check, which took a little while. But here are the current standings in the Race for the Top Seedings at the PRODIGY TOC where we will award The Coveted Trophy Pin. These standings are current thru Episode 117 (George Washington Open) and include the results from "The Lost Episode" that was never released. 2 wins: - Nolan Kemp - Anthony Smiga - Josh Greenberg - Christian Mennell 1 win: - Annalise O'Bryant - Tristin Davis - Gilbert Kang - Brandon Karavite - Faith Roper - Nick Dischinger - Logan Mathis - Will Young - Drake Meenach - John Woolfolk - Jesse Hamadi Never before has the Race for the Pin been so wide open this late in the season. Will anyone make a push and move out to a big lead in the final months of the season? We'll have to wait and see. There are still some players you might have thought would have won by now, but haven't (Hunter, are you reading this?), and still others who have recently started bowling PRODIGY who you might think will get their name on the pin before the season is over (such as Aiden Bailey, Andrew Halverson and Cameron Emerson -- all strong players).

I don't necessarily think it makes a ton of sense to throw a back up at the 10 pin but having a back up ball is definitely a good thing to have. Just ask Anthony Simonsen.
@ProdigyBowlersTour
@ProdigyBowlersTour 4 жыл бұрын
If a right-hander throwing it straight at the 10 pin makes more sense than throwing a hook at it, then it makes sense that a backup might be even easier. That is, *IF* you have control of it. Which Aiden clearly does. (He made three washouts with it last week.)
@bfielder9097
@bfielder9097 4 жыл бұрын
@@ProdigyBowlersTour Oh I definitely see your point and no doubt Aiden appears to throw a very good back up. I saw the show last week as well. My point though is there's nothing easier in the game of bowling than shooting at a single pin so why complicate it.
@ProdigyBowlersTour
@ProdigyBowlersTour 4 жыл бұрын
B Fielder - Generally I agree that single pins are simple, but a lot of right handers struggle with the 10 pin. You surely know that.
@bfielder9097
@bfielder9097 4 жыл бұрын
@@ProdigyBowlersTour They certainly do, but that's mainly just lack of general knowledge of how to go about taking out the 10 pin. You know as much as I do that a lot of people, even people who have bowled for a long time shoot the 10 with their reactive ball with their normal release and they watch and think "ohh oh I got it." and then it hooks by at the end. They then put their hands up and wonder "what the heck how did I miss that?" Throw plastic, urethane or if you have the ability to flatten your hand throw reactive. Angle your shoulders at your target, throw the ball over the center arrow and as long as you do those things you're going to knock the 10 down pretty much every single time. If it works it works and if you knock it down that's all that matters, doesn't matter what technique was used to do it, I just still don't find any real reason to throw a back up ball at it. Now if you're a righty and you leave a 2 8 10...by all means absolutely throw a back up, or even a much simpler split like the 3 10. And also I'm not really arguing with your or trying to discredit what you said so please don't think that.
@ProdigyBowlersTour
@ProdigyBowlersTour 4 жыл бұрын
B Fielder - No, I didn’t think you were arguing. We actually agree for the most part. I just look at it this way: It was always considered an essential skillset to know how to adjust your wrist and hand position to take something off the ball, or even get a little extra out of it in some cases. So if that’s a good idea (and I think you’d agree that it still is), then I see developing the ability to throw a slight backup ball as just an extension of that same principle. The more versatile a player is, the more tricks he has in his bag of tricks, the more likely it is that he’ll have the right weapon to call on when he needs it.

Maybe you could mention that ball cleaning to Nolan or at least get him to buy some nice cleaning pads with the cleaner in them. I use those every week and my bowling balls are squeeky clean every week. Mine tend to over hook until some oil gets back on the ball during practice time. I would love to see Nolan get a good win once in awhile.Those new Youth League rules should've been in the book over 10 years ago. Make it fair for the younger junior bowlers. At the beginning of every single episode of PRODIGY, we tell you the name of the bowling center and where it is located. And throughout the entire match (every match), you see the scoreboard across the lower third of the screen. Look just below the scoresheet and you'll see the name of the bowling center and where it is. It stays up on screen throughout the entire show. If it was a snake, it would have bit you.

What happened to Brandon Racioppi and Logan Fossum?
@ProdigyBowlersTour

Brandon quit league early last season and from what I hear no longer bowls. Logan did not return to our league this year, opting instead to bowl elsewhere. However, my spies tell me he hasn't come to bowl in months, so I'm not entirely sure, but it seems like he may not be bowling anymore. In both cases, it's a shame. They're both talented. Brandon was GYBT Bowler of the Year a couple of years ago, and LOFO has incredible upside potential.

Didn't Jesse bowl 213 before his 2 big games. For 3 games he shot 740

If we were submitting his scores to USBC for official recognition, you would be correct. Series (3-game) totals can only come from "first three," "second three," etc. But PRODIGY is non-sanctioned. I used to say at the beginning of every show that PRODIGY is "Unofficial, "Informal and Impromptu" competition. So for our purposes, the three-game record is any three consecutive games bowled on the show.

I have nothing against these kids but I hate when they are mad or frustrated they start walking when the pin setter is still touching the pins and the gate is still down I was always taught to get ny ball when the pin setter is setting them down that way if something is wrong and the gate comes back down I don't have a ball going 15mph at it

I don’t care one bit if these kids get mad. That only indicates to me that they care. I want them to care, and a little fire in their belly is a good thing, it seems to me. Now if they kick out a foul light or kick the ball return or break something, that’s a whole ‘nother kettle of fish.. And they know that.
