Raycast is amazing, been using it for a while now and can't imagine using a MacBook without it!

I’ve been an Alfred user for yearrrss. Bought a few power packs myself. Finally switching over. Been wanting to every since raycast hit my radar but have been procrastinating all the migration work. Solid video 🔥. Cheers!

As a fellow Alfred user, I empathize with the procrastination 😆 Glad you enjoyed the video!

21:22 Moving files is actually quite easy. Copy with Command+C as usual but use Command+Option+V to paste. This will move the file(s). Also try Yoink if you need something more mouse oriented.

Oh interesting! Thanks for the tip!

Comparing raycast file search to Finder's one seems silly to me. Noone does that in MacOS. Everyone use spotlight search, where you can find os files as fast as in raycast. That was noob portion of the video. I agree with all the rest, though. I'm raycast user too.

Do you use anything for IPAD PRO Keyboard (as none of these apps are available). Its a bit annoying to get using to spotlight but use different app on mac and ipad. Also is it really needed for productivity alfred/Raycast when spotlight does whats needed ?
@BenCodeZen2 жыл бұрын
Good question! I haven't thought about this just yet with my iPad either. Let me mull it over and add this question to the backlog!
@ent22632 жыл бұрын
I've been an Alfred Powerpack user for years and that's exactly the reason I decided to give Spotlight another go. And honestly, it does everything I was actually using Alfred for (as opposed to things I enjoyed thinking I could do with it). Now with Apple's Shortcuts integration it can probably do even more but I'm too occupied with other things to investigate further right now.
@BenCodeZen2 жыл бұрын
@@ent2263 Nice! I definitely have to find ways to leverage more of Apple Shortcuts. So much potential there!

Hi Ben, how you manage your projects? I'm using obsidian for my daily notes and reviews and Habitica for my habits, but struggle to find a place to organize my side projects. Also what's your workflow for dev related knowledge? I really like the new focus to productivity power hour and the summaries on your blog, keep going!
@BenCodeZen2 жыл бұрын
Hey Larizza! Thanks for the words of encouragement! Project management honestly has been quite a bear. I tried doing it all in Obsidian, but honestly felt it was a lot of admin work for what I wanted. I'm currently on working something to help solve this, but in the meantime, Notion is my go-to for more complex database things. For dev-related knowledge, that all goes into Obsidian. Let me know if you have any other questions!

@@BenCodeZen Thanks for the reply Ben, I've been slowly moving back to notion for project and course tracking but had to fight with the urges to have one god tool 😅, looking forward for what the next videos brings. I watched the obsidian template video on twitch yesterday (sadly no live 'cuz work), the Base Note is a life saver, and will be quite helpful for my dev/literature/garden/daily notes workflow.

That's a good question! I saw places for scripting, but this is something worth investigating!
@derekkelly4852 жыл бұрын
With Alfred I was able to use a keyboard command to move files from my desktop to any folder as I would type the folder path and Alfred would move it there. Can raycast do this?
@BenCodeZen2 жыл бұрын
Good question! I believe there are scripts that would make this possible, but I'll add this to the backlog to explore this since I'd love this functionality too!
@MK-ef9iu2 жыл бұрын
You can move it by hitting option key and ⬆️ on the specific file. And with down button to move it
