Even though it is hard, I find that leaving social media till the end of the day to be best. I can't just go on youtube or instagram or facebook for a 5 min study break and focus on my study after as well. instead at the break times, I just go and get a snack, talk to my family, etc Hope this helps a fellow youtube addict ;D

Hi Andrea, I just wanted to write a little thank you for making all these amazing videos. I am only a sophomore in high school but know I want to pursue a career in the medical field. These videos have helped not only in understanding what I need to do but have also motivated me. I cannot tell you how many times I have had bad days where I thought to myself that I'm not good enough or I can't do it and wanted to just give up but I always come back to your videos and they make me feel 100% better and motivated to go out there and kick some butt. I really cannot thank you enough for motivating but making me confident as I go through this "scary" medical path. You might not even see this but thank you ❤️

That's amazing, so proud of you for being curious and looking up studying/productivity hacks as a high school student interested in medicine. You definitely have the drive and motivation to be a doctor, and just in that, in my opinion, I think you're halfway there. Good luck to you in high school, college and hopefully medical school :)

Yay, new video! Andrea, you discussed meal prep, and I know you're big on cooking your own food and being healthy- can you do a video on how you prep your meals? Maybe some sort of vlog video where you show us how you make your groceries list, make a quick meal, then storage/packing for the next day? Or perhaps a video with your top meal prep ideas/recipes?
@pensandnoodles6818 жыл бұрын
Also- some reasons why I don't currently prep my own meals if you could give some advice: worrying that food will go bad after only a few days (so how long can we keep the meals in the fridge/are there certain ingredients that we should use more to avoid food poisoning?), and keeping the meals cold/hot until I'm ready to eat them (what to do if we don't have a fridge, such as when we go to the library?). Thanks!

Thank you so much for your advice regarding social media (SM) and discipline towards studying. The correlation between the stimulation and excitement SM gives, and intelligence and brain power truly needs to be addressed. SM can be a major distraction when it's time to study. I believe so many people will be helped by this tip on SM. Your advice has definitely helped me! THANK YOU, THANK YOU!

Andrea, I really needed this, thank you! Just yesterday I deactivated my Instagram because I realized how often I went onto it and just would avoid studying because I would rather look at other people's' posts instead. Same goes with other social media, but one by one, I think it's better for me to give it up, it's easier to focus. I love your videos! Thank you :)

Your passion is truly inspiring! Great tips! I'm also a huge fan of meal planning, it saves tones of time and also tones of money. Regarding the time management, I use pomodoros to study and it has really helped me. Once I discovered KZbin was a distraction while studying I was determined to found a solution. Using plane mode on my phone really really helps, I can still use the pomodoro app but I don't get distracted by any kind of social media. Maybe that helps for some of you. Once again, thank you Andrea for being here for us! Love from Barcelona!

You are such an inspiration Andrea! I recently started watching your videos and honestly they are so helpful! I'm a first year biology major/Pre-Med at UCLA and I know how important grades are in college! I did not do so well in my first quarter (3.1 GPA) but I know I'll push myself more and manage my time to do well in the next 2 quarters! Seriously I Wish to end up where you are right now. Thank you for these tips (:

Hi Andrea, I'd love for you to do a video on self-care during residency since you always seem to balance this so well and are so positive! I read some research articles that looked at sleep deprivation often experienced during residency and its associated issues (conflicts with coworkers, weight changes, practice-related issues, etc.). I am curious how you have managed sleep while being a resident, what/if any safeguards are in place in terms of hours awake and practicing medicine, and how different specialties may compare (based on what you know/have been told) in terms of little sleep and constantly working/being on call. I am just so fascinated that despite these poor associations with sleep deprivation, some (perhaps many?) doctors and other medical providers deal with a culture that fosters this. However, correct me if I am wrong about this or if things have changed for the better since the studies I read were published. Thanks for being such a great inspiration! :)

Using the Pomodoro technique works for me. (Also, I find that I study better in a library. ) I would also keeping a calendar on you with your obligations (exams, homework assignments, important meetings, etc.). (Perhaps google calendar or ical). A second, physical, one is also helpful. You can visualize your obligations. I also add task reminders to my calendar. For instance, if I need to check back in with something/someone, I may add it to my calendar 2 weeks from now.

Awesome tips Andrea!! Logging out of Facebook is the first thing I do too 🙋 Staying super focused doesn't come naturally to me, I get carried away so I like really have to put in more efforts than others to do that and my most favourite thing to do is to reward myself for staying focused. I know I feel my best only when I have given my 100% and if I haven't I don't quite enjoy the other things in life so the biggest motivation is what follows 😂 probably weird but works for me!!🙌 P.S you look so pretty 😍 Loved what you said about inspiring one another in medical community❤

I had to deal with lecture dinosaurs, who would punish students for not showing up to their holy lectures. Giving out test questions at lectures, not allowing recordings, claiming it's their intellectual property, etc. Thank God those dinosaurs are on track to go extinct. I also learned more with reading or focusing on recorded lectures.

I have a question Andrea.I am last minute person.I always study last minute for many tests and I excel in most of them.But it's too stress because,for example for history,I need to memorize thousands of facts.I wake up early like 3,4 a.m. and start to memorize all the facts but it is too stress.but at the end of the day i excel in it.But sometimes don't.Sometimes i feel it work for me.so my question for you is,Is it good to study last minute and does it help ?(because sometimes i feel like everything just jump to my brain but sometimes don't)so, is it okay for me to go on with it?

#1 its better to major in something that you actually enjoy then #2 its better to major in a non science like English or History etc because so many people that apply to medical school major in the sciences.
