For anyone who is watching this video currently: sand is very bad for leopard geckos. Some people say that they’ve used it and it works fine but do not take the risk. Calcium sand actually encourages geckos to eat the sand and can cause impaction. please use reptile carpet, eco earth, tile, even paper towels.

Leopard geckos actually avoid sand in the wild. they live in an arid desert not a sandy. So you're better off keeping them on tile. (I've actually done this before where I made half the enclosure tile and half of it sand and they wouldn't go to the side with sand until I took it out).

Great experiment, I will not make this a debate, but let's just say I use plain paper towels now, not because of harmful effects, just because its easier to deal with.

geckoguy1990 Oh yea, papertowels are great. I still use them in my enclosure with the tile. Little square in the corner and they go there to poop :)

First off, to all the crazy people commenting. Calcium sand can be used for other animals OTHER THAN geckos. Freaking relax

Just go to Home Depot and get fine grain play sand...it doesn't clump when it gets wet. I've had my 2 snowy leopard geckos on it since they were 4 inches and never had a problem, any they accidentally eat gets passed through.

I understand your concerns, however sand is not deadly to reptiles. I have done countless hours of research to know for sure that it indeed is not deadly to reptiles.
