In this video I show you a mini jump starter that was given to me to use by my sales man. I honestly didn't think it would work but I was surprised to say the least. Nano Lithium batteries in these min jumpers really seem to do the job :)

My wife got me 1 for Christmas a few years ago. I looked at it and giggled. Then I bought a few auction cars for our car lot with dead batteries. I pulled the little giggle box out of my truck. It started every single car. It's actually started every single car I've ever used it on. Needless to say we now have 3 of them on the lot. The Noco brand are my favorites because of the serious jumper cables they come with. Great video :)

Electrical Engineer here for a little explanation: It is not surprising at all that these things work. They are based off off Lithium-Ion batteries, which have a much higher specific energy density than normal Ni-based batteries do. And you always have to consider: the battery in the car can be dead as can be, but there is still a lot of high enery electrons stored in that thing. So the little box does not have to compensate for the whole needed cranking current, but just for the difference the battery can not supply anymore. That is why they are called 'battery boosters'. You couldn't replace a normal car battery with that thing, as it would be 'cycled' to death, unless you have a fancy hybrid setup with complex algorithm-computer-controlled charging cycles. Tip for buying stuff like that: Find out where the battery cells come from, the brand name on the case is 100% irrelevant. Look for Korean or Japanese cells, stay away from Chinese ones. The latter work just as well, but they will deteriorate much faster. Hope that was helpful.

E.g. the products from NOCO should have good cells in them. But with a little bit of googling it should be easy to find out what the 'genuine' products are and what's just a clone from china

Best review.... EVER!! Most reviews are done by people that are being paid by the manufacturer to push they're product. Your sarcastic scepticism is a riot! But at the end when you turned into a giddy little boy was pure honesty. More reviews 'unsponsored' please! Thanks E.O.!!

Was in caribou, Maine snowmobiling, it was 20 below at 3:00 in the morning and we loaded up the truck to come home. Got in the truck to come home and the battery was completely dead. I was ready to go back to the hotel room when my buddy said he had this little battery starter. When he pulled it out I laughed. He said what do we have to lose. Hooked it up and the truck fired up easily. We look at each other amazed. It still read full power. When I got home I bought one right away. This thing is amazing.

I have had mine for 3 years, I have jump started about 7 people stranded in gas stations or parking lots with mine. I liked it so much I bought one for my wife to keep in her car, very easy for her to use, without the possibility of connecting it wrong, she has used it once after leaving her lights on while at work. Delivers a strong performance in a small package....like me ;)

HAHA! YES! BEST REVIEW EVER! I loved the sarcasm in the first part of the vid -- it was like a comedy show. Freaking hilarious -- seriously. And on a more serious note, the tests, later in the vid, were pretty awesome -- especially the extreme fork lift test. Pretty killer.

Some folks get angry at resurrecting "zombie" posts, but this one is worth a little extra attention. :) I bought a NOCO-brand jumper a couple of years ago to throw in my Jeep for when I'm off-grid. I finally got to use it on someone else's vehicle a few weeks ago, and it worked like a champ. Totally worth hauling around the extra 5-or-so pounds of weight for a couple of years, and way easier to use than jumper cables. Glad I bypassed the 20# jumper pack phase of this technology.

hey you can never have too many jump starter boxes especially a little one like that that you can throw in the glove box of your wife's car just in case my father and I one year drove from St Louis to Minnesota in a white out overnight the wind was blowing the snow so hard you couldn't see three feet in front of you but you could look up and see the stars the following morning cars were impacted full of snow and we jump-started like 7 or 8 cars my father used to have a set of 1 inch round semi tractor trailer cables and you could jump-start just about anything with them bad boys anyway can always use a little extra help you never know especially with the weather you guys get up there nice product

Rancher lady from the Sandhills. Love your review!! People should pay you to do them!! My husband bought one of these for me. It worked the first time I needed it for my old Lincoln. Today, I couldn't get it to work. At dusk, shutting up chickens, I see a strobe light going off in my car. OK, I think my problem was........I was trying to use, when it was turned off, not on. The blue lights to not go off right away when you power off..........(evidently since I had light turned on) and the wind was blowing 40 mph and I couldn't really see, if the green light was on, cause my eyes were watering so bad. It's also hard to remember to remember to charge it every 3 or 6 months, if it riding around in the back seat, covered up with (stuff) so give yourself a reminder.

18 months ago I got myself a rather bulky jump starter pack, which claimed to produce 600 CCA and 900 peak A. Based on SLA, has rather thick jump leads, and it worked fine for me. I still have it but haven't had my car battery go flat on me after the few times I got to use it. I have jump started a couple other people's cars with it though. Been replenishing the charge every 3 months or so as advised in the instructions. It has two cig lighter sockets, USB, and work light, reverse polarity indicator. 15V 800mA home charger, and a cig lighter charger which I haven't tried. It cost me 70 EUR, about as much as the battery I got for my car later.

I funded the "Juno Power" jump starter on Kickstarter years ago and it seems similar to this. Higher quality maybe, and it's 20,000mah with all the outputs and an AC dock. Couldn't be happier with it. I jump people with it all the time, so much more convenient than cables. I don't leave home without it in the car.

I have a NOCO GB-30. I works great for "normal" dead batt jumps. it will NOT jump a completely dead (2 volts or less) battery. It doesn't work miracles but it is convenient and less cumbersome that cables. NOCO isn't the cheapest out there but I have had good luck with other products from them. The GB-30 has "real" alligator clamps not those "mini" ones on this unit. Gotta beleive 20 jumps is a stretch too but hey.... maybe it will. Great little vid

Thanks for the thorough review. Your credentials as a regular, working guy go far with me. Costco has a similar product but different brand for $60. It will literally fit easily in a glove compartment. It's that small. And a mechanic I know has used them and was impressed by the power in such a small package. For 60 bucks it's worth a shot. Thing is I don't want to wait until I need it to see if it works. Gonna have to find some friends with dead batteries to try it out.

I actually bought one of these things a couple years ago based on this video. It was the same brand but a different model, but more or less the same. I only needed it once so far but it did the job. I've been thinking of getting a more powerful one to carry around with me on the job. These little things have come a long way in recent years. I'm really looking at the NOCO branded ones. They seem to have great reviews but can get pricey.

I bought one of these. I've had two opportunities to jump start a car with it. With a nearly completely dead battery on a volvo 940 it would light up the dashboard, but didn't provide sufficient power to turn over. On a Honda Accord with a "low" battery that was making the starter click, but not quite enough to turn the engine over, this thing worked alright.

That was pretty impressive. I was kinda hoping you see if it would start the 20 times. But noticed the battery in the car was starting to take a charge because I thought I heard start to turn of on its own for a second on the third try. I was just looking at a similar unit at NAPA when I was getting oil and a filter for my car. I saw that it stated it would start 4 & 6 cyl. cars. Also had outlets which I can't remember now. Was in a box slightly bigger than the unit so it didn't have all the attachments like the one you tested.. They went for I think $55. Just noticed this was done 3 yrs. ago, but thanks for sharing. I saw you responded and said it was still working a year ago. That's very impressive.

I'm not surprised at all. They have lithium batteries that put out 50 times their nominal amperage in burst mode. So if you have a 12 volt 5 amp battery, it becomes 15 volt 250 amps, and you can pretty much start anything with that. It's got a few issues, the lithium stuff is very volatile. It will also heat up like crazy and can cause itself to melt and set ablaze. What that jumppack is missing is some ultra caps in it to basically make it maintain the voltage and have more amperage.

Thank you Eric this has been a very helpful video in two ways!..first, my 800 AMP Strongway booster box jump starter has a dead battery and now I know that it should cost me about $40 for a new battery. Secondly, since the thing weighs 800 pounds I have an alternate choice in jump starting systems in this new technology. I will still fix the Strongway jump starter as it was pretty spendy, but am definitely going to get one of these Rockford jump starters as well! Awesome little unit! :-)

I've had good luck with one i have that's similar to this. Doesn't really work in place of a battery as others have stated, but for your average jump start situation it does very well. just keep it charged up or obviously it wont work and Li-Po cells don't last long if they stay dead.

Interesting to go back in time and see something I've had for years. Got a generic version in each vehicle and they're great. Pretty soon they'll just be the size of a 9volt and will run your electric vehicle a couple of miles to the charger. Lol

I got a Craftsman (I think that's the brand, I know it's a name brand) jump pack to review a few years ago. Charged a couple phones, ran my laptop then I tossed it in the car and forgot about it (it's about 3/4s the size of this one) until I went out to go somewhere and woops, didn't close the hatchback fully and battery is stone dead. Pull out the jump pack (my battery charger is circa 1980 and really scary!) It's at 60% hoping that's enough and Vroom car starts. Get to Advance who assured me on the phone they had a battery for my heap, they didn't. Little pack fired the car up again and I went across the street to O'Reilly's, they had a battery.

Cool. Great to keep in the car in winter time. Only thing I'd change is the case, maybe make it red, easy to see, and incase it in a rubber boot. The only test he didn't do was a drop test.

Since this has polarity protection, would I still be able to use it to connect to the battery cables while they're removed and a new battery installed? (To keep car electronics and memory powered up)

Well it did work but you never actually had a fully discharged battery. And most times you never do. I would have liked to have seen batt voltage before the test plus it was in a warm shop. I was hoping you took off the cables and see if it could put 175 amps thru the 8-10 gauge cable. Not sure what's going on I'm not an electrical engineer but you do have a sub that is so maybe Terry can give is some insight . This is my guess . The jumper is just boosting the available batt voltage and is not to be used without a battery in place. I think the lithium batteries are energizing a capacitor that boosts voltage for a short time. Seems illogical to me if the battery was completely discharged. For most times as you have shown It did do the job as intended. I'm impressed 👍

Steve Rob Funny you mention that. stuzman52 is in Europe right now with him woman on a little R&R. I would like to know his thoughts though too. I gotta tell ya that Nissan battery was pretty kicked. I honestly didn't think it was gonna work at all so I got distracted when it did but yes you are right I should have unhooked the battery and tried it. I suck at product reviews haha good thing they don't pay me right?! I just might buy it for the strobe light feature haha

I was talking to Terry today. I think he's visiting his wife's side of the family. Oh yeah he's watching your vid for sure tonight . Terry was raised just down the road from Andy Taylor over in Mayberry . Always wanted to see the place especially Wallys fillin station where Goober and Gomer worked I think it was in Mount Pilot. Boy them were the days :)

South Main Auto Repair I know you're impressed with the nano tech (I was/am too) but for commercial use don't buy that China made copy cat, put a few dollars to it and buy the originator, Anitgravity Battery's Mirco-Start. Go for their XP-10 model. Strongest one out there and far superior to the China copy. And, when I say copy I mean copy. If you compare you'll quickly see Rocket copied AG right down to the layout of the carrying case. But there IS a big difference in longevity and reliability.

Just wanted to give a +1 to BERPSU1 and the idea of getting the Antigravity Micro-Start XP-10. It has 300A (600A peak) so it should work for even larger engine sizes. It is the slightly bigger brother to the XP-1 which is like the one you showed.
