Prof. Günter Blobel was awarded the 1999 Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine "for the discovery that proteins have intrinsic signals that govern their transport and localization in the cell." He is the John D. Rockefeller Jr. Professor at Rockefeller University in New York and an investigator at the Howard Hughes Medical Institute. Lecture presented on May 19, 2008 at Technion Nobel Laureate Symposium.
