As vehicles and technology move forward, so do the requirements for air quality and emissions output for these vehicles. But while those things advance, our love for big power doesn't subside. These facts have had trouble coexisting for decades now.
Today, we're discussing GESi's solution for emissions/EPA compliance, the G Sport catalytic converter. Our friends over at LTH Exhaust use these GESi cats as a way to offer EPA compliant options for their customers, and together we've been testing them on this 1100rwhp '13 GT500!

Hyper and super cars are EPA legal and come with cats, let's get the same technology for our cars!

Nice to see another company other than Kooks stepping up to make legitimate cats for high-powered cars. I know I’ve got’em cuz I have to. I’m not at this power level, and mine haven’t been an issue, but to make some that can stand this kinda flow without power losses at that kinda power level is great for the industry!

I run cat's on my Bassani X pipe on my Terminator and with a 2.76 pulley ( Unported Eaton ) Exhaust and a JLT it put down 483/517 so I would not say having cat's held me back at all. Side note: I really wish VMP would bring back the 2.3 for the Terminators. I was really set on getting a VMP but since I have decided that I want a really good street set up for my Cobra and build it to the low to mid 600 range but with the 2.3 being gone from VMP my only option is the whipple. I do not need or want the biggest baddest blower to put on my car, I dont care about peak HP numbers. I want something that is a monster for the street ( not drag racing ) and a 2.3 fits that so well. I"m sure from a business stand point there is a reason why VMP no longer sells the 2.3 but from a consumer sand point it really sucks.

Tristan Smirnow A lot of people still want the 2.3 VMP. I hate KB I’d never use one even if it was free so my only option is the 2.3 whipple which is a great blower too but I really wanted a VMP.

Mentioned no loss in power. What was the dyno result prior to cat installation? Same? Torque as well? What is the cat protection temp. to back down timing set at? If prior to 2017, could you use the less restrictive Gen 1 version? Does the Gen 1 UHO flow better? Thanks for video. Opens up for a lot more questions to follow up on. These look to be very high quality units.

Same TQ as well. At 1650F you need to enrich fuel to cool any catalytic converter. More timing actually makes cats run cooler due to lower EGT (burn starts earlier in the chamber). Gen1 may flow every so slightly better but I would not let it be a deciding factor. They are very high quality.

Will it allow you to pass emissions in California though? OBDII test?

They have EPA compliant models, but CARB (California Air Resources Board) compliance is not something that's listed for them. May be worthwhile to visit their site and contact them directly regarding that legality. gsportbygesi.com/
