There is a special rare genius to Ren's pieces and a depth of experiences he shares openly. His trilogy of Jenny and Screech is probably the most powerful composition I have ever heard or seen in my life. He is a musical swiss army knife and pushes all the right buttons in my mind. This was a fantastic reaction!! Looking forward to more!!

I've been a Ren fan for a few years now... I think everything he does is calculated. I think he probably is a genius. Everything he does is better than what most other people are doing. And he's not just good at ALL of it - He's GREAT! - at rapping, singing, playing instruments, acting, production, etc. The more Ren you see, the more impressed you will be. Trust me.

@@NightFogFilms nice try to fact check, but you are wrong. Per Ren himself he did multiple takes and picked his favorite and went with that. It was all one singular take in the video. And if you disagree, im going to need a timestamp of where you think this cut is. And then i want to see you try and tell Ren that as well.

@@Haterage Compliments of SamuelPerryFalvey on Jonathan Hiller's reaction to Hi Ren in the comment section: it's done as a live session so sound recorded live and from three cameras but look at the close up for the end as would of been in the wide shot otherwise that we cut to. it's a separate take all still live but so it's from two takes. 2nd comment and within the 125 relies about 10 down you can find this comment. Also, Ren said in an interview (I don't remember which one) that Hi Ren was filmed in a basement they didn't have permission to be in so the landlord came down after the first one take and ordered them out but Ren begged for 30 more minutes and the landlord agreed so they managed to get 3 more one takes and used bits of what they had in editing. So it's a one take using 3 cameras but edited using all 4 of the takes. The audio AND all of the static camera footage is from the same take, while some of the hand-held footage comes from other takes, but the audio is from a single shot; so there are some of the hand-held shots where the visuals are from a different take than audio. It's an audio one-take, and about a 90% visual one-take as well.

Hi Petra, congrats for your analysis from a fellow producer/musician. You have a very good ear and understanding of the matter, indeed , you are just the second reactor that detected this little detail in the opening “operatic” falsetto opening, namely the (quite) half step shift in the melody. I was a REN’s fan since the big push and I remember when hi Ren got published.. I found myself tearing up every time I was listening this masterpiece and I got mad when every freaking reactor (the fairy voice mother apart) thought this detail was just a “mistake” or some kind of subconscious slip of the tongue. Then tell me how comes he repeat it exactly to the end?! I guess you started to know REN’s maniacal attention to details. Kudos to you from Italy 👏

Wow how’s that possible? He sings it so clean, and has a beautiful purpose 😮 Plus if you perform this whole thing live you gotta practice it a million times and I know he tends to hyperfocus on details like just you said. In any ways thank you so much I’m happy you enjoyed it 🩷

I just saw your Hi Ren reaction, and put this journal entry of Ren's as my comment to that reaction.~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ jAN 01, 2023~~~rEN~ Up until I was 9 years old, I would intermittently hear a voice in my head that was not my own. The voice was distinctly different to mine, and always negative. It would self criticize or urge me to do things I knew to be morally wrong. The most peculiar thing about the voice was that it took no effort on my behalf to produce. My own thoughts always felt like there was a process that required effort to bring them to the forefront of my mind, this voice appeared as though it was spoken by another. The sentences felt predetermined like they had already been constructed. I remember very vividly at 9 years old, becoming very frustrated with the voice. I stood in my back yard, internally screaming at the voice to be silent again and again, and it did. In a flash there was silence, to the point where my head felt like an empty room. I wasn't used to the quiet and that voice never returned. It almost felt lonely in my head. When I got older I had intermittent bouts with auditory hallucinations where I would hear perfect symphonies, usually at night when drifting off to sleep. They were so clear that they sounded like they were emanating from a radio in the corner of my room. I knew they weren't there, but for some reason they never came with the feeling of fear. I also recall sitting on a bus at the age of 15, and hearing the sound of a crowded room, with about 100 voices chattering away, I was the only person apart from the driver on the bus. These experiences were always very brief, and few and far between. My last hallucination was during an intense bout of psychosis in 2015, and was my first visual hallucination. I was walking down a pavement after jumping out my mums car in a crossroads in a moment of frustration and distress with my condition. I was trying to run from myself. What appeared to be a homeless man with a dark complexion approached me, and asked me what was wrong. I explained that I had been sick most my life, and I wasn't sure I had the strength to continue. He looked at me, and smiled and told me 'everything is going to be okay in the end Ren.' I had not told him my name. There was something so overpoweringly sincere about this very simple message, which brought with it an overwhelming feeling of inner peace, and in a flash, he vanished. My rational brain always linked these experiences to what the doctors have told me, that there are parts of my brain compromised by the autoimmunity in my body. That the myelin sheaths surrounding the complex electrical system that conduct my thoughts were damaged and compromised, causing these lucid experiences that I knew did not exist inside the physical world. The part of me that edges away from logical and rational thought always attributed these thoughts to some kind of otherworldly intervention, that made my thoughts the battleground of some spiritual tug of war. For a long time I never really acknowledged this part of myself, for with it brought the danger and stigma of sounding like a crazy person. I decided with my latest release, to the best of my ability, to capture and express this chess match of thought. Hi Ren comes out in just over 24 hours. I can't wait for you all to hear it.

sorry about that… it is the voice enhancing feature of premiere pro - the way it works is that it creates an ai clone of my voice and i can mix it with the original. Sometimes it makes weird sounds of the little noises. Usually I check the audio for these but this time I had a super tight deadline to finish the editing as I was about to travel the next day and I had another video to edit for the time that I’m on the road.
