Seventeen is known as one of the Kpop industry's only self-produced idol groups. Which means that the members are the ones that create everything themselves, with help and advice from Pledis Entertainment's choreographers, songwriters and rap producers when needed. But everything is pretty much created by the members and the professionals are only consulted or asked to assist to bounce ideas off of and to finetune things, etc. So, "Home;Run" was wrote by Woozi, who is the leader of the vocal unit, with help from the rest of the vocal unit -- Jeonghan, Joshua, DK, and Seungkwan. Hoshi, who is the leader of the performance unit (dancers), creates the group's choreography along with input from the other members of the performance unit -- The8, Jun and Dino. And S.Coups, who is the leader of Seventeen and the leader of the hip-hop unit, writes the rap sections with help from the other members of the hip-hop unit -- Wonwoo, Mingyu, and Vernon. Seventeen's name comes from the fact that they have 13 members + 3 sub-units (Vocal unit, performance unit and hip-hop unit) + they come together as 1 group = 17. Their fandom name is Carats -- like Seventeen carat diamonds. 💍And their symbol is a diamond. That is why in the MV you see them trying to steal the diamond because the diamond represents their fandom. And the song is about their relationship with their fans. To find 13 young men, who really didn't know each other before becoming a group, that are so multi-talented is impressive. And the fact that they are constantly able to come up with hit after hit and maintain one of the top spots in the industry all on their own, makes them even more mind blowing.

Yes exactly, just to add a little detail: Basically any song of SEVENTEEN, and so "Home;run", was written, composed and arranged by Woozi, who as she/he said is a member of SEVENTEEN. He literally produces all of their songs, the members always help him in the writing process and mainly Vernon, Scoups and Mingyu help him in the composing phase. Ofc, there's also the help of other parts, like Bumzu and Prismfilter. In case you're curious you can search "SEVENTEEN Highlight Medley" and click on any album of your choice and there you'll find info about who composed, wrote and arranged the songs and believe me, when you see it yourself you just get amazed by it! Also Woozi recently received the "Best Producer Award" at AAA 2021, so finally, he was recognized by everyone for his amazing skills in composing😄

Home;Run was written, composed and produced by Seventeen member Woozi ! He has a classical background, he played the clarinet when he was young and knows how to play a bunch of instruments. He's honestly a music genius (even though he doesn't like when fans say that) and the brain behind 90% of Seventeen music. I absolutely agree with what he said about sticker. I personally loved it, it was so risky, so NCT like, cuz only NCT is brave enough to try stuff like this, they know that it can break their fame and fanbase but they're not afraid of it. The whooe concept of NCT was to experiment with sounds and music. I also love sticker because it doesn't have a base sound that can cover their vocals, so when you're singing live you can't mask anything, so it showcases hiw strong vocalist NCT has, they are confident in their members voice and know can hold up, it's like they are flexing vocals and I absolutely love it, they showed hiw they were so worried if they could pull this song off, actually record it, but they did. They put a beautiful melodical song on too of a distorted tune and made it work, they proved something like this can be created. And I appreciate it

Knowing that SVT are self produced I was so freaking proud that he liked it! And of course, who doesn’t like a good swing song. Btw, he was talking about mixing the latino free energy with kpop, you could show him some kpop songs with latino music influences like Super Juniors Lo Siento, Sf9’s O Sole Mio, Vav Seniorita, Mamamoo Egoistic, etc. There are so many! Thanks for SEVENTEEN...as u say SEVENTEEN have 13 members and SEVENTEEN performs as one group, and the members are divided into three units, each with a different area of specialization: 'Hip-Hop Team', 'Vocal Team', and 'Performance Team'. SEVENTEEN is considered a "self-producing" idol group, with the members being actively involved in the songwriting, choreographing, and other aspects of their music and performances . Neat thing to note, Woozi won Best Producer (producer of the year) at the AAA 2021. He is the youngest at 25 to have over 100 songs credited to him. He does most of the production along with Bumzu on SVT music. He had also produced songs for other artists and groups. I won't go into all the rest about SVT since I saw most of it in the comments. Also I love these songs and it was great to get such a nice breakdown of each song.

Yes, at least half of the members of EXO play the piano, but that really has nothing to do with "Obsession" -- none of them are playing the piano in the song and they didn't write or produce the song themselves. 😊 Chanyeol the rapper plays almost every instrument under the sun and produces a lot of his own solo songs, as well as writes a lot of his own rap sections, and Suho (Red hair), Baekhyun (Blond main vocal who is the fencer in the MV) and Lay (Chinese member, but not in this MV) all play the piano. And Chen (the one with the black hair and crazy high notes) can play a little. Although the members are known to write some of EXO's songs and they have participated in the songwriting and lyrics of some of the songs, "Obsession" was not one of the songs that they had a whole lot of participation in.

SM artists (EXO, AESPA, and NCT) MOSTLY farm producers and songwriters (frequently overseas producers of color) to find the best and most experimental sounds. There are some songs that other SM artists have written and other SM artists that write for themselves but I would say that's the exception and not the rule. For me SM artists are always this really precise line between awesome and new and too much. Often NCT songs require a few listens before my brain pallette expands and then I VIBE with them. SM aritists strength is always in their willingness to push boundaries and their VOCALS imo. Always top top notch. For Seventeen I think it is VITAL to understand how self producing (the members are all involved in production, rap making and choreography) they are and the fact that Woozi (the shortest member is generally the easiest way to spot him in the group) is the main writer and producer of almost ALL of Seventeen's VERY diverse discography and has been since the beginning almost. He's a genius. Other than that the most amazing thing about Seventeen to me is their competition level dance while singing live. DK and Seungkwan are probably top 10 vocalists in kpop for me. (a couple EXO members are in there too I think lol) The credits for home;run are literally: Writers: Woozi, Bumzu, Vernon, Seungkwan (Three members and Bumzu is an in house producer was seventeens vocal coach and began teaching woozi how to compose early in his trainee days so they often work as a team) Composers: Woozi, Bumzu, Nmore (Prismfilter) Arrangers: Bumzu, Nmore (Prismfilter) imagine doing all this work on a song in the studio while staying fit for a comeback, training and memorizing choreography, doing press and public appearances and video content/filming. LOL, this may be more information than he needs or wants to know, but what you saw in the "Obsession" MV was that EXO's doppelgangers were actually their alter ego clones and they were using their superpowers, such as Chanyeol with his fire power, Sehun uses his wind power to deflect the arrows, Baekhyun uses his power of light as a saber in the fencing battle, and Suho (the one with red hair) controls water in the room with all the pictures of water, etc. to fight their other selves. You see the planet on fire in the end of the MV because it's supposed to show how the world is coming to an end as EXO (the good guys in all black) and X-EXO (the evil ones in the colorful outfits with crazy hair and makeup) battle for control, etc. (Each of the members are playing 2 different characters -- there are only 6 people in this MV.) X-EXO has been created by the evil Red Force and EXO and X-EXO are fighting each other. EXO are trying to prevent X-EXO from taking over and corrupting humanity and X-EXO are trying to stop EXO from finding the Tree of Life and putting the two halves back together and restoring peace, etc. To truly understand EXO you need to understand that EXO debuted in 2012. "Mama" is EXO's debut song and MV and It is how EXO was introduced to the world and it explains the group's concept -- and since then, everything SM Entertainment does branches off from that storyline. From day one, EXO's concept is that they are aliens from planet Exo and they came to Earth with superpowers to protect the Tree of Life from the Red Forces. Each of the members has a superpower that is unique to them and almost every MV will have at least one, if not all of them, using their powers. Now you also need to know that In the beginning there was 12 members and they were split up into 2 groups EXO-K and EXO-M. EXO-K sang and performed their songs in Korean and EXO-M sang and performed those same songs in Mandarin Chinese. EXO-K had 6 Korean members and EXO-M had 4 Chinese members and 2 Korean members. So to really understand their full origin story you have to watch both the K and the M version of "Mama", because the EXO-K version focuses on the K members and their powers and the EXO-M version focuses on the M members and their powers. However, since then, 3 of the 4 Chinese members have left the group (short answer to focus on their solo work back in China) but there is still one Chinese member left, Lay. (Any performances or MVs you watch that took place prior to May 2014 you will see all 12 members.) However, now -- because they no longer have enough Chinese members -- they no longer do separate promotions, but they still produce almost all of their MVs and main songs in both Korean and Mandarin they just now promote all as one big group EXO with 9 members. However, in the "Obsession" MV there are only 6 members -- Suho, Baekhyun, Chen, Chanyeol, Kai and Sehun -- because 2 of the members -- D.O. and Xiumin -- are on hiatus during this comeback as they serve in the military; and due to the political issues between the Korean and Chinese government, Lay -- their Chinese member -- was unable to participate in activities with the group. So each new MV or project from EXO tells another part of the story, and over the years we fans have started to create a timeline and idea of what we think each part of the story is telling us. However, the introduction of "Obsession's" part of the story really threw all of our theories for a loop and it has made us question everything we have ever thought was happening in EXO's storyline. The MV starts out with the red and blue light because it's supposed to represent how EXO are currently battling with X-EXO and the Red Force for control. In EXO's MVs when you see red light or anything that is red, this represents the Red Force, and when you see blue light or anything that is blue, this is thought to represent EXO. Therefore, when you see red and blue in one scene or purple -- red and blue mixed together make purple -- this is showing how the line between the two sides is being blurred and they are fighting each other, etc. Since "Obsession" some think maybe EXO has been trapped somewhere from the very beginning and it has been X-EXO that we have been following all along. But I think it's still even more complex than that. I think at times we have been watching EXO and at times we have been watching X-EXO -- with the release of "Obsession" we have only just discovering that the story hasn't necessarily been showing EXO the whole time. With the new information provided to us through "Obsession," it also makes me question how Lay fits within the X-EXO/EXO storyline. Maybe he is one of the members who has been able to break free or avoid the Red Forces' control. In Lay's solo MV for "Sheep," the Allen Walker relift version, we see everything burning outside as if an apocalypse is happening. Maybe "Sheep" is showing us the planet burning from Lay's viewpoint, like we see the world burning at the end of the "Obsession" MV. Also, I believe that the storyline in "Obsession" is connected to SuperM's debut "Jopping" MV storyline. (SuperM is Kpop's very first supergroup that is made up of members of several of SM Entertainment's other male Kpop groups. The group debuted in 2019 as a collaboration between SM and Capitol Records in the U.S.) If you pay attention to what Baekhyun and Kai were wearing in "Obsession," those outfits are very similar to the black outfits that Baekhyun and Kai are wearing in the "Jopping" MV. Kai is even wearing the same backpack parachute in both MVs. Which seems to be SM's way of making sure we see the connection between those MVs. So it is thought that, as part of SuperM's storyline, EXO has gathered the best of the best of SM's groups -- EXO, Taemin/SHINee, NCT/WayV -- to help them battle the Red Force and maybe eventually take down X-EXO. Just like the Marvel Avengers come together as individual superheroes with their own storylines to create the Avengers and to fight evil, it is thought that SuperM is coming together to create the ultimate supergroup to help EXO fight the evil and corruption inflicted on humanity by the Red Force. Unfortunately, to make it even more difficult to understand, each part of the story is not necessarily in chronological order, so we as EXO-L (EXO fans) have to become detectives and analyze every aspect of all of their teasers, MVs, song lyrics, albums, concert VCRs, choreography and even live performances and piece it all together to understand the story behind it all. And not only are EXO's and SuperM's MVs and storylines connected, but pretty much all of SM's groups have storylines and concepts that connect together, which is designed to become part of one giant graphic novel or movie in the SM Culture Universe. To help you pinpoint the powers being used in EXO's MVs and live performances, here is a list of the members and what their special power is. EXO-K 💦 Suho (Kim JunMyeon) is the leader of the group and he is a lead vocalist -- his power is the ability to control water (Fun fact: Suho in Korean means guardian, as in the guardian of EXO. That's why as the leader of EXO, his stage name is Suho.) 💡Baekhyun is a main vocalist and his superpower is the ability to control light 🔥Chanyeol is the main rapper and lead vocalist -- his power is the ability to control fire and his spirit animal is the phoenix. 🌏D.O. As with all the groups under SM Entertainment, their storylines and concepts are all part of SM's Universe, including aespa's storyline. It is even speculated that aespa's story connects to EXO's and SuperM's storylines. I think SM has set it up so that at least all of their third generation groups -- and now even fourth gen. groups, with the introduction of aespa -- have storylines that connect, link together and intertwine. Each group has their own individual storyline and concept, but when you put them all together there are threads of connections between the groups. To help you start to understand aespa better as a group and to explain a little more about what is happening in their MVs, if you haven't already, you should watch aespa's "aespa 'ep1. Black Mamba' - SM Culture Universe" video that was released about 7 months ago right before their MV for "Next Level" was released. It's the first episode of aespa's drama and it explains in more detail about aespa's storyline. Please see the rest of my comment attached in the reply.

Part 2 of 3: As with everything that SM does, aespa is much more than just a singing group. They have a whole story that is more like a movie or an epic novel and all their MVs and everything they do is connected. As you have seen, aespa is a four member girl group whose concept revolves around the fact that their name means "avatar experience" and each of the girls has an avatar character -- as you see with their animated characters and scenes -- so they also are superhero-like beings, just like EXO and the members of SuperM. Their avatars aren't exactly "virtual members," but they are virtual characters that represent each of the members in the digital realm. As part of aespa's concept, it is thought that anyone who does anything online has a virtual character that lives online that represents them -- everytime we do anything online we leave a piece of digital DNA which is what is used to create our digital selves or avatar. If you watch the video I suggested above, this will all become more clear and aespa's concept should make more sense. And just like EXO, the members of aespa all have their own powers and symbols that represent them: 💓Karina (Yoo JiMin) is the leader of the group, she is a main dancer and lead rapper: her symbol is a heart and her spirit animal is a whale. She is Korean. 🌕Giselle (Uchinaga Aeri) is the main rapper and a vocalist: her symbol is the moon and her spirit animal is a unicorn. She is Japanese. ⭐Winter (Kim MinJeong) is a lead dancer, lead vocalist and the visual of the group: her symbol is a star and her spirit animal is a Siberian Husky dog. She is Korean 🦋NingNing (Níng Yìzhuo) is the maknae and the main vocalist: her symbol is a butterfly and her spirit animal is a tiger. She is Chinese. In order to understand aespa's storyline, you really have to pay attention to the lyrics of their songs, because the lyrics help to explain aespa's concept and what is happening in their MVs. (You should go back and watch the MV with the English subs, or even Spanish subs, on.) The way I see it is, there are two dimensions: aespa in the real world and their avatars (Kwangya) world. Aespa are connected to their avatars and everything the aespa members do in real life gives power to their avatars. However, because of the Black Mamba's temptation, aespa and their avatars cannot connect through the SYNK app anymore, so their avatars become lost. Therefore, I think in "Next Level" aespa is on a mission to try and stop the Black Mamba hacker and find their avatars in order to re-establish a connection. Fun fact: The song intentionally switches up in "Next Level" at that specific moment because, if you pay attention to the lyrics, it says "Naevis calling" which is referring to the fact that their avatars are summoning them to their Kwangya realm, so they teleport to the virtual realm (where everything is different) and then when the beat switches back to "Next Level" they are shown going back to the real world. Everything SM does, even the most minute detail, such as the structure of the song is done for a very specific reason. However, this is far from the first time SM has ever done mashups and had songs where it switches up the beat to a completely different song in the middle of the song. It started with songs like Girls' Generations "I Got A Boy," and they have done it with SHINee's "Sherlock (Clue & Note), F(X) and Red Velvet, NCT and even SuperM's song "One (Monster & Infinity)." It's a very signature SM style.

Part 3: To understand how all of SM's groups are connected, you need to be aware that it all began with EXO's debut in 2012. As you know, EXO's concept is that they are aliens from Planet Exo who have been sent to Earth on a mission to find and protect the Tree of Life from the Red Force, while also trying to fix all the things that are going wrong in the world, which are believed to be caused by the Red Force. The Red Force is thought to be here on Earth inflicting their evil agenda -- corrupting humanity and causing all the bad things that are happening in the world, such as war, hate and destruction of the environment, etc. And because EXO is trying to undo and prevent the Red Force from accomplishing their goals, the Red Force is also trying to take down EXO by capturing them, corrupting them and standing in their way, etc. Some theories even believe that Red Velvet is connected to EXO's storyline. Some think that Red Velvet, EXO's sister group, could be the Red Force. SuperM is the Kpop industry's very first supergroup which debuted in October 2019 and their concept and storyline is centered around the fact that they are Avengers-like superheros, so SuperM is the group that pretty much connects everything together. As part of EXO's story, Baekhyun and Kai -- who are members of EXO -- have recruited members from SM Entertainment's other male Kpop groups -- Taemin from SHINee, Taeyong and Mark from NCT and Ten and Lucas from WayV -- and formed SuperM, to help them battle the Red Force. It is said that the concept for SuperM is supposed to be like the Avengers, so, I see it as each of the members are a different kind of superhero that make up the larger "Avengers" group, just like how the Marvel Avenger members come together from all walks of life with all different abilities and powers, etc. to make up one big supergroup. Also, just like how the Marvel Avengers come together to combine their strengths and powers to help fight Thanos, I see parallels with what SM is doing with SuperM's storyline. SuperM is taking members from each group and joining forces to take down the Red Force. And just like how the movies "Avengers Identity War" and "Avengers Endgame" eventually had each of the Marvel Avengers members recruiting their whole crew to help in the fight, I think SM is setting it up so that all of its groups' members will eventually be brought into the fight. Theories have also speculated that NCT's/WayV's dream concept and storyline also connects to EXO's storyline. As with everything NCT does, it all has to do with dreams, dreaming or something to do with being in a dream state, which could very easily connect to EXO's other world and other dimension theories. Now, to explain how aespa is connected to the story. aespa debuted in November 2020, and so far they have 3 MVs that are connected to their storyline. So, in order to understand the story, you also have to watch "Black Mamba," and "Savage." The MV for "Next Level" tells aespa's backstory and explains a lot of what you will see happening in their debut "Black Mamba" MV, which leads into what is happening in their "Savage" MV. I am also starting to wonder if maybe aespa has something to do with the Tree of Life from EXO's storyline, because, in "Next Level," you see aespa and their avatars with what looks like the mother tree from the Hollywood movie "Avatar," so I wonder if maybe aespa were made the guardians of the Tree of Life, tasked with hiding the two halves of the tree. So, maybe the Tree of Life is what the Black Mamba is after. I think the Black Mamba maybe working with the Red Force, or it could be a separate evil being who also wants to find the Tree of Life and prevent peace from being restored in the Universe. As we are told in the intro of EXO's debut "Mama" MV, the Tree of Life was split in half in order to prevent the Red Force from gaining control of the heart of the Tree of Life. However, things on Earth have gotten out of hand, so now EXO needs to reunite the two halves of the tree in order to restore peace. So, I think part of EXO's mission is they are on a quest to find aespa in order to reveal where the tree was hidden. aespa was first introduced to the world in a teaser at the end of SuperM's "One (Monster & Infinity)" MV in 2020 -- about a week or so before aespa's debut. In the last scene of the "One (Monster & Infinity)" MV, we see Taemin with an LG phone and on the phone screen there is a symbol that appears. At the time, when that MV was released, we had no idea what that meant. However, soon after that, we discovered that the symbol you see on Taemin's phone -- ae -- is the logo/symbol for aespa. So, on top of being a teaser for aespa's debut, I think by making aespa a part of SuperM's MV, this was SM's way of establishing aespa's connection to SuperM's/EXO's storyline. Will aespa eventually join forces with EXO to defeat evil or will the Black Mamba gain control and cause aespa to team up with (Red Velvet?) and become members of the Red Force? We will just have to wait to see how SM connects the dots and draws the storylines together. But I have a feeling that, eventually, aespa's story will connect to SuperM's story, and, along the way, also EXO, NCT and Red Velvet's storyline, and maybe Taemin's solo work, and possibly even SHINee. (Even though SHINee is part of the second generation in Kpop, the members are the same age as third generation group members, so they sort of bridge that gap between second and third generation.) aespa's story is just another one of SM's epic concepts and mysteries that we will have to wait and see where it takes us.

KARD. there's two girls and two guys, though one of the male members (j.seph) is in the military right now, he'll be back soon. but the other male member BM has solo stuff. he produces and writes. the two girls (jiwoo and somin) don't have any solo songs right now, but jiwoo is acting right now and both are modeling. some songs i really recommend are gunshot, bomb bomb, go baby, inferno (bm and j.seph), enemy (jiwoo and somin)

If you want to see a kpop group that has girl and boy in the same group then you should check out KARD Their are 4 member group, 2 girls and 2 boys, one member named BM is Us and he is the one who produce mostly their song as a group. You can check their latest work called Gunshot or you can check their other songs like Dumb Litty, Boom Boom, You in Me, Rumor and Red moon. The group is on hiatus rn cz one of the boys enlisted the military, their songs usually called as "Noisy Song" it's basically every kpop songs that the beat are loud 👍
