These titles are made up. Usually by the camps of the artist. Gawa gawa lang mga yan. Walang “authority” to certify these titles. Dito lang sa Pinas uso yang ganyan except when the name is really really big. For example, Michael Jackson - King of Pop.

It is hard to break and actually make it in the Philippines because there are so ooo many good singers. That's why some have and are trying to break into the Western market like Eumee Capili. Others sing because they like it but chose a different life path like Carol Banawa. She had made it in the Philippine industry but later chose to become a nurse and migrated to the US. She does occasional shows though in the US or collaborations (seen on yotube).

Chair ☂ Kyla’s my favorite since SOP (rival show of ASAP back in the day). As others mentioned this is her song, I believe she wrote this for her husband. She collaborated with Brian McKnight (father & son). Brian gave her a song as a wedding gift. I didn’t even know who Brian McKnight is if not for Kyla (and that’s nothing to do with his popularity or talent, I just don’t know a lot of foreign singers before). She’s also featured in One Love by Blue feat. Asian artists (like many Asian artists!) Idk if you remember Blue but again, I only knew them because of Kyla and that song One Love or actually that song was famous here even before the version feat. Asian artists.

You might have seen it in the comments multiple times, it's called Tawag ng Tanghalan (call of the stage), and many singers came from this contest. Not all Filipinos can sing but music is part of the culture. In every thing we do... there has to be singing even on the hardest and lowest part . I remember planting rice have men pulling of their guitars and even the "magbabayo ng palay at tahip" has a lot of singing together among the workers. I remember that as a child. And then make the sound of the "bayo" and the sound of the 'tahip" as the instruments/instrumentals to the song. The most beautiful thing is that even the off tune dude can sing and makes the day more happier especially during the siesta and eating time together.

Speaking of cover and artists adding their favors to the song, it's funny because I really thought the song, I don't wanna miss a thing was Regine Velasquez 's original song. I only learned that it's Aerosmith's when I was corrected by a friend and actually made me listen to the original song. I grew up listening and singing her version and until now, i prefer hers even if the notes are so hard to reach. Also, her version of Madonna's Papa Don't Preach is a killer.
