Warren, great job as always! I have known you from the great WIR2 album with MF. My divorce killed my studio. I should get it going again. Little bits are in storage. Maybe my studio will be back in '25!

I use the UAD 2254 E on all my instr tracks, and UAD 33609 on the mixbus. For me its a staple. I believe when I'm learning something for the first time and that one thing does it then it grows as a favorite great work! MerryXmas🎄

On Gearsapce, I did a shootout between this and a vintage 2254, as well as the fabulous AML modern hardware clone, and found this held up nicely.
@ProducelikeaproКүн бұрын
Wow! That's great to hear!
@andrewwhitehouse1878Күн бұрын
Hi mate, do your AMLs have a bit of a noise floor on them? Mine are a bit limited in headroom before getting hiss. Super cool that you did this shootout
@Rhuggins23 сағат бұрын
@@andrewwhitehouse1878 No not really - while it is the case that diode bridge compressors naturally have a higher level of noise than other topologies, colins design is incredible. My 33609s both have more noise than the AML, specifically the more "vintage" one. I would definitely get them checked out because they are stunning units and headroom should not be a problem, nor hiss in my experience

Sounds lovely and VERY authentic! (Just like the Lindell does, perhaps even better because the Kit has the mix and output knobs order wrong... and a higher price!) BTW Joe, "cycles"?? It's officially been hertz, worldwide, since 1960, look it up! 🤷🏼♂️😉🤣

Is there any difference with this version of plugin to the one Plugin Alliance has
@Producelikeapro12 сағат бұрын
Thanks for your comment! I've never used the Plugin Alliance version, so I can't comment! As I said in the video, I rarely used the hardware except for doing insane compression tricks and to the best of my memory the plug in did that very well!

I may have overlooked something (after midnight here) but the blog from the link mentions/shows an introduction price that's half the price on the Sweetwater page the description links to.

Just learn to use your stock plugins guys, its 2024 wake up, this doesnt matter.
@InTheMixJoeCarrell7 сағат бұрын
@@GingerDrums with complete respect many of us would highly disagree with that. Stock plug-ins are great. That’s not the point. The point you may be overlooking is that many of us have had the opportunity to use incredible outboard gear and still very much prefer and wish for SSL eqs, neve 1073 eqs, various tube or VCA compressors etc. They are part of recorded music history and to know them is to love them. So we very much want those in our toolbox while mixing in the box. Different strokes for different folks. If you get everything you need from stock plug-ins then that’s absolutely wonderful and these videos may not be for you. But I assure you, there are many of us that they are very very relevant to. Merry Christmas! 🎄 🎁
@GingerDrums6 сағат бұрын
@InTheMixJoeCarrell hey, 👋 I really gotcha. I just got done selling most of my outboard gear. My GML EQ, Shelford channel and shadow hills compressors are sentimental and get used for tracking vocals (overkill much lol) but don't get used anymore. Some people enjoy sitting on frozen pineaplles, but if somebody were to say that it makes your mixes sound better, I'm gonna be here telling you it just ain't.
