Great video. All Grip-Tuth combs have a rope design across the spine of the comb. If there's not a rope design at the top, then it's not Grip-Tuth. The tooth length comes in two sizes: 1.5" for most hair types and 1" for thinner hair.-- the shorter tooth length won't poke through your hair. And they're handcrafted in the USA.

Thank you thank you! I recently got a few combs and they don't work for me at all. I used to have rhinestone emblished metal ones that worked like a dream, but they were so hard on my scalp, I had to stop using them. I will be ordering some of these asap in a few different sizes, since the ones I have now are so big on my head, I was thinking of cutting them down. Love your videos! Thank you again!

Speaking of Good Hair Days, their Magic-Grip Hairpins are awesome, too. Just two pins will hold up an updo.

I'm soooo glad you did this review! I've had HORRIBLE luck with side combs! I always thought my hair was just too thick or I was using them wrong because the teeth would always break or they would just fall out of my hair when I tried to use them... Gonna give these a try though- just might be my saving grace for side combs ;) THANKS!!

Oh wow! I'm going to have to eventually pick up a few sets of these. I've been using the cheapie ones (Goody brand, I guess? Whatever the major stores sell!) for years and hate how the warp/break easily. Thanks for the review!

@sprifty I checked the site and they are definitely there...type 'Grip Tuth' into the search box.

Hi! Thanks so much for this video. I went to the hairboutique website to try to purchase some but couldn't find it on the site. Am I looking in the wrong place? Or maybe you would consider selling them yourself? I think I remember you having a website where you sold some vintage products. If you still do, this would be a great product to add :)

@jenniferose7 these are the 1.5 inch ones I think...they were like the 2nd smallest ones.

@SenatorOfTheUniverse No I havent...let me know if you do. Although...you know...if it ain't broke, don't fix it. ;-) I really like the beautiful ones from the early 20th century but they don't hold my hair well...you know, the wire ones? I have to add bobby pins. :(

The most popular size is our 2 3/4" width ( 13-14 teeth) x 1 1/2"-- that's the one shown in the video. Also Grip- Tuth® sidecombs are made in the USA. Another web site selling them is Made In USA Forever.com

Having broken out an inordinate number of comb-teeth over the years from drugstore brands (Scünci!!! The worst offender!), I am so pleased to see this video. I wondered about sizes and when you said they come in different sizes, I actually put my arms up, like Rocky, and said, "GOOD!!!" That is how long I've been annoyed at the quality of drugstore side combs. Without them, my low-rent approximation of 40's side-upsweeps I've done forever would never have been possible.

Half of those places on on the goodhairdays link are broken. You can buy them at walmart online under: EasyComforts SM Clear Grip-Tuth Combs etc.. I think it's the same product.

Grip Tuth combs are very tight holding so if it didnt work out, there is probably another reason. Watch the tutorial I posted before this carefully (the one for Lorraine from 'Swingers) and try to mimic the technique for putting in the combs. Wish I could help more.
