Wonderful interview BRUCE ( oh ... um ... BUT ... that's the sound of my ( 300 dollar 1984 ) SG on the whole album . the pleasant , mild whammy sound on bit part is me manually bending the neck ... I did a lot of that then .... oh and JESSE PERETZ was the bass player ( and whole reason we ever got anywhere with this shit ) before JULES . love you BRUCE EGD

Thanks Warren! Happy to see some Lemonheads coverage not totally focused on the drama around the band and Evan's personal life. These albums captivated me at a very young age and inspired me to start playing in my youth. I find Evan's talents to be very underrated. As with bands like Nirvana and Weezer the melodies and chord changes seem simple but when you dig deeper there are subtleties that are hard to replicate. Always curious as to how these sessions went, and this was a great little peak inside. Thanks for continuing to inspire future generations of musicians, producers and engineers. All the best! 🤘 -Ian

Thanks so very much for covering the recording of this album! One of my all time favorites. Rick James was on the "Come on feel the Lemonheads" album on two tracks (that I'm aware of) "Style", and "Rick James Style". "Come on" is another masterpiece (compliments of the Robb brothers) that I'd love to get the breakdown of. Please, and thank you Warren & Bruce 👍💯🔥❤️🎶

Come on!!! You're capping off an amazing week with Bruce Robb and It's a Shame About Ray!!! That album is criminally underrated. I would put that one in my top 20 all time favourites - right there with the musical Giants. It's nothing earth shattering - it's just a bunchof perfect pop songs played with the right attitude with a great production. My copy doesn't have the Simon and Garfunkel cover (which would've been nice). I still listen to it fairly regularly all these years later

I would love to see an interview with John Agnello- Where you been by Dinosaur Jr is one of my favourite albums from this era. This is one of those albums that I know and love every second of and is engrained in me. It was ever present in my early life and totally formative. I still break it out every now and again for people who don't know it and it never fails to gain a new fan. Great video. This and the Graham Coxon 'Modern Life...' listen along are some of my fav things on YT.

There are a select few records that I loved in the early 90s that I've consistently loved ever since. This is definitely one. It always comes out once or twice a year and I still marvel at the level of simple pop perfection throughout the entire thing. And truly timeless, and the Robb brothers did a perfect job with the production, particularly in an era where many other records sound extremely dated now. I have tickets to see the Lemonheads next month, with their set focused on Ray and C'mon Feel. Cannot wait.

Funny they mention the lack of guitar solos while Confetti is playing - which is the song with a long well crafted gtr solo on the album. I wish they had talked more about the elec/acoustic guitars blend. IASAR always fascinated me since 1992 for its perfect blend of elec./acoustic guitars. Wish they had talked more about the drums: powerfull, strong, yet it blends perfectly with the smooth vibe of the album. IASAR sounds way better than the next one, Come on Feel the Lemonheads. Cheers

Among my favorite albums. I literally learned to play guitar alongside these songs. The part where they slag off guitar solos right before the awesome solo in ‘Confetti’ is pretty funny. That said, I’ve learned so much from this conversation about recording and mixing and I’m only through ‘Rudderless’! Bravo
@Producelikeapro

Don’t remember ‘slagging off’ guitar solos! Quite like them! Haha it was just a different time when guitar solos were rare, not like the ‘70s when they were obligatory or the ‘80s when they were sometimes there for dramatic effect only. The ‘90s were guitar solo restraint, as the producer says one solo on an album is certainly not what came before in the ‘70s and ‘80s

This song is one of the most emotionally-moving songs of the 90s. I remember doing a crude cassette cover of it on a Fostex 4-track. My other faves of the 90s were Live's "Lightening Crashes." I also dug the Gin Blossoms and everything by the Meat Puppets :)

It's funny, Warren turns off "Confetti" halfway through and notes how there are no real guitar solos on the album -- but there's a real guitar solo (and a real good one) at the end of "Confetti"!

Probably not gonna be loved by this comment, but I've heard quite some demo and FF original songs that are just as good as any single Lemonheads song. I think this just really shows it's a matter of getting picked up by the right person at the right time. So this shows to keep faith in your own music and carry on, even if it seems like no-one cares about your music at all.
