Strike Hold is very good at protecting electronics, it's a dielectric. Strike Hold as a lubricant you wipe off excess and leaves a dry film, which is idea for sandy conditions. It does however need to reapplied more often, when used as a lubricant. I only use it on my magazines and electric components.

Another great comparison. I've been using Hoppes #9 since the 70s and it has consistently performed very well. I've also had excellent results with Break Free. Just started using Ballistol in the last few years and I'm happy with it's results also. Appreciate your tests and they are entertaining to watch also. Thanks Magdad. 👍🏻

Excellent comparison. I always scan your videos to see if there is a new review. I have been curious about Strikehold, but your review answered my concerns well. Hoppes #9 is the best for cleaning, although a few others are also pretty good. You make outstanding videos. Thanks!

Yes, it is helpful. I've been using Hoppes 9 for decades, and I've watched your earlier comparisons. Hoppes seems to be the best for dedicated powder residue removal. Glad I've been doing something right for a change. But CLP products also have value for lubricating and protecting for longer term storage. I'm always interested in new lube products. A fair test. Thanks.

Thanks Pat! I use Hoppes #9 for cleaning the barrel and cylinder and a good CLP for the rest of the firearm.

Apparently Radco makes the CLP that is current military issue. Amazon sells it under Radcolube- Like all other products that have multiple uses it is compromised. Great test and video!

You forgot to measure smell. Hoppes No. 9 could be sold as cologne. It smells like freedom and fun! Any contender would have to clean as good AND smell as good! Thanks for the comparison.

I know some old timers (like my Gramps) that swore by 3 in one as lubricant for there forearms and either rubbing alcohol or WD40 for cleaning . From what I’ve observed my gramps and my pops fire arms never failed . What’s your take on these products.

Every time I use 3in1 the smell takes me back to hanging out with my dad while he cleaned his shotgun! The bore brush probably did more cleaning than the alcohol or WD-40.

I’m no expert… That being said I have spent some time with this kind of stuff. Only my opinion, but I don’t feel that anything will do as good a job as something that was made for that job. I’m not going to use motor oil to remove copper fouling. Just an example. Most CLP’s work great for the range or in field use. But opinions very from person to person. Great video all the same. Thank you

Thanks for watching David! A lot of folks rely on CLP's as a do-it-all. When first got started target shooting I was given a lot of conflicting advice, so I came up with these tests.

I've had some gunsmiths swear by strike hold not as a pure cleaner but more of a lubricant that sort of cleans and dries with a film to coat parts one would normally wet-oil up (like slide rails)... Does anyone know if it even dry lubes as well as I've been told?
