Today we hop back on the notion app. This time I'm giving you 3 ways to take notes and retain the knowledge you receive using notion. These 3 strategies have been tested by many and have proved to show organization and efficient recollection of information gained.

Of all the notion videos here, i have found yours to be the most useful. All other videos assume I am already a notion user and you start from very basic concepts which is really important for beginners. Keep up the good work!

I guess the Cornell Method is used for separated peices of information of what you learned framed to easily accessable and findable key terms. Outline method, which i use most, is for lessons which have multiple main points that are interconnected and must all be one after another. I usually use the three headers and bold text for outline # Main Point ## Sub Point 1 ### Sub Point 2 *Sub Point 3* And mind mapping is used for a lot more interconnectedness with more points and less details that you can't really capture with typed texts
@ProductiveDude

I agree, mind-mapping for me is usually a brainstorming method and in that case, it can be better to just draw it. You can also import your drawings to Notion too! Great explanation!

Great vid thanks for sharing, One question though: Is there a way to search through the text of each note, I get the tag system but what if you want to search for a specific word in a note, is there a way to do this in notion?
@ProductiveDude
@ProductiveDude 4 жыл бұрын
When you search through your notes in the database of notes, you should be able to type in a key phrase from anywhere in the note and it will come up. If you want to search for a specific part of the note, go to the note and use: CMD + F on a mac or CTRL + F on windows. This will pull up a search box in your web browser and you can type the word you're looking for.

Notion has a feature similar to that. You can make an exact copy of a block on a Mac, by doing option+click on the Menu button beside a block, and just dragging your cursor to where you want the copy to be placed. Formatting and everything will be identical to the original block. It will also copy any content inside the selected block (eg. if you select a toggle list, stuff inside the toggle list will also be copied). This feature is useful to make sets of similar headers, but a bit unwieldy for big chunks of content.

What I would like to see is a video on how to use templates. That is to say, how to use parts of a template in my notion, for example there is a menu planning template out there, well Id like to copy the recipe data base out of that, but then there is another one I like that does kitchen inventory really well, so Id like that, and the two will need to talk to one another.

Is Notion really good for *heavy* note taking? Over OneNote? I really wanna switch, but am nervous. Do you have any lag issues once you cross 10-15 pages?
@ProductiveDude
@ProductiveDude 4 жыл бұрын
I have NOT stress tested it that much. I recommend trying it for a week. Worst case scenario you can just copy and paste all your Notion notes to OneNote. I love Notion though, no performance issues that I've seen so far and it makes for a great note database.

@@ProductiveDude with Notion you can't take notes if you aren't online. Evernote and OneNote still win for taking notes. Notion wins only for the database capabilities and for the various layouts (table, kanban, etc..)
@RahulYadav-nk6wp

I am a developer, and I can say that you can use Notion to as many level of depth as possible. Notion uses no-sql based database at the backend such as mongoDB which is enhanced to work with documents based storage structure. Conclusion: yes go ahead, or you can stress test by importing from OneNote to Notion.
