"Girl crush" doesn't mean visuals, it means the dark, hip hop and swag concept of music. It is named as "girl crush" as most girl groups in Korea have the cute and bubbly kind of music. The amount of years Blackpink trained: Jennie (6 years) Lisa & Jisoo (5 years) Rosé (4 years)

Just to add, all the members of Blackpink were from wealthy family. Jennie's mother is a major shareholder of a huge company, Jisoo's father is said to be a CEO of a certain huge broadcasting company, Rosé dad is an international lawyer, Lisa's dad is a worldwide known Swiss Master chef and her parents also owns a hospital in Thailand. The girls although growing up from wealthy family, instead of having fun and living off parent's money, they fought and struggled for their dreams which is what fans love about them. You should watch Blackpink's Netflix documentary "Light up the sky" and the video "Blackpink's Journey and Friendship", You'll learn alot more about them and the challenges they faced

47:51 they’re well known among us fans for being humble and kind. Idk if there’s any group in kpop that doesn’t have a leader because they don’t have a leader since they think of each other as friends and family, also, Jennie once said in their documentary that they know what they’re doing in the group and everyone just doing their work without fighting with each other to become center of the group and they all want what’s best for the group. They also love animals. Recently they just said that they have their own zoo lol since each of them has at least a dog. Lisa alone has 5 cats and a dog. During their world tour, they would go to the aquarium like in blackpink diaries it’s whether about their concert or them going to aquarium. They never ask the fans to stream the mv or voted for them personally. They always said they want us to enjoy the music. There’re lots of things that shows how kind and humble they actually are

Yeah totally get your confusion with the term girl crush from a male perspective...but from a female perspective it makes sense - basically a girl group that females will crush on. Tough, swaggy, tomboy, but also sexy, elegant and beautiful. I came to this realization as well having been new to Kpop until I was sucked into the rabbit hole by Blackpink back in 2016.

People keep saying BLACKPINK is just a group of pretty girls, and they have no talent. Trust me, these girls doesnt have talent? They would never ever been debuted under YG. YG has been known for years, all they care is talent. The appearance is not their top standard, if you dont trust me, you can look up AKMU, BIGBANG, and of course 2NE1. All those groups are loved by Koreans just for their pure talent. Back to BLACKPINK, since they are the only group under YG that has reached to this kind of global popularity. More eyes are on them, more pressure are on the whole team that working with BLACKPINK especially Teddy. Teddy especially expressed his overwhelmed during the documentary called Light Up The Sky on Netflix. YG is also known for quality of production and music. They dont make music just because of money or awards => it's proven by the % of income actually fairly shared to their artists comparing to lots of other companies in Kpop. So do some research before making anything statement (to avoid getting hate). Again, enjoy your Kpop journey. BLACKPINK is a fastet group that got the global reputation after 2 years of debuting. So yes, they have been getting lots of hate and different opinions about their works and skills. Wisely, if they're not talent how can they get this famous? Kpop world is very very crazy with tons of craziest fans. I hope you can enjoy the talent of the idols or the people that you love. Dont compare this group to other group, cuz they're all talent of their own. Especially never compare a girl group to a boy group, cuz you'll be surprised of how ridiculous the difference are. Also, fact in Kpop can be twisted by fans in a blink of an eye.

Also, there's lots of things that I disagree in this video. For example, they make the viewers think BLACKPINK is for commercial music only, and all they do is depending on the scarcity principle. Its NOT TRUE. The most long waited time that fans had been waited for BLACKPINK album was from Oct 2020 when they dropped THE FIRST FULL LENGTH ALBUM - THE ALBUM to August 2022. During this time, they had a virtual concert, 2 of the members were doing their own music solo projects. So yes, BLACKPINK has been working for their music non stop. Also, Rosie had said she missed the training time when she was surrounded with music and music only. My point is BLACKPINK is not the group that focus on doing whatsoever that make them famous, BLACKPINK is the group that love music generally. All 4 of them love music, thats why they tried and fought so hard in order to do music. Cuz they're all born in rich and powerful family, why would they need to do 6,7 years of training to debut just for money or fame??

The K-pop industry is very competitive being a YG trainee is a big previledge but it's hard to stay cause they trained really hard but they learned a lot & used it to other agency if ever they don't debut at YG...agencies grab YG trainees after survival shows or offer them cause they know YG trainees mostly are talented that's why many of them also debuted

You didn't see the picture that jannie rosé was doing with Ryan?.They were with the music all time, as BP producer Teddy said in the documentary. We have 100 songs, we just choose the one that we think is the best.But the truth is western artists. It took more than a year to come back.You could say that western artists are back with 12-24 songs.I dare say people don't remember less than 5 of the 24 songs on that album.And now BP up chart every song on Spotify. Do you see the difference? Few songs make the listeners appreciate the music.It's better than half the song you listened to. Press to change because there are many songs.and their songs have dance moves did not stand to sing like a western artist They have to practice dancing.

The kpop industry in general is very competitive. There are trainees who train for 10+ years and never debut. It’s really all about survival and trying not to get cut. As the years passed the YG executives would make decisions based on what they wanted their next girl group to look and sound like. It’s likely they ended up going with 4 members because 2ne1 also had 4 members and it’s easier to give each of them a chance to shine. Regardless the other 5 girls were cut and are no longer in YG. But I do know Miyeon (the one from KDA) is still very close with the Pinks

Your comment about the fact that Ed Sheeren takes two years to write new music, promote it and go for world tour has no relation to what Asian Theory said. Regardless of what the artist do, the fact that their new music comes after two or more years period. Is Blackpink doing music during their hiatus? Who knows. They could be recording alot of songs to select the best few for release. Twice in particular, can have 3 to 4 comebacks a year. They also have many shows to attend and also world tour. Asian Theory wasn't referring to the Scarcity Principle when he was talking about the western artists.

Great reaction. With all due respect, your professors are ignorant idiots if they thought the logo was just an after-thought by techy nerds. Steve Jobs was not a techy nerd, he made sure that everything that Apple produced was aesthetically and architecturally pleasing to the human eye and feel, not just functional, even to the point of making the internals of the Apple computers look attractive when their case was removed. Jobs has a well-earned reputation as a marketing and design genius. His partner Steve Wozniak was the tech engineering genius. Jobs thought long and hard about the logo, and actually commissioned graphic designer Rob Janoff to develop the logo. At the time Janoff was an Art Director at Regis McKenna, a vanguard design firm.

Idk he had a point about western artists bc that is more common for western artists … think of Ariana Grande, Taylor Swift, Beyoncé, Rihanna, Chris Brown, Adele, the list goes on. A lot of them took a year or over 2 to release NEW albums in between even songs too. Kpop standards of comebacks are so much quicker bc they’d comeback with songs or albums every FEW months within a year ….. that’s why BLINKS always get sad when BP has a comeback bc we already know more groups get more comebacks than BP does since we wait 2 years + for them each aftermath of their comeback and when BP are on that mini break doing a lot of other stuff other kpop groups still release SO MUCH so that’s why he explained it like that and as a kpop stan for a few years now what he said is valid and makes sense 💗
@AmariLeone
@AmariLeone 2 жыл бұрын
True but when those artist you mention come back after 2 years, they release an album with 12-24 songs on it. That's still a lot more music than YG was allow BP to make which is why I said what I said about it being different & why I felt like it could be making the girls sad
@robertm1015

The YG comment about BP being a copy of 2ne1 but "looking pretty too" is always taken out of context. What he meant by it is 2ne1 the focus was always focused on the music and the concepts and never the appearance of individual members necessarily. While with BP he wanted the focus to be on the music but also their individual looks. Which is what has led to brand endorsements and everything else on the side along with the music. Essentially BP could end up never making music again and still be just as valuable as brand ambassadors around the world.

To clarify YG's statement of wanting BP to be the prettier version of 2NE1, from what I read, he himself wasn't really saying 2NE1 was ugly. At the time though, a lot of people didn't really think they were pretty (though I beg to differ lol), saying stuff like their visuals weren't on par with other GGs. S.Kor has a pretty rigid beauty standard and I guess 2NE1 didn't fit that standard and there were always people pointing that out. SO, when it came time for BP to debut, when YG said they were the prettier version of 2NE1, he was basically addressing that. That "yeah, they're basically a copy of 2NE1 but also fitting that beauty standard you guys want". Still a pretty horrible thing to say LOL but that's what he really meant with that statement... This video, though 2 years old now, is still so relevant lol especially after the recent comeback 😂 breaking records left and right and making history 👍

@@AmariLeone Lol yeahh I was the same! Once I found out what he really meant by that, I understood but all the same, it's a pretty terrible and pretty sad thing to say regardless. And yesss!! It's like with Mamamoo for me! Some people were saying how they were ugly and not up to the beauty standard blah blah blah and I'm just here like "...wait, what?? You call that ugly?!" The same with 2NE1 when I later got into them. Prettier versions of BP? Really now? Because I found 2NE1 pretty attractive as well.

excuse some parts of the vids cuz it’s exaggerating. most specifically “yg planning them to take over the world.” where in fact they are most likely the least to take advantage their success in the west. Like yeah they do sign to an american label but the promotions they do there in the past years are bare minimum. If it’s the other grps they eventually will take every single project they could in the west to create brand awareness there. but look at them they only have few contents in the west. and they wouldn’t be in the band for this long if they do have bad terms to one another. for example fifth harmony(I know the issue that the members are quite inferior to camilla) pretty clear that they stated that once the members of the grp settled to their positions and learn their weakness. they will have synergy, that inferiority towards another won’t come in their way.

My point was that they aren't as good as their competitors. In fact it was almost the opposite; My point was that their branding wasn't throughly thought out & meticulously put together like BP's, but it worked out for them as their products carried them to the point of their branding being viewed as good.
