Hello Ken, thank you for sharing your experience. After 6 years, how is your range of motion? Do you know if you had any bone growth (almost becoming like a fusion)?

Range of motion is fine. Haven't noticed any issues. No idea about bone growth but it's probably a good bet that the device does allow bone growth on the vertebral surfaces where the device makes contact.

Thanks for posting these, watching all of them while I contemplate surgery. Currently investigating post op healing time

Ken I also have C6/C7 herniated and pinch nerve. My Neurosurgeon gave me 2 choices Fusion or ADR. I am looking into the ADR. I am 49.5 Pipefiier and have exhausted all other treatments. My Dr. says he can do the Prodisc C but I see a lot of these Mobi C around and they say that post surgery the Prodisc doesn't show up well on follow-up MRI. Not sure what to do at this point. Thanks

+smaerd58 I also went in with the Mobi-C in mind. My surgeon said he would do whichever I preferred as he was experienced with both. He had done more of the Prodisc-C so I thought it wise to go that route. As for post-op MRI, he mentioned that too, but my follow-up only required x-ray. I have not had or needed an MRI and I doubt I will. I am now 6 months post-op and am 100%. It's like the injury never happened. I am thoroughly happy with my decision to have the ADR and the Prodisc. I wouldn't worry too much about the MRI thing, but you have to do what makes you comfortable. Good luck! (BTW, 45 y/o firefighter)

Helllo smaerd58, did you ever get the surgery done? I have same issue from c-6/c-7. I went to two diffident orthopedic surgeons, one recommended me mobi-c and other recommended me prodisc c. I am debating which is better.

Helllo Ken, I have same issue from c-6/c-7. I went to two diffident orthopedic surgeons, one recommended me mobi-c and other recommended me prodisc c. I am debating which is better. How are you doing now? I am doing fine functionally and I have stiffness and pain around my neck on back right side. How long was your procedure?

My advice would be to make your decision based on your comfort with and the experience of your surgeon. Don't decide based on the device. Either device will suit you just fine. I went in wanting Mobi-C and my surgeon said he could do it, but had more experience with Prodisc. I chose not to substitute my knowledge for that of a highly trained neurosurgeon. I liked my doctor and I said to use whichever one he was more comfortable installing which turned out to be the Prodisc-c. It's been almost 5 years and Im so glad I decided to hav it done. If you are in pain like I was, you certainly won't regret having it done. Good luck!

Well I have been in contact with my neurosurgeon and asked about various implants that are available. But apparently he only does either the standard fusion or he is certified for only the Prodisc C. So either I go with the Prodisc C or try to find another highly trained and skilled neurosurgeon like I have now to do the other implants.

+smaerd58 Well, like I said, I couldn't be happier with my Prodisc-C. It's a very popular device and is used by many surgeons. I tried not to substitute what I thought was best vs. the opinion of my neurosurgeon. To me, the MRI visibility issue was a small one and turned out to be a complete non-issue. Get a couple of opinions and make the best informed decision you can. Good luck.
