they write and produce their own music. the leader, RM, does a lot of the lyric writing. there are three rappers (the rapline) and they all write and produce, for the group and for their own solo works, and occasionally for other artists as well. vocal line (four vocalists) has a lot less experience with this, but they've been branching out recently and working personally on their own solo works. the group began as a hiphop/R&B group, for what it's worth. two of the rappers were underground rappers before joining their agency.

I have to say that I wasn’t a fan of pop music or rap before discovering BTS. I hated rap, actually. All of heard had been the shallow crap that’s always playing on the radio here in the states. However when I discovered BTS, all that changed. Their rap has meaning. It’s complex and the lyrics are often genius. Their music is meaningful. They are meaningful, and once you delve deeper, you discover that the bond they have with their fandom is something that really doesn’t exist anywhere else. It’s really special.

When I’m old and on my deathbed, I will remember the days of BTS as fondly, as my parents regard the days of the Beatles, if not more so. Without BTS, I can’t guarantee that I’d be alive today. Yes, they write their own music! They have an in-house team of producers in their company, BigHit, who has been co-producing/writing their stuff with BTS since BTS debuted seven years ago. BTS have talked about how they all work together like a friendly competition to see who can come up with the best beat or melody or lyric, and then they all agree on who did the best and then that gets put into a song. Though the members write and compose more than they directly produce, they still have a hand in working alongside their producers and making suggestions, saying what they like and don't, etc. Still, member Jungkook produced the song "Magic Shop," Yoongi has produced many songs like "Tomorrow," "Dead Leaves," "Let Me Know," "Shadow," "Jump," etc., and the others have production credits for other tracks as well. They are very, very, very involved. BTS write 95% of their lyrics, with Namjoon (RM) being the main songwriter. For their 2019 album, Persona, he said in a livestream where he was speaking about the album that he had written 90% of that specific album. The main songwriters are him, Yoongi (SUGA), and Hoseok (j-hope), AKA the rappers of the group. The other four members have not been credited with as much as the rapper, but they've also spoken about melodies they've made or lines they've made that are in songs but they were not actually credited. For example, in the song "Blood, Sweat, & Tears," Jin revealed that Jimin came up with the main melody, though Jimin is not listed in the song credits. This leads me to think they all participate even more than we know. The vocal members still have participated, all actually with writing credits on their most recent album, 7, as well as Jimin with a production credit. They have worked a lot on their own solo music with writing and composing, as well.

5:47 I really appreciate how you also talked about the performance as a whole, not just the music, not many ppl truly recognized it. It reminds me of when the leader, RM, shared his view on Kpop as a genre. What they have to put on the table is the whole package: music, cheography, fashion which revovles around a chosen concept. The art in the kpop genre in general is meant to be delivered with all of these factors. After finishing watching the video ofc our Min Yoongi and his responese in the interview with the Grammy is perfect
@cynthiaperez22324 жыл бұрын
So you know, Kpop is not just the music. It encompasses music (all genres & mixed genres), dance, fashion, and beauty. It's an audio/visual package. That's why kpop performers are called idols. They are supposed to represent all 4 aspects. Every kpop fandom has a differently designed light stick. The ones that BTS fans use is called an ARMY Bomb.

From nobodies to legends 2019 by xCeleste ir a good video as well :) Also, yes they do have in-house producers but they participate in the production as well, specially the rappers (although lately the singers are getting more and more into the production aspect, so really everyone does!). RM writes a lot of the lyrics, and he does livestreams where he explains the process and the meaning and changes that the songs have. Every member has written lyrics and/or participated in production at some point. EDIT: Just finished the video, loved the reaction and the openmindedness

they just released their new album called "Map of the soul: 7" which is already the best selling album of 2020 (4mln preorders). And yes - they write and produce their stuff. Considering their music genre - technically it's K-pop, but in reality it goes way beyond that. And during the recent interview the members themselves answered the question by saying that they are their own genre - "The genre is BTS" (the hashtag was also trending #1 on Twitter that day).
@jacovington1ify4 жыл бұрын
MeryKeit- just so you know, K-pop (Korean-Pop) consists of various genre's of music, mainly Rap, Hip Hop, R&B, Pop and Rock... this is from RM. As you know, they themselves were originally a Hip-Hop Rap group, but we know that they were then changed to be a K-pop group. But, ALL K-pop groups has at least one Rapper because that is part of what K-pop is... its not really like American Pop as some people think. Just saying.

The part where it talks about the self produced stuff, is referencing the music that they make entirely themselves. It's stuff that they make and release for free as a gift to the fans. For the stuff that is released on albums, they do mostly themselves. They come up with something, send it in to the company's in house production team. Then, they receive pointers back from them and adjust edit and add more, and send in the next version. This is done for most of the songs. Now, some of the songs, like the solo's where the lyrics are not mostly written by the group members RM, Suga, or J-hope. The individual soloist or soloists do an interview with the company, where they talk about how they are feeling and what they want the song to be about. The in house production team will then hand it off to RM who will write something, send it to the soloist who gives a revision, may write some lyrics, and maybe makes a suggestion. Then they send it to the in house production team, and then it goes like normal. Or in the most recent album, RM could not write any lyrics for one song. One of the in house producers then stepped in and wrote most of the lyrics, and collaborated with the soloists in his stead. They were also gifted a song before, it was "Make it Right", Ed Sheeran sent the song to them as a gift.

Bts Is south Korean group, this days people prefer don't mix them with kpop ** 1. They are 7, 4 vocalist, 3 rappers (2 underground rappers) all dancers 2. Bts compose and produce their own music, so is very personal, they talk about mental health, politics, society, their fans, self love, etc 3. They have a story behind their videos so is difficult to new people understand, we (the armys) have to read a several books and study set, philosophy, psychology and mythology to understand. Their last album for example was "map of the soul:persona" and is inspired by the psychologist book the map of the soul by Jung. 4. The army love them because they are good people who through a lot of bad things to be where they are now, and even being famous they stay humble. 5. They have a lot of genres and you can find subtitles in every possible language. **Bts always present themselves as a Korean group, and always said they don't want to be labeled in a genre or industry. The fans also do not want to be mixed with kpopers, (most of us aren't kpop fans) we don't have the same ideals

You can watch BTS From Nobodies to Legend 2019 to know how far did they grow now. In Korea, people called them " national treasures" , " The pride of Korea " and the Korean showbiz extremely respect them. Anywhere they go can become tourist destinations of Korea. Even when they held a fan meeting in a Korean city, the government and the people changed all the venues there to purple and welcomed them like the president. They used to be looked down on and treated badly in Korea, but now every celebrity who mentions them must be really careful if they don't want to be criticized. even parliament and entertainment companies' representatives once held a meeting just to consider waiving military service for BTS because they brought so many benefits to the country, their profits were more than 10 or 20 mid-sized companies combined, helping the Korean economy grow. They see BTS as a separate brand rather than just a KPOP group anymore, that's all true. In Korea, music awards ceremonies usually have 3 to 4 grand prizes (Daesang) and last year they all killed the entire grand prize, BTS owned more than 40 grand prizes in Korea in just 3 or 4 years. The first grand prize they received was in 2016. It was an unprecedented feat in history, but no one dared to criticize them because they absolutely deserved it. BTS is also the 7 youngest people in Korean history to receive the Cultural Medal and Lifetime Achievement Award for their contributions to Korean music and economy.

They do write and produce. For group releases (BTS), they write the lyrics because it's their own story. Their leader RM used to study poetry. The 3 rappers (including RM) also participate in the production. Yes, they have an in-house production team and outside help also, but they produce beats, submit them to the main producers and whichever is the best gets included in the album they're working on with other materials that were chosen. After the musis is done, they write the lyrics. However, the 3 rappers also produce their own mix tapes, which other than a help from a sound engineer, they complete on their own and released both for free on Soundcloud and for sale on iTunes. The vocal line started participating in the album production this year. There is more to BTS than meets the eye.

There's nothing wrong if artists don't fully write their own stuff. Why do some people make it sound like its a bad thing? Song writers and producers need singers just as much as singers need them because not everyone has a great voice or have confidence to be a public figure. Vice versa. So it's not a bad thing. Anyways love the reaction. 😊💜
@AngelaSealana4 жыл бұрын
Good point. I suppose today there's an underlying assumption that singers don't need talent because producers can make them sound better than they are. But for people whose talent is well known, like Celine Dion, Whitney Houston, Justin, Bruno, etc., it doesn't matter whether they produce their own music or not.

Yeah, the thing I’ve always loved about BTS and what made me want to stan them was their sincerity. They do write and produce A LOT of their own music alongside their in-house producers and the few outside writers and producers they use occasionally. They really try to deliver their own emotions, experiences and thoughts into their songs, along with some social commentary sometimes. That’s something that really sets them apart from typical “boy bands” or kpop idols. Even how much of themselves and their struggles they choose to share with fans through documentaries truly shows how genuinely they love what they do and actually love music and their fans. They’re really amazing guys honestly.

I agree with your point that BTS are like The Beatles. They do remind me of The Beatles as well. I am personally a fan of both bands, and I also see some similarities. One, V (Taehyung) reminds me of Ringo Starr back when The Beatles were still together. Second, I think both bands evolved similarly. BTS started out with their hip-hop roots, but then they matured into more genres of music. The Beatles started out as a common boy band for the time, but they soon became their own unique band starting off with Help! and continuing creating distinctive music until their break up. And of course, they both became famous.

BTS write, compose and produce their own music. they are perfectionists and are very hands on in everything. they have their self produced mix tapes that they allow fans to enjoy for free aside from their official albums. BTS are 7 amazingly talented, intelligent, funny, respectful, passionate, well driven and thankful guys that's why ARMYs loves them unconditionally! we embrace everything about them! BTS are very genuine and simple people. they love churos, sprite, ramen etc. they appreciate every little thing. BTS is the best! there's nothing like BTS! those things you saw their fans are holding during concerts are called ARMY bombs, they are the official lightstick of BTS. they are controlled via blutooth.

The other song you liked was Ddaeng, one of my favorites!!! It’s from the rap line and has VERY intricate lyrics that play with Korean words. Please react to it (:

Wow.. loved the wholesome reaction!! Couldn't have subscribed any quicker! And yea, it's true. Many members of BTS actively participate in most parts of music creation, be it melody or lyrics. Their lyrics tho... They r some of the deepest stuffs I've come across. They r so creative and have such diverse topic range. Most of their MVs and Lyrics have multiple layers: a) it can be enjoyed as an individual song with a proper meaning. b) the deeper metaphorical meaning that shows what they r actually talking about. c) a meaningful story that connect the song with the rest of the songs in the album. Kindly listen to few songs like 1. Ddaeng (lyrics vid, explanation vid and behind the scenes of the creation vid) 2. Spring day (lyrics vid, MV, explanation vid) 3. Spine breaker (lyric vid, explanation vid) There are many more.. these would help you appreciate the actual DEPTH behind their lyrics. Regards, An Indian Army. PS. Pardon the really long comment and any mistakes I may have made. My English isn't very good.

They do their own stuff but there are inhouse producers as well as outside producers. They also work with other writers in the business. However they take part on every song. They also write and produce their solo work themselves. 4 of the members have their own studios actually. This dive you're taking into their work is gonna be interesting. Btw it's ok if after this you still aren't a fan. Everyone has their own music taste. It's more important to the fanbase that the group & their work be treated with respect rather than everyone & their grandmother fall inlove with them.

@@mdash2123 that's great! since you like Jungkook (guy who sang euphoria) I just thought I'd let you know that he has some english covers out. You can just type jungkook english songs in youtube and it'll pull them up. He also had a solo on the group's new album called My Time that you can find on youtube as well.

Welcome to the rabbit hole of BTS! There is soooo much great content and we ARMYs are very willing to help guide you! I think the best introductory videos are who is BTS and from nobodies to legends 2019. If you like Jimin (he’s my bias as well btw) there are tons of dance videos of him but I think you will LOVE the my Serendipity and the live performance compilation video! Be warned though that there’s something called the Jimin effect and it catches everyone! Lol! Enjoy the ride!

This is a great video. I am enjoying watching you learn and experience bts. There are a few great videos like this one that go over their journey. I recommend watching the bts HYYH/WINGS/Love Yourself music video and short film series. Also since you are a music guy I recommend sitting down and doing a Full Album listen to Love Yourself Tear since the songs are ordered to take you on a journey through genre. Its a full concept album and its gorgeous.

yes the three rappers actually write and produce their music most of the time! in fact one of the them wanted to be a producer when he joined the company and in the cases when they get songs written and produced for then they usually volunteer to add their own touches to it! they other members work hard with them too

BTS do a LOT of their own writing, and produce a lot of their own music. They've been given a lot of leeway from their company to say what they think without repercussions, and they do basically all genres of music. You want hard rock, they've got it. You want passionate ballads, they've got it. This is why people stan BTS. They do kinda everything. And they don't just sing, they produce and they compose. They care about the actual music. And they're good at it. Plus, their albums are written to things like Jungian concepts because who needs simple concepts when you could plan an album about Jungian philosophy? Sweet, smart, humble boys.

Please react nobody to legends 2018 and 2019 by xCeleste! And I love your reaction.. While many K-pop songs are about relationships and love, BTS cover subjects that other bands may not like bullying, elitism and mental health. To polish their performances, BTS practice for hours. For their performance, they were working at it for 12 to 15 hours a day to get it right. Well, it certainly paid off! In September 2018, BTS made headlines for becoming the first Korean pop music group to address the United Nations (UN) . RM, who's the leader of the band, spoke about overcoming insecurities and urged other young people to do the same. They are actively involved in the making of their music (writing, production, arragments, etc.) Fyi: ARMY never runs out of quota .. 💜💜💜

Can I just say a thing ? Because I was soooooo angry like all of the French ARMYs with me in the concerts! The fact is that we were preparing Young Forever months and months before the concert and we were super excited to sing it to BTS, and we were soooooo unhappy, upset and disappointed when we discovered that the UK ARMYs stole our project and Big Hit made a mistake by doing it in the Wembley stadium, Big Hit Entertainment said sorry to us (not the UK ARMYs) but it was too late, we chose another song but our stadium refused our project because it was too late to organize it! So, I just wanted to say that because nobody really knows the story and I'm still disgusted about the fact that ARMYs and I weren't be able to sing it in France after months of work and practise! I don't hate UK ARMYs, but it was our project and I hope in the future, there will be no stealing anymore, especially the French speciality to make the stadium tremble, who is our identity. Thank you.
