Hi dears.68 yo Army here. In S. Korea kids go to school up to 15 hours a day and are under tremendous pressure to suceed and S. Korea has the highest suicide rate among young people in the world so BTS is telling kids to follow their own dreams

BTS took a chance criticising Korean society but it paid off. They stood out as a group which really spoke to the young people who were having a hard time. I always have to chuckle at SUGA singing that he wanted big rings because he got them. He had four big rings with the letters of his name but unfortunately he lost one at a concert in Germany.

Total kudos on your choosing the mv with English subtitles. Most reactors fail to search out the videos with English lyrics then act stupid when the closed captions don't exist. No More Dream definitely is one many channels failed to do so. They never get the opportunity to figure out that BTS is directly addressing young people on how they are abdicating their dreams to parental and social pressure or that BTS is simultaneously criticizing a society which puts young people in this position in their very first official song. I hope you will always search out the English during your reactions because that little bit of extra leg work will distinguish your channel as genuinely curious.

Three of them were in school at the time. School is something they talk about in their first 3 EPs call the School Trilogy. Education standards are super high in SK and parents push kids to school. They are telling youth you need to have a dream of your own.

Even in America here there are expectations also with people not being able to follow their own dreams thats what happened to me these guys helped me to follow my own dream and make it how i want it.

BTS can't be confined to one genre even within an album. That's because although they are based in Hip Hop and R & B RM made them all listen to different types of music to learnt to understand different music. Also they had V who was lover of Jazz and still is and Jimin who clearly must have listened to different music before he joined BTS as he was a contemporary and Hip Hop dancer and did other styles of dance also so was already exposed to different music styles. Bang PD wanted them to write/sing/rapp about what was important to them, where they were in their life journey, using whatever genre or mix of genre they wanted that's why their music is so so different and very often goes against the norm, and about subjects that at the time Kpop wouldn't even consider touching and even now in general they won't touch. BTS really were a wake up call and will never shy away from the difficult issues.

RM said recently that he and SUGA (and maybe J-Hope too) had to educate the younger ones and encourage them to listen to a wide range of music. They made tapes for them to listen to so that they could immerse themselves in music of all types.. This is now a system used by Hybe with all trainees.

I just binged all your BTS reactions form my tv account 🤣you prob saw a “Katherine” liking all the BTS videos 😭 Anyways I am absolutely loving your reactions to BTS and will continue to keep an eye out for more :)) I’m hoping you see this because I wanted to recommend their show Run BTS as it’s just so funny and you can really get to know all their personalities while having a good time! Please do post those reactions here in KZbin as not everyone can afford patreon and Run BTS is free content. I don’t think people who have reacted to Run BTS in KZbin have had any issues. The songs about Kids not having their own dreams but being forced to fullfill the dreams of their parents because the education system is crushing the kids. South Korea has the biggest youth suidence rate it over took Japan. It's work work work after school it's cram schools get the best grades so you can go to the one of the top 3 universities in South Korea so you can get either a government job or get into one of the top companies. Kids don't have any real dreams of their own it's what society and parents put on them. It's a very anti social/political song about the state of young people and what they are going through. It's saying don't listen go for what you want to do have your own dreams and aim for them you don't have to conform. So right from the start they were not like what was coming out of the Kpop industry at that time and in the main is still not coming out of the Kpop Industry. Because of this song many people adults were not happy with them and saw they as a bad influence and far too political.

Hi guys....thanks for the reactions. I know you've already reacted to Taylor's Guide, but currently, Disney+, in collaboration with HYBE/BIG HIT, just released an 8 episode documentary that began last week titled "BTS Monuments: Beyond the Star". It came out after the last 4 members enlisted in the military 2 weeks ago. So far there are 4 episodes out, then 2 more next Wednesday, and ending with episodes 7 & 8 on 1/10. This is fresh and absolutely EXCELLENT! The guys talk honestly about their rise to fame, and how their experience impacted them emotionally, physically, and psychologically. I really, really, really think you should watch it. I think for a newbie to BTS, it will definitely give you the feeling of " Wow, I really need to check these guys out more." It is very eye-opening. To most ARMY, they know the history, hardships, and challenges BTS went through. But hearing it directly from the members is something else.💜
