There was no structure around the answer. The speaker was speaking his mind w/o taking the viewers through different phases of the answer. An idea about the framework applied for GTM questions would be nice.

One of my mentees was asking me queries about this video and hence landed here. I think the answer that Abhirup gave is more aligned to Market Entry than Product Launch. If the question is "Launch an Instant Loan App for Students" then it means that the decision of entering the market has been made, the market and customer research (discovery) has been done and the strategy and execution of how to launch the product to increase customer acquisition is something that needs to be figured out. This involves a different approach than what is mentioned. But from a market entry perspective, the initial framework for Insight Gathering is good and very nice pointers put forward. But the framework looked force-fitted and no attempt was made to make a recommendation in the end of whether company should enter the market (this primarily might be because of mixing two problems: market entry and product launch) and how it should do so. No coverage of how launching this product this will help with customer acquisition for the ecommerce. Leaving the goal hanging and not connecting back to how your answer will help the organization reach the goal is a big red flag. So, although very good points raised to explore the lending opportunity for students there was no justification as to how an Electronics and Lifestyle Products Ecommerce company would want to enter this market, let alone identify the way to launch a product to increase the customer base.

The answer is more of an entpreneur answer. Just putting out thoughts straight out of mind. In P.M interview, ineterviewer is looking for structure. Even though the guy had the knowledge, he won't get selected.

One thing I want to ask here. In the second question of the interviewee i.e what's the purpose of launching the app/product, the interviewer has detailed the reason. But if it would've been otherwise i.e if she would've told the interviewee to find it out himself (as first asked/clarified by the interviewee also), then what would have been the approach to do the same ? Kindly elaborate abit on this too. TIA

Nice Video! Thanks a lot Khanjan for uploading! I have a different question regarding PM role here if you could please answer. What percentage of the market do you think an XYZ product will be able to capture over 5 years if it is launched? Why did you put the above number? How to calculate that?

Sorry to say but very very bad interview! To begin with, the problem statement itself is not clear - are you evaluating entering the market or the decision is done and you now want to execute. The interviewee does not even layout a structure of all the big buckets he will cover. While I obviously have a few positive takeaways but this is not how you solve a case.
