Hello again, the DCS patch that landed 01/28/21, included binds for the Combat Ready Panel's ECM Rotary Switch!! Hell Yes!! Now let's change those other "toggle" switches ED.
@wildbillkelso20834 жыл бұрын
Hello all. I found that since the panel review, ED has fixed the Radar Rotary Switch in a recent patch. On your Combat Panel, make sure to bind the Panel RADAR rotary UNLOCK to RADAR Switch - PULL. Enjoy,
@wildbillkelso20833 жыл бұрын
@DrumGunner Yes. No, the radar dial controls your entire radar functions. You'll have to go to school on all of the ground weapons systems to ensure you're using the correct combination of controls to lock/unlock a ground target. I actually stopped trying to keep up on the multiple changes and am waiting for it to settle down for another month or two before diving into the weapons delivery systems again.

I know this may be old news now, but I just ordered the super taurus, super libra, and both combat and takeoff panels. I splurged on me great big time. That said, I'm having a hard time understanding the virtual to actual info you're describing. The actual: the radar knob is pull to release from the emer position? Am I understanding this right? And then the virtual has a setting for "radar knob unlock-pull" to perform the same function in game? Is this correct?

I may not have understood despite staring at the words so I’m sorry. Am I to understand that one could not bind the hook bypass and launch bar toggles to DCS without their Simapp program? To me that seems very strange and so I’m not sure that I’m understanding given they are toggles. I completely understand about the lighting and maybe even the parking brake though that one is a bit odd too. Would you be able to clarify further? Thank you very much for the review.
@wildbillkelso20834 жыл бұрын
Hi Corsair, the issue is specific to DCS's decision to use "toggle" binds instead of separate "on-off" binds. They were effectively lazy when building the module. Simapp is required to attempt to use DCS telemetry to determine the in-game "switch state" to try and match the physical switch on the panel with the in-game switch. Hope that helps.

Nice review Kelso, I'm ordering both panels on Saturday 10th of April (next Winwing restock). Please advise most useful DCS functions to assign to these two centering stop sliders from PTO. Not necessarily Hornet module specific but generally speaking. The only thing crossing my mind ATM is zoom in / out view and I don't find it very practical being mapped to a takeoff panel. Currently there are many peripherals plugged into my MoBo USB ports (HOTAS, TIR, Rudder, 2 gamepads, headset using USB cable for vibration) do you suggest connecting these two to a USB 2, 3.0 or 3.1 ports? Too bad these two aren't interconnectible in order to use only one USB cable for computer connection. Perhaps in the future. BTW how do You, other flight simmers connect your hardware, straigh into a MoBo or do You use external powered USB HUBs? Too bad that stacked PTO and PCR aren't designed to be mounted to a MT1 Super Taurus mount vertical bars, it would be really nice having it straight in front of Your T1 throttle base. Another hint for future (re)designs. Best regards,

@wildbillkelso20834 жыл бұрын
Thank you for the compliment Chase. You are correct, it would be easier at first . . . but, since the module is not finished, the bind list will change over time as things are added. That means the first time the bind-list changes, a re-do would be required, ie., the ECM rotary. For that reason, I didn't add the current bind list. An obvious negative is that these switches aren't at all related to real world (or sim cockpit) positions, and that will make them hard to use effectively in VR. I appreciate the video and I'm sure with some practice and the old muscle memory, eventually this problem could be negated

@@wildbillkelso2083 that's good to know. I only fly DCS in VR and aside from the regular WH HOTAS and pedals, I just have the 2* OSB (forget product name) that obviously go great with VR. What I'd really like (I imagine there's a massive market for this in the entire flightsim -- VR arena) is a single controller (much like this one) that is generic and ready to customize so you can easily control every aspect of your plane in any flightsim (at least the top 150 most used buttons, switches or dials)... I can see this product is a huge step in that direction, and for most people a full sized cockpit SIM is a bit much, the constant keyboard/mouse/voice activated stuff is immersion limiting

+GrimReapersAtomic *These panels from WINWING® aren't even **_close_** to the McDonnellDouglas, Lockheed Martin, Northrop Grumman, and Raytheon prototypes!* For all aircraft types, the U. S. Navy specifies the controls for landing gear, launch bar, taxi lights and armament controls to port; caution/advisory lights, arresting hook and wing fold to starboard.

Are these products EC marked? I understand that the throttle and stick are not, and therefore are technically illegal to be purchased and imported by ANYONE in Europe. Huge shame, but just be warned if these items do not have EC markings, anyone purchasing these risks having the products seized and destroyed and recieving a large fine from customs.
@TealJosh4 жыл бұрын
Most of that stuff only applies if you are importing it for re-sale or own boutique. It's btw CE certification. Not required and haven't caused me any trouble while making several purchases from the most un-reputable China ebay sources literally taking gamble that I'm frying the USB overcurrent circuit on my PC's usb controller. Nothing has happened so far and no trouble with customs.

299$ is a lot of money for 2 panels! I will never stop bitching about flight sim peripherals prices. Its like they charge more because they know there is almost zero competition and also because traditionally flight simmers have always been adults probably mostly older than 40 I would say(no disrespect intended), who are willing to dish out 299$ on a pair of button boxes. Its almost like you might as well give up on playing flight sims if your a young adult or a teen because you wont be able to afford anything other than a very basic setup until you are in your mid 30's and have a stable job with decent pay.

the market is so small and there isint any scale of economy like that so it pretty much like each part is handmade

@@phillperry487 if you sell two different button box that is totally influenced by Hornet cockpit why you dont copy the layout? Make a left panel with landing gear, light panel, station and jett selection knob (why you separate in two panels?), master arm, A/A and A/G mode, taxi lights, anti skid, flaps, hook bypass and a correct brake lever. On the right panel hook lever, (correct) wing fold lever, and the rest of the buttons. You can throw the two sliders and use that space for more buttons

I almost fell asleep. Ok, couple things. You don't need 2 cameras to capture game video. You use one camera and obs. Easy fix. Next, for who ever reviews stuff next, don't be a robot. Relax, have some fun. Have some personality. Thirdly, you don't need to read the title of the slide, I promise. Last, I don't agree with how you put dcs issues as a con for the panel. That's not winwing fault. So in summary, teach and show ppl how to do a review before they do it. Thanks
@wildbillkelso20834 жыл бұрын
Brandon, thanks for your critique.Yep, the DCS issues weren't Winwing's fault. Should have moved that over to pros or neutral. If I do any more reviews, I'll complete my homework assignment 😆 and bone up on the additional technical requirements. The rest, delivery, etc., well that's me, good or bad.
