@@RoarFactory I did amazing man. Thanks the top light worked great. Had difficulty doing the same light setup for a bottled product as major light reflected in. Glass bottle. I shot another packaged product well. Learnt something new.

Some good tips, thx. Just 1 thing. Forget that your sharpness is at f14 or higher. The higher you go from some point, the more blurred you get. So many make this mistake. Find the sweetspot of the lens you use (there is software for it) I bet you that your best sharpness is more between f4 and f9. Object to big, then focus stacking. ;)

Great video. You should do more food related videos. There are not a lot of videos on that content. I make hamburgers, but editing in post is very confusing and hard. I'm having to learn as I go!

Thanks. I usually get a brush in either program and blow out the highlights with the help of the histogram and clipping indicator. Fastest way I know. Masking is okay on products with straight lines, but try vegetables with serrated leaves :-) This way it also leaves a 'vignette' type inverse glow around the product or object which I find more pleasing and directing for the eye. Cheers from WA!

It was great to see your approach with one light and I wondered if you have been able to achieve pure white background and floor in any alternative setup that does not require any post production work?
@RoarFactory3 жыл бұрын
Hi John, to achieve pure white background you will be looking at a 3 light setup. For example, you will want the wall to be seperate from the white table in which your product will be sitting on. This will allow you to light the white wall separately to the product, giving you more control of how white you want the white wall to be. One you’re happy with the whiteness of the wall, you will have a second light on the side of the product in a large softbox. You may also like to add a white bounce card OR mirror, on the other side of the product to brighten the shadows. ...hope that makes sense?

Some digital cameras have the highest dynamic range and sharpness on iso 400. the white board on the left made the colours more dull. But for web purposes pretty much any iso will do.

Hi! I really love your videos, could you please help me with my setup? Is it better to go with amaran 100/200d/x and some more additional lights when creating home product commercials than only ls 120d II? I am considering also light dome II vs light dome mini + rectangle light diffuser... (don't know the size yet, 90x120cm?). I know there are some soft lights, Neewer 660 rgb panel led 3x, Youngnuo YN360 IIIPRO 3x, APUTURE AL-MW, quasar tube lights (but in my country we don't have quasars...). What would you recommend for a start? I have some rgb 90cri bulbs. Going to use Ronin RS2 PRO, waiting for a tripod yet.

is the photoshop backdrop replacement necessary for e-commerce product photos? It's not achievable with the flash? Its a pain in the ass to cut hundreds of products besides retouching all of them already
@Dreadfultime25 күн бұрын
Sorry for reviving a 3 month old comment. Depends. Some brands like the visible background, some want pure white, some want their product to float in white, some want a shadow so you can tell they're on a table. Up to you what your brand wants to look like. If you have a lot of products that need it you could hire someone to do it for you which is the workflow that big ecommerce studios use. Right now I have a client who wants pure white because the ecommerce site she's publishing in requires that.

Great tutorial. What’s the ideal focal range / distance between camera and subject when using the 100mm macro lens? Thanks
@RoarFactory3 жыл бұрын
Hey thanks man :) No real ‘ideal’ distance. Just depends what you’re going for I guess. Trial and error and see what style you like best. Also 100mm macro is the king at getting real close 🤩

Yo Jake, any chance you'll go through setting up a photo shoot studio on a budget? I don't do foodography (if thats the right word) but I do shoot promo pictures for small and similar sized setups and currently I've got no background or lights except a cheap $40 ring light I mount my phone on
