Really enjoyed your perspective! This was in fact recorded live to tape (the whole album was), which is a pretty interesting change for Brendon. The structure of this song is crazy! It's always a bold move to pull back on the bridge, but I think it works here. I'm curious to see how this does with radio with it being so catchy yet strange in form.

I hope it goes, but it is a little outside of the current pop sound. Excited to see its future.

This "behind the scenes" view of how a song is put together was fantastic!

I loved this reaction - the perspective is great and noticing super cool details. I love the harmonies in this song, and it was cool to be able to have the variations brought to my attention by you. The doubling with the guitar and piano, love, and I love the bridge and you predicted the quiet moment! haha :D But it's super gorgeous and it gives us a breath to process. HORNS. YES.

Wow I honestly would not have even heard the horns. Thanks for pointing them out! I really appreciate how much you pointed out little musical details throughout that I wouldn't have noticed. It's why I really like listening to "expert breakdowns" of stuff.

I’m overjoyed that you enjoyed the breakdown!

Jake also produced death of a bachelor and pray for the wicked, and the entire album was recorded entirely to tape!

Nice add, they killed it on death of a bachelor.

was wondering about when he goes really high at the end. i found it a bit interesting that the rest of the instruments didnt carry the same energy and went straight for that hook again, while he kept going high. for the songs i listen to and panic's older songs, he usually goes high at the climax of the song when the whole song is carrying the hard energy.
@KevinBessey2 жыл бұрын
I think that's due to the pop energy he's been getting into a lot recently. You'll hear that same type of technique used in this song on a lot of Max Martin produced songs (Taylor Swift, Katey Perry, Britney Spears, etc.)

ngl in the thumbnail I thought you were Bo Burnham (his more disheveled look from the Inside film)

The secret is: I am Bo Burnham just in disguise.

when i first listened to this song (and every time i listen to it) i just cant stop thinking of how you barely hear the drums, no hi-hat or cymbals on the chorus, i didnt like that and i was kind of expecting someone to point this out. also the extra loud hi hat four on the floor at the ending of the bridge, sounds really bad to me. either way nice reaction.
@KevinBessey2 жыл бұрын
I legitimately didn't even notice how weird that hi hat sounds until you pointed it out. With the general lack of cymbal work, I just thought that's the whole vibe they were going with that fifties/sixties sound. But, on second thought the lack of hi hats and cymbals is Pretty Odd (Pun intended)

@@santiterlinsounds8060 that’s a fair take. It’s kind of a weird mix.
